Retired Redneck From the Mid West
TonyK replied to KC FitiWerks's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Wow, you've got some crazy looking models there! Very fun to look at. I like your imagination. Welcome. -
My brother-in-law has some credentials as a "Master Recycler" and used to collect my bags of sprues to drop off at the recycling plant but years ago they stopped accepting it for some odd reason. Most likely not cost effective. Always felt good to be able to do that instead of just throwing it away. Decades ago I worked for an off road motorcycle outfit that made plastic gas tanks, face guards, fenders, etc. and we used to grind up the extra "flash" and use it again.

Snoopy Ice Hockey
TonyK replied to unclescott58's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
You made me laugh with your comments about winter and hockey. Hockey is my 2nd favorite sport (after auto racing). I have seen this "kit" before but looks like a toy so have no interest but thanks for showing us. -
Always wanted to make a backdrop for model pictures but a simple one would do. Just haven't found the right idea and materials. Yours is great! The figures add life to the scene. Where did they come from?

Snoopy as Joe Cool

I'd probably go for the Bugatti as I'm a race fan more than a surf fan. -
Snoopy as Joe Cool

Thank you for the review. Sometimes I like to get a goofy kit like this to have some fun from serious building but I want it to be worth it in the end. Your experience helps me to decide if I would buy it or not. Nice job btw. -
My Dad has Alzheimer's, and he's forgotten where I live.
TonyK replied to stavanzer's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Sorry to hear about your situation and I hope you can work it out with as little pain as possible. Several years ago my Mom got the Alzheimers and she lives close to Seattle while I'm in Oregon. My sister lives up there and arranged to get her in a facility and I helped move her in. After that my sister kept me informed about things and told me that our Mom didn't recognize her any more. I chose to not go visit her so that I could remember the last time I saw her and she knew who I was. Some people thought this was bad on my part but I'll never forget many many years ago when a good friend of mine came home after visiting his mom and was devastated that she didn't know who he was. I wasn't going to have that same experience and am good with my decision after she died a few years ago. -
"Wow" is the word that kept going through my head. The turbine is done very well and the roll cage and the VW itself is beautiful!

at what point is too long to wait for something to be shipped
TonyK replied to MrMiles's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I don't have patience for this type of thing anymore. My credit card company has been real good in the past about any bogus charges and/or situations like this when I request the payment be denied. Your situation seems a bit sticky but I would do whatever I could to stop the charges. -
Revell BMW M1 Procar Custom Livery
TonyK replied to galaxyg's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Great use of your talent on the build and your livery! I had 2 of the ESCI kits back when and after building one I sold the other. Too much frustration. -
Great build! Can't go wrong with Tamiya and a DTM car but so much is covered up after you get done. Glad you gave us a nice shot of the interior.

rat finks & weirdos

Fun! Great painting skills on these figures! -
My son runs a landscaping store for a multi-million dollar company and has been interviewing people for a job. They come in in an hour late, dressed shabby, lazy attitude, etc. They can't pass a drug test or background check. He thinks he finally found a guy who has moved up from California who gave a decent interview and is confident he'll pass the tests.

Looking forward to it as usual. I read every page of this magazine and it's done too soon.

That Tamiya Mustang is a real nice kit. An enjoyable build.

Yep, played golf 3 times with the brother-in-law and family at 2 different courses and I sucked. I related to Happy Gilmore with decent long drives but umpteen tries putting. Strange game but I'm amazed at the people who can enjoy it with all the frustration they must endure.

Your model looks very good! Nice clean, sharp build.
-
You did a real nice job on this. I believe I have missed a mold line before too. You learn from it and it most likely won't happen again.
-
Very nice! Very sharp! The Larson and Elliott models are waiting for me to build but they look intimidating.
-
That blue looks good to me! Real nice model you built.

Seems to be ridiculously hot everywhere but here in NW Oregon. We can't get to 70F and it's mostly cloudy all the time. Have a neighbor from Texas and they say they're loving this.

Great pictures. The one with the child and cat says so much. I feel for you and your family.

Good discussion and the comment about pills and such reminds me of a buddy I worked with. He kept having high cholesterol and he kept eating like a rabbit and had small portions of other food yet still had high cholesterol. He had to eventually take a pill everyday to control it. Some of our bodies just don't cooperate no matter what we do and may need a little help beyond diet and exercise. No shame in that.

You captured the perfect look of a real lowrider with your model. Amazing work!
