  1. It's sharp-looking. I'd deep-six the T top too. Good luck with it
  2. What Old Buckaroo said. That's gotta be a typo.
  3. Everything is a compromise. Main thing IMHO is to get a model of a subject you really want to build. It isn't gonna be perfect, no matter what. There's always Plastruct and Evergreen, as well as aftermarket parts to scratchbuild or shore up a so-so kit.
  4. I was gifted last year of a full set of wrenches and sockets.. "None Better" Made by New Britain in the US in the mid-40's. Greasy, old and funky-smelling.. Steel Goodness. I use Harbor Freight stuff on non-ferrous metals and styrene. Good enough for that. For my ultralight and motorcycles, it's only USA or German quality. (edit;) OLD USA OR GERMAN QUALITY.
  5. I'd buy Harbor Freight hand tools before anything Craftsman or Sears nowdays.
  6. Raptor, yay! Snap kit....... Orale, La Migra Raptor! Yep, that's what I want to build too.
  7. That display stand on the Camaro is really clever.. Is that homemade or store-bought?
  8. I have a lot of old enamels. Some of the little Testors bottles and Humbrol tins date back to the 70's and are still good. michaels just had a 33 cent/bottle sale on craft acrylics and I bought a bunch. If I find it cheap, I stock up, otherwise I just buy as I need it.
  9. One of my most handy scratchbuilding tools is my old Modelcalc. Pity they're not made anymore. Good onya for providing this.
  10. Great times! I brought along a couple fellows who've never been to a model contest.. Yeah, they were blown away.. Guess what they want to do now.. BUILD MODELS! heh, sunk da hook! Only bought two kits.. But I did find a >one-pound bag of Fuzzi-Fur<.. Lifetime supply of brown carpeting. Best of all is to see all the guys I've lost contact with over this past decade. Thank you all for coming up and saying howdy.
  11. How about this.. Use steel wheels, salt flat tires and sheet metal screws securing the tires to rim? You could then use skinnier tires and hide 'em under the fenders... Sheet metal screws are an old desert racer trick out here.
  12. Naval Jelly is the old standard Harry.
  13. Good luck tomorrow Mark, see you there.
  14. Also Google "The Complete Future" and "Swannys models" (sorry, I can't link to them for some reason here?) Swanny has a in-depth look at Future and it's variant names across the World.
  15. Unlikely that a Paasche would ever break, but a dead one might make for a cool doorstop..
  16. Arrgh! Gee, thanks bud.. What is seen can't be unseen.. Just kiddin'.
  17. RIP, Andy "Moose" Kallen..
  18. It's called Kleer in Europe, as I'm told. Future/Kleer is an acrylic plastic formula. Modelers have been using it for years under decals as well as over them. It prevents "Silvering" and works a treat for clear parts, too.
  19. I'm bringing BIG $$$ and lookin' for Pintos.. Watchit, Pony builders!
  20. ..Dang! I'm also a big fat guy with a short beard and glasses in jeans and a t shirt.. Maybe I need to bring my club name tag.. The two biggest model car clubs meet on weekends usually. It's a woikin' man's thaang. See you tomorrow, Russ. Chip
  21. I've brush-coated Future (Kleer) over the whole model with a wide brush. Several car bodies done, and no streaks or brush marks. The stuff is advertised as self-leveling and so far, that's what I've seen. Might try that on a junker body or a plastic spoon first.
  22. Its an old D500. Good, reliable workhorse. Looks to be about 70's vintage. output about 30psi IIRC. I'd go to Amazon and get a regulator/moisture trap for it. I use a remote setup for that next to my bench. Place the moisture trap as far from the compressor as you can. Fittings are NPT -National Pipe Thread. use Teflon tape on all but your hose end/to airbrush connection.
  23. Uff Da! Pity the wheels can't be pulled in much to enhance the Sleeper.. I bet that cabin is gonna get really toasty with the Pasta Rocket so close by too.. Love it!
