At some point (maybe even now) I had a sheet of red stripes. I think mine were Microscale. I actually used them to do a dragster. This thing needs a rebuild!

Looking good, so far! I agree with JC--it sits just right. I've always loved this car.

I haven't forgotten this. I am just stumped about how to finish this paint job. I want to shoot some metallic red on this, but can't decide on a design. It's so bad, that I don't even have an idea about what to do with it! I want to keep the white, and the gold and use the red to divide them. I am open to suggestions! Hoping for some, actually!

I know, same old, boring angles! I began filling the fender cutouts. I will also add the rolled detail. Got the rear wheels opened up. The tires had to be opened by a fair amount, so, I used the rotary table on the mill to enlarge the openings to accept the wheels. I plan to split both wishbones. Questions, critiques and comments always welcome! I think it's gonna' be pretty cool.

Here's another way to do them. It takes some effort, but, I think the results were worth it.

The first time I saw Jessi, she was on Mythbusters. If I recall, correctly. They introduced her as one of their fabricators. I think that would have been at least ten years ago. People who race or participate in other extreme sports know the potential for something like this to happen. I think there's something in them that can't help but to gaze into that maw, and, not only overcome that fear, but, to revel in the face of it. After I shot this photo of Tony Schumacher at Denver, I walked up to their pit and showed it to him. I said, "Man, that's gotta' pucker your bunghole!" He grinned and said, "It's "effing" fun, man!" They are wired differently, than most of us are.

Thanks, Dennis! They were pretty easy to do. I used .008" brass wire from Detail Associates. What's mysterious to me, is that I only did three of the four. I guess I decided that I would never need four stock Model A wheels, for one car! ?

Thank you, Tom. I will post updates, as they happen. That may or may not be frequent, as I am concentrating on my Surfers' dragster. That said, I am never far from being sidetracked! Thank you, Curtis. I simply removed and replaced them with wire, one at a time. I am pretty happy with they way they turned out.

David, there's a hill climb up Guanella Pass, at Georgetown. That is something I should try to check out, one of these days. You're right! This might be a good candidate, for that. Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen!

This is an idea I have been pondering/wanting to build, for some time. At some point, while working on the Surfers' chassis, my vision for it became clearer, so, I took a while, and began to pull it all together. I have been wanting a traditional hot rod, for several years--not a rat rod, but, just a nice, clean old school rod. This features the Monogram body and chassis. I think the front axle is from Monogram's Model A Woody. I did the front wheels over 20 years ago, and have been shuffling around between possible projects. They'll finally find a home, here. The rear tires are castings that someone made from some (I think) AMT Indy car tires. I chucked them in the lathe, and narrowed them, to better suit this project. I'll use the rear axle and rear wheels from Monogram's '37 Ford pickup. Engine will be the four banger with a simple header, and a two-carb downdraft manifold. I'll play with the stance, a bit. I will likely open the roof and install wood cross braces. I was thinking of a TROG racer, but, until I look deeper into the rules, I will hold off, on that. Anyway...so far, it looks like I have planned. Questions, comments and critiques welcome (as always!).

Fireball's stuff is excellent! I see the correct style of lettering, but am unsure of the sizes. I think maybe get a set for the largest tires, in 1/24, and hope they'll work on the Monogram slicks. Thanks for all the suggestions!

And, chances are, it'll be better, the second time, because of the things you learned, the first time!

Does anyone know of a source for 1/24-25 scale decals for Goodyear slicks? I need them to be the correct vintage and size to fit the Monogram slicks from their showrods, Badman, etc. The AMT parts packs Blue Streaks are the right tires, but, they are a tad too small. Any ideas?

That's why I do a lot of the stuff I do--just to see if I can.

Thanks, Gary and Chris! Gary, I see someone posted a link to a speed control at HF. I've still got my old Dremel speed control that I've had for about 35 years, or so.

Here's the Chevy II I did. I used the Dremel, until I got close, then finished with sandpaper, sanding boards, etc.

That's why I put silly, little details on my models--I like 'em! Scratchbuilding, research--that's what is fun, for me! There's no point to building your models, to suit someone else's taste.
