A very cool and tasteful build. I really like your color choice, it's beautiful. Great wheels too.

Talk about two thumbs up! Great job on your RT Gene! This model has it all. Love the color. A VERY clean build. 2020 was not too good to you Gene, but it sounds like you have some great memories to look back on. Eric

Sorry to be unoriginal but cool is definitely the word. Just the thing for a day at the beach, as long as you don't mind lots of attention!

Gorgeous Roadrunner Bob. I love the color choice! Your chassis detailing is terrific too. I also like the fact that you gave it a 383 engine, just a little something different.

Thanks for all the encouraging words everyone! Time to rip the shrink wrap off another one and get back to it! A happy holiday to all. Stay safe.

So, you take a piece of disproportionate plastic and simply sand, slice and saw away anything that doesn't look like a '40 Mercury convertible? Sounds simple enough, but I have to be able to see the inaccuracies and know where to cut before I can fix them. That's the trick. I'm very impressed (but not surprised) at how smooth and seamless this model turned out, given how extensive the body work was. I've said this before, but how you can scratch build a chassis like this and have all four wheels touching the ground and the stance spot-on too is beyond me. I'm a big fan of chrome reverse wheels and wide white wall tires, they're a perfect choice for this car. Another unique and superb build Cliff. Thanks for including all the in-progress photos! Eric

Beautiful build on your Impala! Absolutely gorgeous paint job! The black on black color scheme gives it a cool, sinister look. The black wall tires match it well too.

Great job on the panel truck Gene. It looks very period correct. I'd like to see it again once you get the business name up on the side!

It looks like a real sleeper. You could put a 429 under the hood! A great looking model. Razor sharp execution on this.

Thank you very much for looking Patric. The engine I used is from the Revell '65 Chevy stepside pickup.

Cool stance, love seeing hot rodded flat heads! Great wheels too!

Thanks Mark, I'm glad you like it! First I sanded off the molded texture on the seats. I cut out the paper inserts and glued them in with 3M spray adhesive. It's pretty sticky stuff!

Hi Tom, thanks for looking. I use flocking glued down with 3M spray adhesive. It's the only way I can get the fuzz to lay down evenly.

I chose to build this Belair as a replica of one of my childhood family cars. My father bought the real car used around 1965 at a Ford dealership in my town. I was only five years old at the time but I remember going with him to pick it up. In the often-seen white with red interior, the car was equiped with a 283 and full wheel covers. The model is painted with Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and Testors wet look clear. The interior is Testors Guards Red enamel. I tried a little experiment with the fabric inserts on the seats. I found a photo sample of the fabric online and scaled it down to fit the seats. I printed it out on ordinary 20lb. bond paper on a laser printer, cut it out and stuck it down with 3M spray adhesive. I also experimented with the giving the glass a subtle tint by dipping the Glass in future shine that had a few drops of blue food dye mixed in. (I'm sure I read that on this forum somewhere.) I pirated the small block engine from the Revell '65 Chevy stepside pickup. The tires are from my parts box and the wheel covers are from the Revell 62 Impala kit. It's a great kit that I would like to build again. Maybe in a more unexpected colour, not red, white or black!

Great job! Replica stock is my favorite building style, so this one really grabbed me. That's a beautiful and unexpected color choice. -
'54 Autocar tractor with added '50s era reefer trailer
Smitty replied to traditional's topic in Diecast Corner
Cliff, you and Larry did a beautiful job on this model. I really love to see these classic rigs. The modified trailer is a great match to the Autocar and the reefer unit is really something to see. Quite an accomplishment at 1/50 scale! Stay safe, Eric -
Thanks everyone!

Hi David, I thought I'd show you a '50 Meteor coupe that I did several years ago. I used the AMT '49 Mercury grill that you mentioned. You may have seen the '51 Ford trans-kit that the Modelhaus used to make to convert the AMT '49 or '50 Fords. I don't know if there are any of those floating around, but I imagine they would be difficult to find. Good luck with your sedan project. Be sure and post it when it's done, I'd love to see it!

These are very nice models of some beautiful race cars Cliff. The modified red car looks very tough indeed. Great job! I really like the Halibrands on it. Thanks for posting these. Eric

What a gorgeous model! It's a real joy to see such a rare subject built so beautifully. I think one of your talents is your ability to root out the the parts of a kit that detract from the model's realism and replace them with your own better solutions. Love the colour too!

You did a great job bringing this one back to life. I would not have guessed it was in such poor condition. Now this old Desoto will live on! i

You did a beautiful job on this! The '41 is my favorite of this era of Fords. Your body work is seamless. Great job detailing under the hood too.

That's a nice haul Howard! What a trip down memory lane. You'll have fun restoring those! I had one of those Eldon Sand Draggin' kits when I was a kid. Eric

70 Plymouth HEMI GTX 1/25 Scale
Smitty replied to AmericanMuscleFan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
That's hilarious! My reaction to the photos of your model was to start laughing (quietly), because I don't think I could quite believe my eyes! Just amazing. Thanks for posting it! -
A beautiful Cuda Tim. Very restrained and tasteful. I have to believe that many of the '70 Cudas built back in the in the day were along the lines of your clean, classy build. As a side note, I think you were right in describing the styling of the '71 Cudas as over done. I never really thought about it until you mentioned it - but when you see them with the rear wing, the rear window louvers the big side billboards the front fender gills and that busy grill, they stand in stark contrast to the relative simplicity of the 1970 models. No matter, I still love 'em anyway!
