  1. At least I can comment over here. Nice job, I like the 911 decal greg
  2. Here is my contribution, GLMFAA stands for Great Lakes Miniature Fire Apparatus Association. Which was a fire apparatus club from the 80's that I had been the president and was started by Larry Mattingly and myself to counter FAMBA (Fire Apparatus Model Builders Association) Fire model building waned and both clubs dissolved. The avatar is the logo from the club, It is a yellow Maltese cross which signifies the fire service, the inner circle is the United State and Canadian flags in a black circle to give respect to fire fighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. This is placed over the great lakes which border the US and Canada and encompassed our club area as set by the by laws of the club. We were International to start with, but had outreach including a member in New Zealand. It was fun and a lot of work. greg
  3. Do not remove as the history and information is needed, thanks for the contribution greg
  4. My error as I did not know the proper term for the casting, This is how corvettes and boats are made if I am correct, That answers the question of different colors as Mike must have had this done in a shop where different gel coats were used. If I am correct in my recollection when building mine this was the sprayed fiber and resin as when it was cut there was not mat appearance to the body. thanks for the info greg
  5. My prayers are with you, A safe and hopeful journey, 'handle code 3' greg
  6. The background scene is of a Western town motif and Bud does have his goggles as I got the diorama as someone just wanted the car. A general store, telephone pole, and horse tie log. I have the hobby set with the wood box, The box does not go together well. If you want I will take pictures of what I've done with it. greg
  7. That's one fire kit I missed, Wasn't interested in it as AMT had the cinder bug out there, I thought that the kits were not 1/24th scale and missed on the fire fighters. I already had the Hubley metal T and made the AMT 25 T into a chief's car greg
  8. Yesterday I was working and had no camera but a late 40 early 50 Ford pick up front wedded to a Ford van rear end in army green, Anyone in the Y-town area know of it's origins greg
  9. Originally MPC with Surfer 'Hot Curl' in 1/25 scale , kit was I think one of the 12 in 1 kits greg
  10. I should have replied to this earlier, but from the fringe medical side of it I heard a doctor explain the procedure as putting you in a garbage can and then beating it with a big hammer. When I transport people to an MRI appointment I tell them of the side effects as being a change in personality (magnetic) and the tendency to sleep pointing North. greg
  11. I'm going back to 'Sunset Boulevard' with the old car and his car he hides from the repo A lot of old cars in "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world" greg
  12. Just a quick note, I think the AMT cab is thicker than the MPC cab, I believe the glass is not interchangeable, I'll check my stash and get back to you. greg
  13. Last Friday I watched the Secret service (home land security) convoy on I 80 going from Cleveland to Philadelphia, Several white Ford 4 door pick ups with caps and trailers with one command center Ford conversion as lead unit, sorry had no camera with me.
  14. Any credit to builder(s), Could Charlie be involved? greg
  15. Here's two: "Come up and see me sometime!" "That's another mess you've gotten me into". greg
  16. Nice find, I recall in my boyhood my friend having the T Bird kit with the engine and the front hinged hood. amazed at the model, of course done in white plastic, who had spray paint in the 60's, The worst thing was those darn little spring clips used to make the hood work, I was a Vette fan (route 66 avid watcher, what great actors, actresses and writers, it was all the car) and dreaded those clips, always had a nice cut on my fingers from them. glad you have the parts, I was going to offer up an air cleaner. greg
  17. Back in the days when the kits were 4 to 5 dollars they were good buy to get accurate parts Which are now outdated and the kits are now considered rare and ruined by a production run of GREEN plastic windows. There were other kits that had emergency parts like the Force 440, Cop Out, Roscoe's police car and the Nova, Now that the latest being the Lindberg Dodge that had several light bars, The Crown Vics had two different bars, I agree the time is right to purchase castings as the productions have ceased. There are some nuts out here that do build emergency vehicles.
  18. How about this one?
  19. I'd say it is a clone 1. Twinsonic light bar instead of Dietz gumball on roof. 2. Star of life on rear windows, Vid pics and article have no stars on rear windows (maybe omitted to do interior shots) 3. Blue cross on side along with the star of life. 4. Has anyone checked out the tags on the windshield? greg
  20. I have to agree with you and I have the great pleasure of knowing Charlie as a friend. We ( the fire apparatus nuts) often kid that he has a shrink ray machine or he needs to stop posting the real thing as models. Every time I hear that he has a new project started I believe all the Swiss watches in the world lose a second and all the Hasselblad cameras shutter . He is truly a great asset and mentor to scale model builders. greg
  21. Well you two have dragged me into this thread. I also met Mike at the Toledo Toy Fairs back in the days of the Maumee recreation center madhouses. Here is a pic of my version of his original casting that I got that had yellow release on the fiberglass. Here is the two versions of the cabs I have an original fiberglass and second version # 56 My version of the safety sedan was one of the only three built by Seagraves. It is based on Youngstown Fire Department's 1958 truck It is only rescue and carries only a booster pump and water tank. the hose bed area is crew and equipment space Bits and parts are from the AMT ALF pumper, Aurora ALF Pumper, Don Mills emblems, Johan police vehicle, AMT van kit doom window, and plastic fireman sacrificed the masks and air packs The siren was made using parts from the AMT ALF kit, front bumper was forced straightened ALF with chrome tape center grill cross bars are evergreen square stock sanded to round. The original truck had single headlight fender but was updated through the years with various rehabs including being repowered by a Cummins diesel which why there is an outside air cleaner. This model shows the last rehab paint scheme but with the old lettering the truck had Danno: looking at your pics of your castings I can't say where they are from as they don't match what I know of Mike's castings greg
  22. I would happier with 'Supercar' in 1.24-25 scale greg
  23. Good luck with this project, To be correct the extended section in the rear is actually wider then the van body itself, You can use the rear doors but you have to keep the roll pan below the doors and extend the scribes into it. You are going to have to smash two kits at least so I would use the second one to make a cargo van cut off type ambulance also. I can't understand how you could have a 'mobile intensive care' ambulance on a low top van. Was it a factory or home built ambulance? The blue Braun in the background, I have the scene light pods for that. I have Ford body panel book with dimensions if your interested PM me greg
  24. Nice build, I would like to invite you to our group build at The Scale Firehouse for this year the theme being 'chief's vehicles' http://scalefirehouse.com greg
  25. Dan seems to an avid contributor to this site maybe someone might want to manage a 'go fund me' account and we could all contribute https://www.gofundme.com/ greg
