  1. 78% of all statistics on the internet are made up 86% of the time
  2. be careful of using super glue near windows. it will fog it. i have also had it fog the paint, but it seems to mostly happen if i use too much glue
  3. besides one being a gmc and one being a chevy, are they basically the same kit or different molds? from the bottom of the box, they look the same, except the grill https://www.amazon.com/AMT-1972-GMC-Jimmy-Scale/dp/B08CLSNXLY/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=gmc+jimmy&qid=1616345753&sr=8-9 vs https://www.amazon.com/VRC-Hobbies-Chevy-Blazer-Chief/dp/B082ZTZCKW/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=crew+chief&qid=1616345773&sr=8-10
  4. i use coca cola. put the part in a bottle of coke or pepsi and let it sit for 2 or 3 days. shocking but true
  5. i really like this. which orange color is this? is it a spray can?
  6. i like vallejo putty https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PHCNLC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. so when you do this, the chassis will stay warped, but look like its flat? what happens with the body and interior. how do they lay flat on the warped chassis
  8. i buy a lot from ebay. i try to not overpay, but i have also noticed quite a lot of the older truck kits are going for a lot these days.i use scalemates to find different packages. i also keep a price in my head based on the previously sold searches and if i find i can afford it, i will bid only up to my highest amount, never older. if there is a buy it now, i watch it for 24 hours. occasionally i will get an email offer for a discount, 5 to10% maybe.
  9. This one for me too because the price is so much cheaper than elsewhere. however the shipping cost will negate the savings if only buying a couple of things. I typically buy extra to make it worth it. For example, i bought 3 cans of paint from a retail store, paying full price. I checked this place after and it was much cheaper, but ince shipping was added, it was the same. I always check Amazon first but never for tamiya supplies or tools like sandpaper or cutters. Almost every time i have, it looks like a fake. But for kits and such, i check Amazon first because of free shipping. Hobby lobby has the models on sale all the time, but again the shipping is high, so unless you are buying several, its not worth it over lhs
  10. i used to watch her videos on youtube. she had the best laugh and she would laugh all the time. such a shame
  11. at this point i half expect my usps packages to never arrive. when possible i have been paying extra for usps and fedex. in fact, i have a package sitting in usps boston for 1 month with no movement. numerous calls to usps has been no help
  12. shoot, i didnt know the model king reissued it. unfortunately i already bought the amt kit. There is 1 of the model king version on ebay, and its 20 dollars less than what i bought (and as you said, it has a trailer and another car). i had done so much searching on ebay and google for reissues and couldnt find anything. i should have asked here first. EDIT: well, my birthday is in 1 month, so my wife agreed to get me the model king version for my birthday. this way i can have the nice trailer too. i dont mind having more than one
  13. Yeah, i wouldnt accept it either. im surprised they didnt review it before sending it to you. they should have corrected the issue before sending it
  14. thank you for posting. i just ordered the kit. im really looking forward to it
  15. i love the 78/79 ford bronco kit and after research, it seems that the AMT wild hoss is the only one thats made. the revell/monogram version is the 80 version, which has a different front grill and other minor differences This kit doesnt look like it has been rebox at all, so on ebay its silly expensive. Before i spend a ton of money on this kit, how well does it build up? is it a good quality, straight forward kit or is it a nightmare to put together. I am not a fan of AMT kits, and generally think revell kits are much better. However, i know there are some AMT kits that are great Any help is greatly appreciated
  16. The residue only seems to happen if i put too much paint down. if i do light coats instead, i dont have the issue. i also dont have an issue with tamiya paint. its the krylon matte black paint that is doing it. this is the tape i am using. its 3m automotive tape. i used to use the tamiya tape, but was too expensive https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MEH78S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 would this be better tape to use? its cheaper than the stuff i have been buying https://www.amazon.com/ScotchBlue-Painters-Original-Multi-Surface-94-Inch/dp/B006ARJVZM/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=blue+painters+tape&qid=1615334587&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRThQUVZIU0VFNjUxJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDQxOTc1M00zRlhZSk9TUzJXQyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDE3MDg2MU5XTkFGM1lNMDA0SCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
  17. when you touch up, can you tell where it was touched up? do you touchup the spot with primer too?
  18. im interested to see this as well. typically i need to buy another kit and hope its straight. i have tried taping it flat and even one time taped it flat and forgot about it for months, and found it popped right back after removing the tape. i once tried on a hood to put it into hot water and twist opposite, but just ended with a shrunk hood
  19. typically i cut the pieces off of the sprues and clean them up to be ready to go. then i use masking tape and fold the tape over to make it like 2 way tape, and tape the pieces down and paint them. then flip them and paint the other side i am using so much tape this way, i also found some pieces get a little residue if i accidentally over paint and the paint gets under the piece onto the tape. meaning, i need to sand and respray that spot. how do you guys spray the model pieces. i feel there should be a better way
  20. Im going to be honest. im a kid at Christmas right now over this kit. I check on this topic every day to see if there is anymore news/info I for sure will buy multiple copies. i dont care much about the bronco but the trailer and buggy. I would love to build this in a matching color set with some odd combos, like my el camino kit, my f150 kit. I just can't wait to get this in my hands
  21. for the life of me, i couldnt get the engine to sit straight in this kit, and i gave up building it
  22. I try to mix up the colors as well. For example i used testors metalizer burnt metal for the exhaust pipe. I brush it on and depending on if i pause will give it a different tone of color. Or if you let it dry and the just put a brush worth on the bends, it will give it a different tone. The muffler itself gets a different color vs the pipe and the transmission is typically sprayed with tamiya aluminium or mica silver, which ever i find first. They are very close. I will use tamiya black wash sparingly on most aluminium colored pieces because it really makes a big difference. not on the exhaust though. For the chassis and other chassis pieces, i typically do it as matte black. I find flat black yo be too flat and gloss black to be too shiny. Unfortunately after so many years im running low on the testors metalizers and might need to try different brands. I like to brush paint them, even though they are made for air brush. They just go on so nice, as long as you yse it carefully
  23. Here is my boy putting his pompom to bed. Every night he picks up this pompom and kneeds his blanket for 5 to 10 minutes. Then he puts his pompom down on the blanket He has also brought it to the food bowl and put it in the bowl. Im pretty sure he thinks its his baby. He doesn't like anyone touching it either. Last night i moved the pompom after he put it on the blanket and he gave me an evil eye and stared at me. i might be looking into it too much but he didn't seem pleased
  24. i cant speak for the paint, but i have the same airbrush. i really like it a lot. its very easy to use
  25. His name is Tickles, but we call him baby ticky. He is 5 years old now. He is very affectionate and loving, but has his moments of being naughty. He only does it to get attention. He is quite smart, he knows the word treats and will come when i call him by name (most of the time). My wife says that he picked me as his human since he is laying on me 90% of the time i am home. At night i wake up with him curled up in a ball, laying on my back
