  1. Hi Nick. Speed City looks good too! Also cool, I could order from them some M/T valve covers and a few other small parts for my next project. Thanks
  2. Thanks Tom! I'll go there and have a look. OK! They do look nice, thanks for the tip. I'm eyeballing that Willys Pickup too. They make cool Gassers.
  3. Yes Force, I realize the displacement cannot be seen from the outside. lol. That's why I wrote BBC in the text, 427 in the title to differentiate from the old 409. This will be a late 60's model Altered with a blown BBC.
  4. Hi guys, Here's another inquiry for an upcoming project. Halibrand or American 12 spoke wheels for Altereds. The ones from the AMT Wild Willie and Bantam Blast are too small. I'm talking about the 18" taller wheels that fit on the skinny front tires. Competition Resins has them, I've used 2 sets already, but I'd like to try another resin product. Anyone know of a source for these taller 12 spoke wheels? Michael
  5. I don't know about the Challenger body, but I have 3 others from him and they're atrocious. Really poor. The size is strange and looks odd. Body lines are wavy and there's so much porosity and ugly fins that of the three, I only used one. Lots of work though, never again.
  6. Hi Guys, For my next project I'll need a blown BBC motor in 1:25 scale. Which kits have a good motor? Who makes a good resin BBC motor? Thanks in advance. Michael
  7. I'm finishing up the Dana 60 Kit on my current project and the thing looks so good, pics coming up soon.
  8. Hi Brian, Those things are a real pita. On my last build I used 0.5mm rivets, most landed somewhere never to be found again. The best way for me to mount those devils was 1st of all, using a lighted magnifying lamp. Mine is 1.5 X, works great. Then with a pointed small instrument, lick the tip and run it through a pile of those rivets. St least 5 or so will stick to the tip of the instrument. Of these 5 or so, at least 1 of them will be pointing pretty much in the direction you need it to be placed. Very carefully run it up to the hole you've prepared and it should kind of fall in place. This worked for me with this piece; The studs for the cockpit cover and the top of the magneto. The magneto rivets I just reduced with a rubber wheel to make them flatter after the CA dried. Those things cost me lots of cash too, only to have 3/4 of them fly all over the room. I finally was able to do them decently with the method I mentioned. Good luck. Michael
  9. Hi Matt, totally agreed! What a beauty. I was really surprised the way the car drove. A lot nastier than it's lines would suggest. I had no experience though with it's curving prowess. Still, I'd rather this one than it's contemporaries. Who says Jags have to be British Racing Green? No way. Michael
  10. I'll look at the link. The info I have is from there. Interesting too a few anecdotes about that team. Ingrams' daughter was even active there on the forum, about their car. The Jewel T as I understand was one of the few top teams that had a suspended rear axle setup, plus the car would start on it's own which won him a few races due to various starting line shenanigans from opponents. The car ran 7's too, on gas. Michael
  11. Ray, I just found out Del Rio was a Ford car. I thought the name was a Chevy car. Yours is looking good!
  12. Gary, our entries crossed last time. Great pics! Question: Pics of the Davis&Ingram car, Jewel T, is from what I've found scarce. That car was one of the few to have a suspended rear end. Do you have anything on the Jewel T? This is my next build. The 3rd of my Fuel Altered "Trio Infernale".
  13. So what's your Duster project doing? Do you actually build these cars? Pics?
  14. Gary, on the "Pure Heaven" car, this is the 1st time I've seen a FireEx by the motor! Thanks too for clearing the Fire System activation deal up. Very good fuel system pics! No more questions needed, they show it all. By the way, the captions are a hit! Burkholder Bros. didn't scrimp anywhere visible. Yet the car was only a $5000 investment. Amazing how times change. I remember my sister was looking in 1967 at a 67 Corvette. Price was $5300 on the list. Michael
  15. One more thing, I forgot to add. Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear really ripped this car apart, fairly recently. I was really surprised to hear this animosity as I still think to this day that the Jaguar XKE was an amazing engineering feat that was absolutely beautifully designed. I really like the Jaguar XK E Type. Jürgen, das Modell sieht Klasse aus! Michael
  16. Gorgeous car, excellent model. My 1st sister-in-law had an XKE exactly that color. Blue leather interior. The car had wire wheels. Guys, this was in 1967, I was a junior in High School. Driving that car to school! Yo, then skipping later in the day then off to the beach! Those were fun days. The car was just amazing to drive. Unlike anything I've ever experienced, even to this day. I thought, "only a 6 cylinder". The first time hard on the gas pedal.....I thought the front wheels went up! Hitting 2nd gear (you couldn't speed shift that tranny) the front end jumped as if the wheels cleared again. Loud and rowdy. Lots of drive train noise. The gears whined, the rear end too. Turn the wooden spoke steering wheel a half inch and you changed lanes. The motor was huge. Gearbox too. The car was very responsive! This was a no frill hardcore sports car. You could not easily just smoothly cruise in this car. It was bumpy, rough ride, loud and utterly exciting. 3 Weber carbs. Toggle switches everywhere. Lucas gauges, that even worked! Yep. A beautiful thrill. Beautiful model! Michael
  17. Bill, the metal finish you did on the Mickey Thompson car is fabulous. Michael
  18. Yes. This is a joke. Welcome to the forum.
  19. OK. Well, I'll just order some chicken and noodles then. Michael
  20. Hey Hanabi, were you the dude who sent me a spam-PM? Welcome to the forum. Michael
  21. Wow! Steve, that looks fantastic! The H of K copper pearl, what is the exact specification? I need to get in touch with my H of K guru, but I'll need the proper number and letter combination. Can you help? Is the copper pearl a base coat? Michael
  22. YES! Excellent pics! The fuel lines are very clear with these pics. Interesting too the absence of A/N fittings in lots of pics. This suits me just fine, better scale possibilities. I like the real look of the different metals too, this is something all modelers can work on. I like the view of the crankcase ventilation, very important and often neglected. I'm doing it on my current project. Gary, many thanks for your efforts. What's it looking like with rear end setups? Altereds and F/C's late 60's to 70's? Plus, I don't get it with the Fire Extinguisher Systems. I see the bottles mounted, but have yet to figure out how they're employed. Manual? Sensors? Do they only protect the pilot, or are they for fighting motor fire as well? Thanks again, super pics! Michael
  23. @Ernie, alias XL500 Thanks for the very personal insight and story from a while back. Excellent! Michael
  24. Thanks Jesse. I was thinking "Wild Willie" wanted at all times to live up to his name. That was pretty wild looking and didn't really expect to see a piece of wood in a race car.
  25. Here's a nice piece for some metal working fun. Arrived today; Here my trusty little micro-motor, it fits nice and snug in the drill press; I'm satisfied with the quality. It doesn't seem to wiggle and has the power to do anything I've thrown at it so far. Recommendable.
