  1. Brad that looks really fine! Great looking scale sized too. I like!
  2. Hi Niko, good car to start building! Looks like it could use a nasty motor.
  3. Very impressive Ray! Looking good. Very skillful. Nothing looks more like metal than metal, and the stuff looks great on a model.
  4. Hi Bernard, I like your thinking on this, and the body sitting on that frame just looks sinister! I think too the shortened frame goes well with the body. This will look sweet in the vitrine sitting next to your previous rail job. Michael
  5. What a great model! Super clean and nice extras added too. I like seeing these cars in white too.
  6. Pics, pics and more pics. Plans? They're just something to ruin my day. LOL. @Bill just above....I hear that!
  7. Well, with your milling/machining and planing skills it would be a cinch to form the object using Renshape as a mold for a material that would then be cast. To cast the material as such wouldn't be very accurate as it's too porous. The actual properties of Renshape is for me an unknown. The material may not even melt cleanly. This would lead to immense finishing difficulties. I was interested in milling a part using Renshape, then casting the Renshape part as is. You'll get there. Casting is fun.
  8. Dave, I meant that the material cannot be cast in metal, so therefore I won't be using it. I like to do metal parts.
  9. Excellent! Commendable too is your attention to detailing, motor and the wiring as well. Lots of research has paid off.
  10. Really some fine detailing there Tyrone! Awesome.
  11. Hi Jesse, man that is a great looking 36 Ford. I'm really beginning to like the dull paint jobs and yours looks good! Also the motor. I have a collection of cool hot rod motors, and lots of them are Flatheads too. The snappy paint and the beautiful detailing really makes the motor pop, perfect for a real cool ride.
  12. Hi Brad, the motor is shaping up nicely. Amazing to me every time, is how much a part in metal adds to the overall look. The headers for instance are really fine and compliment the 392 motor. Looking into those tubes just makes for a very realistic view, magneto and oil deal as well. Keep up the good work as lots of us enjoy your efforts.
  13. Thanks Dave, I found lots of threads here about Renshape materials, seems like an interesting product, I won't bother with casting it though. Your 1:1 certainly has an attitude.
  14. Hello Dave, Excellent show of skills here, the motor is very interesting to me. Question please: What material do you use for the heads and oil pan? I suppose the block is styrene of some description. Could you give some insight? I'm real enthused about seeing a dragster being built, great stuff. Michael
  15. These examples look really good! I like this. @Ken Boyer....What kind of satin is being used again?
  16. Hi Al, I think the metalizer paints can look pretty good, they can be mixed with other metalizer paints too. Personally though, I hate flat black paint. Nothing is that darned black, my opinion. On models it looks especially bad and fake up close. What color is the block? Maybe mix up a metal color and it might look good when polished out.
  17. Hi guys, Could someone help me please? I'm gathering some parts for a future build, among them a FED in the style of this MPC kit. For those of you who have this model, how long is the wheelbase? This will be a scratch build in brass and other metals. I like the look of this car a lot. Anyone? Michael
  18. So you actually bought one?
  19. Unbelievable! Cheating like crazy. OK, the VW Diesel motors delivered to the US are the same as here in Europe. But, the software is different! Since you can't drive fast in the US, the cars have a software that is more restricted than in Europe. This means, in Germany we can drive on the Autobahns as fast as the car can go in lots of areas. This car has to be restricted a lot in the test labs. In the US, the cars aren't allowed to drive as fast, hence the software is more negligent, meaning lenient. Outside of the "test environment", the average Diesel motor has emissions from 7-15 times more than legally allowed, in some cases as much as 40 times the legal value. This is a known fact among Gov't officials in Germany. 1/6 of the German workers are on an "automotive type" payroll. Go figure. The Gov't knows about cheating, but keeps quiet.
  20. LOL. Funny stuff here. Right at this moment I'm watching a political talk show with big time experts who know the German Automobile Industry very well. Journalists who've tried for decades to get behind the "system", ecological experts and lawyers who've in the past defended VW Managers. Only one politician is present, a Green Party rowdy. One of the main guests is the gentleman who developed the testing platform for the US folks who first reported the VW dilemma. He says, it's all big time BS, VW has been cheating for years. He warned them years ago. He warned the German Gov't. years ago. No go. In the meantime 11 million cars are reportedly cheating with the tests. Audi too! Here is how the software works; The only time these diesel motors are officially tested are in a controlled environment! Test labs. The software in each car can tell when test conditions prevail, as the car does not move. With this feedback, the software reduces the performance (horsepower) of the motor so that it only has a fraction of the power. The emissions are then less, so the motor appears to be "clean". As soon as this car is out on the road, these values jump immensely! A national defense lawyer, also from the "political arena" of the state where the VW Industry has it's HQ (the state has a 20% win advantage from VW!) says of course the Boss who stepped down knew everything. VW is one of the very few who have almost a vassal hierarchy. The big bosses do not tolerate any questions from their Managers. either you do as we say or you're fired! This does not leave any German citizen cold. VW is pride and joy. The country is collectively puking about this news!
  21. Is the rest in the truck?
  22. The talk here in Germany is that all German big name companies will suffer from this. The chief of Dept. of Transportation (a Bavarian, read BMW Friend) was the first to stir up trouble and went knocking on VW's door with threat of major shakedown from the Govt. Now, Press say he knew about it and didn't speak up! This is huge dilemma. VW stocks are way down and the losses are in the double billions. No, this is not a good time to work at VW. But also, Audi and Porsche among others, are run by VW. The Boss is a Professor of Physics and a celebrated Engineer. Current German Autos. Audi and VW for instance, have quality control features that have his name on them. The man is not just a Manager. I can't really imagine this mess is his doing. Here in Germany, VW is something. This is like "the" household brand number one. The only car that really has nothing to say about your financial or social status. You can drive up to the Opera in a Golf, or to the welfare office. A Golf is a Golf, period. The wife of the CEO Mercedes Benz drives a Golf. This is big trouble for lots of folks.
  23. You've all heard about it. VW cheats!....on emission testing for their Diesel motors. This stinks in my opinion. I've always been a VW fan, especially the Golf. I'll add, the German Govt. is in an uproar. The German Industrial Complex is in an uproar. Is the name "Made in Germany" endangered? Personally, I find that it's sad news that such a major Auto player is so easily called out.
  24. Force, go to my original entry. I have Comp Resin wheels already. Clearly stated before you posted. Read before you write. This might reduce redundancy.
  25. I don't understand the issue with "crate motors". I didn't think for a second about real, 1:1 crate motors. I'll bet when AMT and Revell made these motor kits, the "over the counter" boys in 1:1 dealerships couldn't readily relate to crate motors as they're known today. Weren't they back then referred to as "whole engines". We're talking here models. Model motors. AMT crate motors. Revell crate motors. This is a modeling site isn't it? Anyway, doesn't Mopar send their whole motors in boxes? Not crates by any means. Maybe guys, a bit more imagination would be a good thing.
