  1. "No one wants to work" does seem to be the norm these days and if they work there's no pride in themselves to do a good job. My son has trouble hiring people and recently got a guy who seemed decent but after about 3 weeks he just stopped coming to work. Wouldn't answer his phone so after a few days they were forced to terminate him. Now he has to go through all the trouble to find another person and do the interview, background check, drug test, etc. This isn't the first time this has happened either. I'm at a loss to understand people anymore.
  2. Opened a factory sealed Revell Indy car kit and there's 2 wheels cut from the tree. The bag was opened. A bit of a mystery. I always open a new kit to make sure everything is there and check the parts for problems but for some reason I didn't open this one and here I am. Old kit so not a good situation. Might be able to buy wheels from one of the aftermarket outfits but really irked.
  3. I would say our female dog does more licking in that area than our male dog. Don't know if that falls into the "laugh" category or "crass" category but just thought I'd throw it out there.
  4. Just found out a local restaurant my wife and I love has closed. It's called Gustav's and serves excellent German food and always a great selection of German beer on tap. A few years ago another favorite restaurant closed. It was our where I took my future wife on our first date and we had gone there for over 30 years for great Mexican food.
  5. That is an excellent replica! And anything dealing with Bathurst is exciting to me.
  6. A couple more. Car is 1/72nd scale and the racer is 1/60th.
  7. Here's a few but I don't recall the exact kit. A 1/43rd garage scene with a metal car that was already painted (I think) but everything else needed to be painted.
  8. The Big Lebowski
  9. You're exactly right. The "hobby" is interesting no matter what the subject is and that's why I read this magazine from cover to cover. And Lowriders......A model of them and/or a real car makes my jaw drop. The talent these people have to create those paint jobs are unreal. Great job on the magazine btw.
  10. I got what you were saying and feel the same way. Let the young enthusiastic ones learn this new stuff but I still enjoy reading about it.
  11. A great collection of various versions of this model. I like these models but always have a problem coming up with different builds but you obviously have a knack for it and the talent to complete them in a realistic way. Thanks for sharing and hopefully we'll see many more.
  12. The usual. FedEx. Informed me for a week that my delivery would be Thursday Sep. 1st but didn't get it. Now it says "pending" and it's been sitting in Wisconsin.
  13. Yes, I'll be getting a couple of these!
  14. Thank you for the Crab Bucket Theory reference. Never heard of it before but it's so obvious when you read about it. Also "thanks" because it's nice to learn things when you're old. Learning is brain healthy.
  15. I like Tamiya paints; spray and bottle. Mostly rely on bottle paints for lots of small detail painting but a couple of the spray colors mentioned above work well for large parts. Never thought of looking at the military colors for more variety in metal so will have to do that. Buying online is how I get Tamiya paints so I try to combine a model purchase with some paint to make the shipping cost worth it.
  16. "Oh George....Not the livestock."
  17. I use that Christmas Vacation quote a lot. It can be applied in so many ways.
  18. Not gonna do any 3D printing but don't mind buying some if they offer something really good.
  19. That was a good "sermon". I'm always aware of how many people have things worse than I do whenever I start feeling down about some things. I also take time to smell the roses as the saying goes. This actually belongs in what pleases me but it doesn't hurt to make this spot a bit better.
  20. O Brother where art thou.
  21. Excellent build! The weathering and chipped paint on the body and propeller along with everything else is great. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Reminds me of way back when I was frying up some hamburger in a pan with no shirt on. Splattering grease on your skin hurts. I have never cooked shirtless again.
  23. I really like this kit but already built it a long time ago so no point in buying another one. I hope it sells well.
  24. First one is from Animal House. Could the 2nd one be Back to the Future?
