  1. Yes, in the final analysis I'm glad to have it - I just wish they had gotten a little closer in a few areas, but this has been discussed elsewhere. And it looks like the B/FX Comets ran without the shock tower brace, hmm . . . https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0112-121126/
  2. Whatever version they do, I still wish they'd fix that firewall.
  3. T-Bird and Watson? Ha, "one man's meat is another man's poison" I guess- I'd buy one each of those, and I'm not buying much these days. Not to say I'm a typical buyer.
  4. I believe that car is running a straight axle. There were all kinds of different set-ups being tried at this time - narrowed shock towers, torsion springs, and straight axles - and most of the well known cars didn't stay the same for long. The Moebius Comet at least provides a good starting point.
  5. From the picture of the FIA Cobra engine bay earlier in this thread, it looks like they put the adjustable/slotted part of the bracket on top - kind of the reverse of these photos. You won't end up seeing much of the lower bracket once the engine is in the car.
  6. Slixx #1941 includes markings for the '65 Cyclone. http://www.slixx.com/1941.htm?id=2672
  7. OK, cool - who's going to build this? It's just a more modern take on AFX's gasser build from not too long ago.
  8. The AMT kit boxes were pretty small in 1960 - would the Falcon promo box be even smaller than the normal kit box? Maybe the same size as the Levacar box?
  9. Yours looks like the factory "Onyx" black? This one is more of a dark gray metallic with some pearl clear over it. I came into a quart of it years ago.
  10. I'm hoping they eventually bring back the '60 Thunderbird - that was the first model I ever built.
  11. I'm still plugging away! The body is painted, foiled, and the glass is installed. I had a bit of a misadventure with the rear window. I love the way that Moebius designed the kit to have the glass install from the outside, but make sure you get the fit right first! I thought I had it, then after foiling it was a little tight, so I decided to pull it out and sand the edges down a bit, which meant I was going to have to re-do the foil. As I was removing the foil, I cracked the glass (it's a nice, thin casting), which necessitated contacting Moebius Customer Service for a replacement. Naturally, I was more careful the second time around, and ultimately decided it was better to install the window before foiling it. You can decide for yourself, just passing that on . . .
  12. The AMT '67 Shelby Mustang is a fine kit, if that floats your boat. Excellent mechanical detail in particular, and recently available.
  13. The documentary about this guy - "Marwencol" - was released in 2010 and is pretty extraordinary. Curious to see how they'll do the narrative version. http://marwencol.com/documentary/#about-the-film
  14. I'm assuming from the price that this is the Piranha dragster by itself - not the drag team set that was talked about elsewhere. I've got two Piranhas from the last release - plus some aftermarket decals - so I don't see myself buying another one, but I'm guessing they'll go back to the original (and very cool) box art and put the right decals in this time.
  15. I bought some decals for the Mondello Fiat a few days ago from his EBay page. They arrived today - great product and service!
  16. Thanks, Joe. I knew about the sale, so I was prepared for a little turmoil or delay. Coincidentally or not, I heard back from Erik at Moebius today. Sounds like they're a bit busy and stressed over there, but he promised to get my request taken care of soon.
  17. Anybody had any contact with Moebius customer service recently? I sent them an email about 10 days ago and haven't received a reply, and when I called the phone number listed on the website just now I found that it's disconnected.
  18. Don't forget the '65 Barracuda, which is pretty accurately represented (for the most part) by the Hemi Under Glass kit: http://www.hotrod.com/articles/1965-plymouth-barracuda-funny-car/
  19. Thanks for posting those shots. Based on what was posted previously, it appears to me that Slixx did the later version of the car - where the gold was more prominent - and AMT has done the earlier version, where more of the red body color shows through. It's hard to tell how accurate the lace pattern is, but I suspect it will look OK over paint. So apart from the lack of foil (which I can imagine being expensive to produce) I like what I'm seeing. Maybe the aftermarket will step up, but whoops, there goes some more of your money!
  20. Nice work so far! I've built both of those cars, but with different liveries. Both went together without any problems - they're the kind of kits people talk about when they say "Tamiya quality". Have fun!
  21. I knew right away from the thread title what you were working on! I've been meaning to do one myself for a long time. Good build!
  22. Apparently I nabbed a Foose Ford just in time. I don't buy many kits these days (too many already), but decided I wanted one a month or so back. Went down to my LHS only to find they were out of stock and weren't due for a couple of months, so I went home and found one on EBay for around $20. The bankruptcy thing happened just after that. I guess I lucked out - looks like prices are rising, at least for now.
  23. I've been contemplating how to do this for a project I have going on (the Kurtis Sport Car has an engine turned dash). My thought is to find a good image online of a flat engine turned piece, size it appropriately, print it on to clear decal film, then apply that decal over thin metal or a Bare Metal Foiled piece.
  24. Big Howlin' Wolf fan here, but I didn't know about this car. Great idea for a build, and fine execution!
