  1. Fabulous! You still have the same email as last year? You'll be hearing from me soon. Thanks! As to the color(s) on mine.... Kinda thinking of maybe a light seafoam green, fading with either a darker jade green or something in the turquoise/blue line. Testor flake gold with a burnt orange fade is also a possibility. Also thinking of pearl white, maybe. Might have to check out the nail polish store soon. I see I'm not the only one who sees the similarity to the 2G Corvair. I also see a little Sting Ray in there, too. Maybe it's because I'm currently watching Ozark, with lots and lots of boats, but I'm also thinking about overall pearl white with blue fade along the lower edges of the body, like a waterline. Might work well with the boat-ish front end. Hmmmmmmm....

That is one darn fine model in every way. VERY well done and model on!
  3. I haven't had good luck with the Rustoleum 2X stuff. Doesn't cover well and seems "watery" to me. Now I only use it over Walmart cheap primer, and it does okay-ish. I just noticed that "Miracal" stuff for the first time the other day. Was tempted, but just laid in a good stock of that Touch N Tone cheap primer. But I like the idea of the "semi flat dark gray." That could be useful.
  4. Yah, me too, but I'm betting that's not a high priority on the new Euro-Revell's list. I think we'll be lucky if they get the '30 A Coupe tool up and running again.
  5. I bought one cheap at Ollie's a couple years ago. Haven't started it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. If it goes well, I might do all the Lindberg 1/64 bombers--B-58, He 111, Ju 88, there might have been another one that slips my mind at the moment. And then build the Revell 1/64 B-25, also recently reissued.
  6. I've had periods like that--everything goes wrong for four or five straight paint jobs, and then the next few go just fine. All part of the natural cussedness of the Universe.
  7. Yah. The newest of them is, what, the ex-MPC "Switchers" T, which dates to the mid '70s?
  8. I'd just go with whatever candy or transparent red you're most comfortable with--Testor, Tamiya, HOK, whatever.
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Woof Woof!
  10. Dunno there's that much difference. Until the big virus dempanic shutdown, my best source of rebuildable glue bombs and even some reasonably priced older kits was a monthly local toy show. It was always packed with both vendors and customers, every month, and models weren't even 5% of it. Most of it was toys, comics, and memorabilia from the '60s, '70s, '80s, and so forth. Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, GoBots, D&D, and just about anything else you can think of. Grown-ass men spending perfectly good U.S. dollars on such stuff, just as I spend them on glue bombs and vintage car stuff. Different nerdy strokes for different nerdy folks.
  11. Yes. I even had a song prepared: "It's like RAY-ee-ain, on your wedding day, it's a free-ee ride, when you've already paid...."
  12. Looks very period-correct. Can't wait to see where this goes. Drive on!
  13. Looking good! Drive on!
  14. Cool project! Hope to see you back on it sometime!
  15. You do know, don't you, that you're speaking to a bunch of people who build plastic model cars, and that most of us starting doing this when we were kids?
  16. Please post a pic of your "band bus" as-is and tell us how long it's been stalled. I'll put it on the list.
  17. That came out great! Nice color, nice finish, great wheels/tires and overall sit. Well done and model on!
  18. Thanks! I appreciate it. Model on!
  19. Now THAT is a TRUE restoration, a term that's almost always misused around here. VERY well done, my friend!
  20. Okay, guitars are cool, but let's stay on topic here, fellas. Why not start a great guitar thread down in the Off Topic section? Thanks and model on!

  22. Where did you get this paint color name? What are you wanting to paint?
  23. I'd have been a lot more enthusiastic about that one if it had been a hardtop or sedan.
  24. Very cool project--I'm glad to see you starting it. I thought you'd be the right person to give a home to those wild custom parts! I bought a glue bomb of the same custom at a flea market about two years ago. I asked Steve if it would be okay when he started his build if I could tag along in this thread with a complete rebuild of mine, and he thought that was a cool idea, so I'll be doing that. My starting point is shown below. I'm not sure if I'll be using the custom bubble top or not--if I can save it, I will. I too am of mixed mind about the clear hood. Maybe we can find a board member willing to mold us a couple copies in resin? One thing I could use help with is paint. I need to start visualizing what I want my finished product to look like, to help me stay motivated. What color(s) would this look good in? I'm thinking about trying a Winfield-type fade paint job--what colors would work well for this on this car?
  25. Is Buffy on Netflix? I never watched it but became a Joss Wheden fan after Firefly. I'd like to give it a try.
