I made a sweet lil' diorama using the school bus converted into a homeade RV and I'd sure love to get that Chevy Van once more.

Remember the B movie "Used Cars"?

Spread to the Four Winds, amigo. They gave away some of the cars, and nobody probably even thought of the rest until years later ..when the film became a cult classic. -

Grips move sets.. Build em too sometimes. We do the heavy work on the soundstage/location. I really used to enjoy that line of work. -

Amazon has the DVD, and I used to have two of the "vehicles" used in the movie. I worked as a grip on the film, and bought the 3-wheel Westcoaster US Mail truck and a clapped-out Dodge Coronet from the Propmaster. Great popcorn movie! -

Jimmy Flintstone makes a pretty good A-100 Van body in resin. Looks great as a curbside, but a lot of "slag" to sand away on the inside. -
It's been so long since I followed the Bonneville scene, I need a few refreshers. First, anyone know where I can find vintage SCTA rules? Southern California Timing Association ran the Speed trials, IIRC. Second ..Did the cars then use Salt Flat hubcaps, or was that just a fashion statement at the time? I'm building Mr Speed. did most Studes use the stock chassis? Or was there a custom tube or square-stock frame and sheet metal under there, like a Funny Car? Thanks mucho Chip

My new Favorite Sharpie is the Retractable Pen Fine Line. -Think a "click type ball-point pen. Good flow, and doesn't dry out. Pentel also makes a silver pen with a .05 tip that gets lots of use around here.

Just sent in an order, David. Post a pic of the off-road decals and I bet you'll get more sales from us "dirty" guys.. -
Harry, I'm not a lawyer, but in a civil case, it's not about "guilty" per se, but the percentage of culpability of all parties involved. They might find Stewart ..say, 30% culpable (JUST CONJECTURE, FOLKS).. He might then get hit with monetary damages for whatever the jury decides.

-A little different story here. Years ago the hands-down most FUN model contest to go to was held in the little town of St. Johns Arizona. It was put on by the 4H Club and was run on a Peoples Choice format. The kids had a blast, and everybody from across the state came to compete in the adult classes too. "The Best Little Model Contest In Arizona" was primarily for the local kids, and not in the slightest cutthroat kind of pressure. I'm sure the kids got plenty of help and advice from the local builders.. And nobody cared. Adult or child, it was the most laid-back affair, and celebrated the joy of model building. The kids grew up, and the local adults retired.. So went the way of the contest.. But if there ever is a 4H group in some small town around here that would want to, a lot of us would love to support a thing like that again.

-Looking for diamond plate sheet in 1/24? DO NOT buy the Plastruct "G" scale (1/24). Instead, get the Plastruct #91687 in HO scale. Looks much more real in 1/24. Thanks to Dale Mickley for pointing this out.
