  1. One of my favourites...
  2. I'd like a pair of those scoops to build a more accurate early version of the '55 Nomad "Wompin' Wagon" which had two on its hood. The AMT kit supplies only a "Ramcharger-type" hood scoop.
  3. What could be more “hot rod” than a burn out…? ’Burnin’ Rubber’ by Gene Moles & the Softwinds (1964).
  4. I just finished the ‘65 Chevy II AWB kit which has been on my to-do list for about 25 years. I enjoyed the quick build but the kit’s problem arose when I tried to afix the body to the chassis/interior assembly. The fit was awful. Ended up cutting the window unit into front and rear glass so that the roof can come down closer to the roll bar. Also had to fabricate an right-angle styrene bracket to afix to the firewall and cowl underside so that I could create a front glue-down point. The kit, otherwise, has no obvious glue points to cement the body to the chassis. Seems like a case of, not poor design but, NO design… Anyways, in the end I was happy to git ‘er done!
  5. I’ve been fully aware that that’s the case. I have an AMT ‘65 GTO convertible kit standing by to be raided for parts. The point is that Round2 should be doing this for us.
  6. It may appear that your subject was hijacked, but the point that I was making was that Round2 has created these opportunities, they need to complete them. (Case in point was their AMT ‘63 Nova station wagon Craftsman Plus curbside soon became the ‘63 Nova wagon full kit with engine. They need to continue this trend.)
  7. If the parts are all coming together, I guess it’s all a matter of time… I’m also waiting for the AMT ‘65 and ‘68 GTO hardtop kits to come with engines and optional parts to become full car kits…
  8. Vintage box art usually does it for me. For example, NASCAR never ran such a car in 1967 as the one below, but, heck, I love it and I’d build one exactly like it!
  9. Thanks for restoring and posting. That’s a real modeling time piece you have there. I like the stock 327 V8 engine. I still scratch my head on why AMT put that engine in the ‘63 Chevy II hardtop and convertible kits. (?)
  10. The original Monogram 3-window coupe (in 1/24 scale) top was stock-height. The original AMT '36 Ford chopped 3-window coupe (1/25 scale) top is quite distinctive. [Models below by 'Ron S.']
  11. I'd agree with Mark, above. Look like Halibrand magnesium racing wheels...fronts if skinny.
  12. Six re-issues have the stock-height 3-window coupe roof: AMT 2336 (1965) AMT T218 (1967) AMT T243 (1968?) AMT A136 (1973) AMT/Ertl 6591 (1983) AMT/Round2 824 (2013)
  13. Completed my first two builds of 2024 (Completed and off my bucket list!): Kits are: The new AMT 1302 Chevelle Funny Car ("Time Machine"), and AMT 30105 Chevy II "Rat Packer" (1998 Ertl re-issue), with AMT 1293 "Twister" kit decals.
  14. Here's a few more according to Stevens International...
  15. 1962 and ‘63 Chevy IIs came only with 4- and 6-cylinder engines. 1964 introduced the 283 V8 and 1965 added the 327. Some drag racers were swapping V8s into Chevy IIs for the drag strip from early on as Factory Experimentals (FX class). The AMT ‘63 Chevy II hardtop and convertible kits were produced with only a SB (327?) V8 engine with stock 4-bbl intake or optional tri-carb set-up. Why AMT put V8s in their ‘63 Chevy IIs when GM didn’t is a mystery.
  16. Those little Denman front drag tires are in the last two re-issues of the AMT '56 Ford Victoria kits by Round2 [AMT 807 (2013), AMT 1308 (2022)].
  17. Back in my early teens, that model wouldn’t have survived an afternoon of firecrackers or the pellet gun…
  18. You can also try the Revell 85-4516 '37 Ford Pickup 2n1 kit. The hot rod Ford flathead looks like a winner.
  19. When "hopping-up" my AMT '36 Ford flathead, I used hot rod flathead parts from the Revell 85-2062 (2007) '32 Ford Sedan Street Rod kit. I was pretty pleased with it. Heads and intake went easily onto the stock '36 flathead V8 block. Should do the same for the '40s.
  20. The last original-issue 1/25 scale car or light truck by the the original AMT Corp. before Lesney ownership? The Subaru Brat perhaps? (Image: Page from the 1979 AMT/Lesney catalog)
  21. P.S.: I built this very kit this past year from a used kit from eBay. Built it as a 1960s local track car.
  22. For 1956, the least trimmed model was the One-Fifty. Chevrolet offered no car that year without some side trim. If you see a '56 without side trim, it's custom or a race car. Of the '55-56-57 Chevy models, only the 1955 One-Fifty sedans and wagon had no side trim.
  23. My flathead V-8 collection from various AMT Trophy '32-40 Ford kits from over the years. The green I chose was Testors 1164 Mat O.D. Green.
  24. Re-boot of this one...?
