  1. Hang in there Ed, I have faith in modern medicine and the power of prayer. Check in from time to time, hope you are back here sooner than expected!
  2. Mark, I think it has been said or should be said that all one expects is what they pay for, in a reasonable amount of time. Up for debate and interpretation is what is a reasonable amount of time? All of us have had situations that have caused us to miss a deadline or not take care of something in a timely manner. Speaking for myself, when I deal with a new company for the first time, I try to determine how long it may be before I receive my product. In some cases they have it ready to ship and in other cases it may take awhile. This year I have ordered some stuff from folks I haven't previously dealt with and I will list them here: Jeff B- ordered his '66 Ford F-100 resin pickup. Beautiful casting and took about 7 weeks to receive as he was swamped with orders. A quick email kept informed and I am happy with what I got. Mannyclub- ordered an engine and some other resin pieces from him and received my order in about 10 days. Had everything in stock and came as advertised. Nice stuff and will order again. Replicas & miniatures- ordered his catalog and will place an order. He states on the order form that it takes 3-4 weeks but could be sooner, depending on volume. That is fair and nice to know ahead of time. Ma's resin- placed an order about 7 weeks ago. I checked in 4 weeks ago and was told that it should ship this month, waiting for an update. Alan states that his product is built to order and to expect delays. Again, knowing this ahead of time makes a difference to me. The common denominator in the 4 examples above are that they all state that it could take some time to get the parts, which to me is the way to do business. Would I have liked to get the product sooner? Sure, but as you mentioned,it probably wouldn't have mattered as it wasn't holding up a build for a magazine article or a contest entry. It will go into the "roundtoit" box- I will build it when I get round to it!
  3. Nice start there Nick, I got one about half way done (like so many others! LOL) and yours might be the spark to get me motivated to get it done. The '67 is among the rarest of the Z-28s as only 602 were produced, making them the fewest among the 1st. Gen Camaros. Funny fact about the '69 Z-28 Camaros. They produced about 19,000 of them and I swear there are still that many on the road, all because folks have slapped badges on a fender!
  4. I dug one of these out and have started the priming and planning. I can't decide if I want to build a modern type(pro touring) car or go for a stock replica of a '66 that I used to pass everyday on the way to high school, hoping to save my money for and buy one day! Can't wait to see how you do with this Don, it just might inspire me to get mine done.
  5. I know this topic is about the '60 Ford Pickup but I did want to say that my '66 Ford F100 showed up the other day and it was as nice as promised. Very little flash and no real issues with the body or other parts. The white resin makes you think the thing was a plastic kit!
  6. As long as we don't mention the "G" word, there is a chance this thread could go on for awhile. I chose to use pig latin, although if the word was spelled backwards, that could work. snilmerg
  7. icksnay emlingray....... don't need you to stir the pot too!
  8. I said Real but I am not real sure! Find out tomorrow if Harry got me!
  9. Thats' the one I am waiting on George. Jeff said he was about ready to ship them when we last exchanged emails, think it was last week. I was intrigued by it and I think you showed your copy of it here on the forum and that was the deciding factor for me to buy it. I have had about 6 different ideas of how I will build it float through my mind since I ordered it! Thanks.
  10. Modelroundup offers the Hendrix resin '60 Ford Pickup kit. I have not seen it or built one but it appears to be a decent kit. I am awaiting shipment on a '66 Ford Pickup resin kit that is supposed to be a very nice and accurate kit. I wish there were more resin kits out there for these classic trucks.
  11. Pure speculation here but I would think that the leasing of the plastic model molds to Round 2 has been profitable for RC2 and that is not the sole reason Tomy bought RC2. It would be in their best interest to continue to lease the molds, short term, while they size up the diecast/toy portion of the RC2 business. Whether or not they decide to put money into the plastic model business will most certainly be decided by a cost analysis and not our input. Best case scenario: Business as usual for Round 2 and some kits come our way. Worst case scenario: Tomy decides to sell the plastic model molds and no one is interested, resulting in the downfall of those kits and they cease production. Of course if my worst case scenario comes true, all those AMT kits just became collectors items and I can retire early!
