  1. But when it is translated into English, does it say "UGLY" ? I have no clue but I can spot ugly without my glasses on!
  2. Looks great from here, I too like the black rally wheels.

    66 GTO

Nice build! A friend of mine had one similar to that in the late '70's, painted bright silver with dark tinted windows. Was fun to drive in a straight line but was a $@#!* to steer or turn! Black velour interior that got hot despite the tinted windows as the previous owner had replaced the door glass with plexiglass windows that didn't roll down. No A/C meant short cruises in hot weather! The car had aluminum panels in the engine compartment and I remember my fingers turning black using a jar of Mother's polish shining that up! Can't wait to see yours done!
  4. Bob, real nice job on that cruiser. You mentioned that you had to build this when you first saw it....was that in your rear view mirror??
  5. Does anyone know if this show is going to be held this year? IIRC it was in April or May in years past and was always a good source for some OOP models and new releases too. Some of the resin guys made the trip too. Thanks in advance! Just checked another forum and found out it is on May 14! Here is a link to the sponsoring club: www.scmodelers.com
  6. Sad to hear that someone would prey on a grieving person by stooping that low to steal a family heirloom like that. Hopefully the police will find it and the people responsible and justice will be served.
  7. That is looking spot on Darin, can't wait to see it done! I wish I had the patience to duplicate an iconic car like this.
  8. Tom, Thanks for letting us know that the January issue should be in our mailboxes soon. Gregg has had some health issues that has caused some delays and it has been well documented here. Sure hope whomever got you the subscription remembers to renew it when it is due.
  9. The one thing my wife does get about this hobby is that I could be spending as much or more at poker night, bowling night or hanging at the bar getting drunk. Whenever I do get the occasional time at the hobby desk, she will inquire about the car I am working on, not that she knows the difference between a '57 Black Widow and a '32 5 Window
  10. Terry, My father has had his share of battle with blood clots over the years and you are right, they are nothing to mess with! Be careful, follow the doctors' orders and get well soon. Let's hope that you do not have to stay on the blood thinners after your hospital stay because if you do a little nick of the x-acto knife could be bad! My father had to switch to an electric razor because of his blood thinner meds and he had to be very careful using tools. Take care and get better, we are pullin for ya!
  11. Despite my 300+ kits, I would not classify myself as a hoarder but my wife would! My kits are stored neatly and the finished ones are in a display case. I think that as long as I intend to build them, then I am not hoarding them. I have been known to buy a kit just for some parts with no intention to build the kit. It is those kits that I am willing to part out if someone needs something from them.
  12. That is going to be a different ride to be sure! I worked at a MB dealer in high school and the owner had an all original Gull Wing that was valued at $500,000 and that was 30 years ago. There were only 3 people allowed to drive that car (and I wasn't one of them) due to the rarity and value. I would think a Viper V-10 would look good under that hood, that or a 572!
  13. Glad to see you posting again Rob, your builds never disappoint and are always well executed! Thanks, keep them coming!
  14. George- Clay is right, get the store info and check with the manager. Tell him how disappointed you are and that your club members are too. Maybe then the selection will change. If not, contact corporate offices. As a reminder to everyone, they are advertising the shadow boxes and display boxes at 50% off. This means the plastic display cases in the model aisle are 50% off! I found that out one day and have only bought them when they are on sale. I do not have a sealed display case so I buy these when they are on sale for my builds. The Hobby Lobby's around my area are a hit and miss. Usually after a sale like this one it will be slim pickens for a while, until they replenish the inventory.
  15. It might be my eyes but that frame and bed floor look like they have a little bit of a twist in them. Are they sitting flat on the table or are they truly warped slightly? I agree that it doesn't look too bad, but I would be worried about a warped frame or bed floor.
  16. Nice start and I like the idea of an otherwise stock looking vehicle. Paint choices sound nice, what are you going to run as a powerplant, stock motor or something a little more potent?
  17. Congrats George, not many people can boast about being married that long! It would be nice if you posted a picture of you and your wife....That one Mike put up with you and daughter was a nice one
  18. I think what makes Eric and Kenny great casters is that they care and they are builders too, not just someone trying to make a fast buck. Nice people to do business with and if you ever see them at a show, talk with them, they are really into what they are doing.
  19. Was 85 here in the Carolinas yesterday, gonna cool down to the upper 60s today and rain and cooler weather moves in for a few days. Probably gonna have to mow the grass again this weekend (my apologies to those of you who can't see their lawn because of snow!). Happiest day of my life was 6 years ago when I packed up my house and moved from Northern Illinois to Charlotte. Selling that 8 hp, two stage 30 inch snowblower and giving away my snow shovels ranks right up there with the packing and moving! Went back to Chicago this past winter right after the big blizzard and it was a good reminder why I moved South. Spring is coming, just sooner for some!
  20. Check the Modelhaus, Don has lots of parts for many kits. The bumpers for this kit would $6.50 each.
  21. Thanks for posting Bob, those are some nice models and the 1:1 cars were nice to see as well. I really liked that black 55 Chevy and the black 66 El Camino, those paint jobs were spectacular and the details & chrome were beautiful.
  22. Thanks for posting those pix Len, nice bunch of models there! I really liked that mid-60's Dodge crew cab race car hauler.
  23. Freddy, Mike is right (aren't all Mikes right????) about the sanding metallics. Lay on some clear as that Tamiya lacquer needs a couple of coats to hold the shine in. Use either a Tamiya clear coat (for compatibility reasons) or try using Future floor wax. I have recently tried it and love it. It is very easy to use and can be brushed on or sprayed through an airbrush. A big bottle will last you a long time. Check out this section for more info on the Future wax thread.
  24. As P.T. Barnum once said.........."There's a sucker born every minute". All we can do about bad resin is to show the pictures here and let people draw their own conclusions. I don't think that would fall into the "Bashing" category. Caveat Emptor (buyer beware). The shame of it all is that I was thinking about ordering one of those bodies; Glad I didn't as I have a wide array of hammers left over from my carpenter and mechanic days!!!!
  25. Nice job on that Bonnie Rob, glad to see you back building models and nice ones at that! Can't wait to see what else you have in store. Are you still painting firetrucks at Pierce?
