  1. Nice clean build you have there Jim. I like the color choices and the wheels give it a modern look. Keep em coming!
  2. The defending Stanley Cup champions still have some fight left in them. GO BLACKHAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I buy from all three sources listed. There are some Hobbytown USA locations near me and in cities I travel to with my job. I am always looking for a hobby shop when I am on the road and lately have found a few Hobbytown stores that have a good selection. Their prices aren't the best but when compared to buying online and shipping, it is a wash for me. Besides, then the wife doesn't see more models arrive on the doorstep! There are fewer LHS near me but the ones that are seem to cater to the R/C crowd. I usually find them as a good source for scratchbuilding supplies and paint. Hobby Lobby is great for their coupons but they seem to be a few months behind when it comes to new releases. I have found some deals on display cases and snap kits.
  4. maybe some firecrackers??????
  5. That is nice to hear. They are shutting down many of the libraries here in Charlotte and the ones that are left have minimal hours. By the way, was that MCM in the non-fiction section or the periodicals?????
  6. Ah, the old "kink in the hose" excuse, eh Harry? I haven't had any problems, but then again I am supposed to be at work right now!
  7. So it is possible that you have relatives in Nigeria that won the lottery and want to share?
  8. You have come a long way with your skills Nick and it is nice to see the improvements in your builds. You have captured the look of a '67 Camaro nicely and it looks very realistic. Keep them coming and before you know it we will be hearing about the contest winners you are building.
  9. I think you need to define "serious car modeler". I would like to think of myself as a serious car modeler but in reality I buy a lot of kits and start some and finish a few. I subscribe to the 2 car modeling mags, belong to both forums and try to attend a couple of swap meets and shows every year and yet there are probably some out there that do not follow in my footsteps and complete more builds year in and year out.
  10. Not certain which kits contain them but I know you can order them from Replicas & Minatures Co. of Maryland. Their part number is dd-27 and goes for $7.95. No website but here is their address: 317 Roosevelt Ave. Glen Burnie, MD 21061 email: replmincomd@aol.com Phone: 410-768-3648 9-6 Mon-Sat (EST)
  11. Was travelling yesterday and when I got to my hotel, there was a motor coach with 40 senior citizens checking in at the same time as me! What to do, I had to kill some time or wait in line with the old farts! There was an Ollies about 300 yards away so I HAD to go in there and see what was left of the Lindberg bargains. Picked up another F-150 pickup for $7.99 and a large can of touch up paint for $.99! Still had some time left to kill so I stopped in at the HobbyTown USA to see what they had. Looked around and picked up the COPO Nova for $24.00 plus a can of Testors Lacquer. The clerk said they had just received 6 COPO Novas that day and I was getting the last one! I will hopefully tear into that COPO this weekend, although I really should finish the 8 or 9 other kits I have sitting on the bench.
  12. Just got home and my April issue (oops, I mean the January issue in April!)was waiting for me. Nice to see the changes to the magazine and it is getting better every time. I just wish the PO didn't mangle the darn thing so that it would be easier to turn the pages without them tearing.
  13. But when it is translated into English, does it say "UGLY" ? I have no clue but I can spot ugly without my glasses on!
  14. Looks great from here, I too like the black rally wheels.

    66 GTO

Nice build! A friend of mine had one similar to that in the late '70's, painted bright silver with dark tinted windows. Was fun to drive in a straight line but was a $@#!* to steer or turn! Black velour interior that got hot despite the tinted windows as the previous owner had replaced the door glass with plexiglass windows that didn't roll down. No A/C meant short cruises in hot weather! The car had aluminum panels in the engine compartment and I remember my fingers turning black using a jar of Mother's polish shining that up! Can't wait to see yours done!
  16. Bob, real nice job on that cruiser. You mentioned that you had to build this when you first saw it....was that in your rear view mirror??
  17. Does anyone know if this show is going to be held this year? IIRC it was in April or May in years past and was always a good source for some OOP models and new releases too. Some of the resin guys made the trip too. Thanks in advance! Just checked another forum and found out it is on May 14! Here is a link to the sponsoring club: www.scmodelers.com
  18. Sad to hear that someone would prey on a grieving person by stooping that low to steal a family heirloom like that. Hopefully the police will find it and the people responsible and justice will be served.
  19. That is looking spot on Darin, can't wait to see it done! I wish I had the patience to duplicate an iconic car like this.
  20. Tom, Thanks for letting us know that the January issue should be in our mailboxes soon. Gregg has had some health issues that has caused some delays and it has been well documented here. Sure hope whomever got you the subscription remembers to renew it when it is due.
  21. The one thing my wife does get about this hobby is that I could be spending as much or more at poker night, bowling night or hanging at the bar getting drunk. Whenever I do get the occasional time at the hobby desk, she will inquire about the car I am working on, not that she knows the difference between a '57 Black Widow and a '32 5 Window
  22. Terry, My father has had his share of battle with blood clots over the years and you are right, they are nothing to mess with! Be careful, follow the doctors' orders and get well soon. Let's hope that you do not have to stay on the blood thinners after your hospital stay because if you do a little nick of the x-acto knife could be bad! My father had to switch to an electric razor because of his blood thinner meds and he had to be very careful using tools. Take care and get better, we are pullin for ya!
  23. Despite my 300+ kits, I would not classify myself as a hoarder but my wife would! My kits are stored neatly and the finished ones are in a display case. I think that as long as I intend to build them, then I am not hoarding them. I have been known to buy a kit just for some parts with no intention to build the kit. It is those kits that I am willing to part out if someone needs something from them.
  24. That is going to be a different ride to be sure! I worked at a MB dealer in high school and the owner had an all original Gull Wing that was valued at $500,000 and that was 30 years ago. There were only 3 people allowed to drive that car (and I wasn't one of them) due to the rarity and value. I would think a Viper V-10 would look good under that hood, that or a 572!
  25. Glad to see you posting again Rob, your builds never disappoint and are always well executed! Thanks, keep them coming!