  12. Ryan, Those look great and definitely caught my eye! I am interested in some, what kind of turn around time should we expect on these? I would hate to order them and then have to wait months while you get caught up with orders! Thanks!
  13. I guess it really depends on what you are looking for Patrick. Are you into building certain types of vehicles? Restoring old kits and need a few pieces? Looking for specific parts? There are many resin casters out there, some are great with their service, some have great product and a few offer both- great service and product. Get more specific and the members here can steer you in the right direction.
  14. look around for one of the Midnite Cowboy wrecker kits. I have seen them on the bay for anywhere from $10-$30 but remember you are really just in need of the wrecker equipment. I see them at swap meets and they usually go for about $20, sometimes less. Depending on your scratchbuilding skills, you may be able to replicate what you want with some Evergreen styrene. I doubt we will see any new wrecker kits from the manufacturers, better chance of seeing something in resin.
  15. Welcome back & home Dave! Hope you stay away from that hospital for a long time and you can get back to building soon.
  16. Okay Clay, you have moved, you are feeling better, and you have unpacked the kids and the kitchen. Now when in the heck are you gonna post a build ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Just kidding, the move is bad enough but to be sick on top of it must really stink. Get settled in and we will all be here to see your next creation. Hopefully you have had a chance to find that Hobbytown USA near you and made friends with the staff there! Thank you again for your service.
  17. Josh, Post as much information as you can about this show. It happens to fall on my wife's birthday, doubt I can make it but you never know!
  18. Not familiar with the Olds wheels/tires but have built about 6 of the snap '69 Camaro kits and have not had any problems with the wheels/tires in those kits. Could be you got kits that were not checked before they were sent. I would think Revell would like to know if the tires are incorrect. I know in the past they were selective in sending out replacement tires as it was being abused by some.
  19. Your best bet will probably be to use an AMT Tahoe kit and cut it down to size. I think someone made a resin body at one time (could be wrong, it is late!)but the Tahoe kit would be the way to go. It has those wheels, mirrors and grille and some simple cutting and gluing and you should be on your way. Nice truck your Dad has there, I am guessing it has been painted as I don't remember that being a factory color. Good luck!
  20. Good for you Don, hope it works out as well the second time around as it did the first time!
  21. Jim, Thank you for informing us of this heroes arrival home, unfortunately not the way he or his family envisioned I am sure. Thanks also for being part of the procession, I am sure it was appreciated by his family. Cpl Turner and many other soldiers have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and that is something that we cannot forget. I try to thank every serviceman and woman when I encounter them for their service and the sacrifices their family has made for us all. As the father of a 17 year old who has designs on joining the Marine Corp in two years, I tend to get a little emotional about these posts knowing that it could be him one day. Take care Cpl. Turner, Semper Fi and Godspeed.
  22. Where do I send my order? I would definitely be interested, especially if they will fit some of the tires in my stash. Hopefully you will offer them with and without the tires?
  23. Thumper- I know you listed this on eBay, did you get any takers? Just curious if someone was taken by your build like so many of us here were? Thanks.
  24. Their catalog is $4, well worth the price once you see all they have to offer. There isn't a website, Norm spends his time developing some great product instead of being online. As Donnie said, best way to get the product is directly from them or at a show they attend.
  25. Exactly Donnie! I find it hard to buy kits that exceed $25, mainly because I already have enough to last me a lifetime! The only collectible kit( read: has not been reissued in it's original form)I have ever bought was an old MPC Jeep CJ-5 kit that could be built 3 different ways. I wanted it and the seller took $30 for it, which to me was all it was worth. I have it among my "don't sell, gonna build it" collection. I have bought a few big rig kits that went for 60-90 dollars but I only have a few of those and they too are in the don't sell pile. P.T. Barnum once said...."there is a sucker born every minute" and while he might not have meant any of us in the model hobby, I do think that some folks get fooled into thinking kits are worth exhorbinant sums of money- buyers and sellers alike.
