We got Vinny from a local shelter. Poor guy was caught as a stray in Texas and shipped up here and then landed in 3 foster homes. The last one was the best and she brought him to us a few days ago. A Terrier mix about 1 1/2 years old. He's pretty skittish about things but coming along better than we could hope for. Never going to replace my recent loss but our remaining dog seems to like him and the process of training and providing a good home will keep us busy.

I like the "rain" picture. I sometimes tell the wife after washing both cars that I just caused it to rain now.

How much time do you spend at a modeling session?
TonyK replied to Joe Nunes's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Joe, very much the same as you. I'm up early every day so I spend an hour or 2 at my workbench in the garage. Can't do much more than that and am always amazed at these guys that spend hours and hours building models. Some days I go back out in the afternoon to do some spray painting. -

Your weathering is amazing! Really enjoyed looking at this model. Well done! -
Same as us about Lowe's. The wife ripped the shipping guy a new one on how they botched this whole scheduling deal with a product they didn't have, telling us a delivery time and then not letting us know it isn't happening while we sit and wait. She was very stern about it but also told the guy she was sorry he works for a company that is this bad. Amazing how companies such as Lazy Boy and Lowe's and other places have gone to "you know what". Just sad.

Smokin Joe’s Edsel

You did a real nice job making this into a NASCAR racer. Decals fit just right and the paint job is perfect. Still an Edsel though. LOL -
Mod Podge, tacky glue, Elmers?
TonyK replied to TonyK's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the responses. I've been using epoxy for so long but in my old age realized there might be a better way. Epoxy works well for filling any gaps when the fit isn't all that good with some of these windows but I get tired of the whole process of mixing and applying so hoped you guys would come up with a quick and easy way and you've helped. -
My wife wanted to buy from a smaller appliance store but all her Internet searching and contact with a couple of stores were telling us the ones we wanted weren't available. We wanted to replace all our appliances and had a specific brand and type we wanted. The person we dealt with at the Lowe's store was very helpful but it all went downhill after that.

Your weathering looks great and the figure looks good too. You nailed it! -
Watched one of those HPI Guys workshop videos today and noticed him using Mod Podge glue to attach windows. It looked pretty easy. I've known people to use Elmer's glue. I always use epoxy but am open to something better or easier. What about the thick tacky glue? Anyone use that? I also use Testors canopy glue but only for small applications. Just thought I'd get some input for some options. Thanks.

Lowe's. They shouldn't even be in business. Ordered a range in August and paid for it. Told it wouldn't be ready until November which is the norm these days. Got a call last night that it would be delivered today between 3 and 7. Looked up the delivery status a while ago and it says "cancelled". Wife called the store and after a couple of failed calls and being on hold she finally got to talk to someone. Order is cancelled because they don't have the range in stock, it won't ever be made, and they refunded our money. oh heaven's to Betsy!?!! How did the whole thing happen in the first place?

Yes, Walter Matthau is one of my favorites too. The Odd Couple and the 2 Grumpy Old Men movies are some of his best.

I've been seeing eggnog flavored with pumpkin spice in the store. Just doesn't sound good to me and I wonder how much gets thrown away. I love eggnog and allow myself a half gallon once a year in December.

That is a different subject and I like it. A very nice job! -
Nice looking model and I especially like the interior!

Very good! I did the Road Warrior version so it's nice to see a variation bringing it back to the original car. I like it.

Here's an interesting thing I've discovered. We are looking into getting another dog not as a replacement (as that could never happen) but hoping it will mostly be a companion to our remaining dog. She looks around wondering where her brother is. Sad to see this. Anyway, how often do we see ads on tv, the radio, wherever about all the dogs that need homes. We've been on the Internet looking and signing up for adoption but it's a bit scarce. A couple of breeders we know won't have puppies for many months. Don't really want to go that route anyway. Where's all these dogs when you want one? I'm speaking locally.

I was at Costco last week and all the Christmas stuff were out on display. If you wanted some Halloween decorations you were out of luck. Also, Hallmark starts their "Countdown to Christmas" movies this Friday which means tons of movies from now until most likely after the first of the year. Geez!!

Sadly, I am considering being done building.
TonyK replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, those are some nice models. Bad thing that happened to you but glad you're still with us. I got to think you'd give it a try and keep building models. I'm sure there would be some frustration but you could use a vise perhaps for holding things while you paint? If you're right handed I'd think you could do a lot. Trying to give encouragement and I hope the best for you. -

A lot of work! And it's done perfectly. Amazing! -
Thought I'd share a picture of my dog Marty that we had to put down today. He turned 15 last month but has been having a few health problems and decided to stop eating the last few days. Took him to the vet last week and blood tests confirmed some problems. They gave us some pills but won't work if he's not eating. My wife and I discussed the right thing to do and had an "at home" euthanasia performed. My churning guts have now turned to a hollow empty gut. Every step through the house brings a memory. We still have his sister Polly with us so I have to be strong for her. I've read all your past experiences with this sort of thing and got teary eyed about it and now I'm there and it's the worst thing ever. I've lost my parents in the past but this feels worse than that. Sounds bad but it's how I'm feeling.
