  1. Huh. I posted 4 pics earlier this morning, no problems.
  2. When I was a deputy sheriff, one of my favorite partners was a black deputy who would pull a coin from his pocket and say, "Here's a dime. Why don't you go call somebody who...." with an extremely evil smile. Imagine Dave Chappelle delivering the line and you'll be in the ballpark. Another of the best things he said was once, describing a delinquent taxes demand letter from the IRS. According to him, it read, "You best un-ass them 2300 balloons most rikki-tik, junior."
  3. Funny you should say that. I'm about to start on a pre-painted (red) Polar Lights '65 Coronet, and the idea is to Snake-slap it together with as LITTLE additional paint and detailing as I can stand, kinda like if I were Snake-Fuing a diecast or rescuing a toy-show glue bomb. If it turns out well, I have a pre-painted (green) AMT '71 Duster in the Snakepit, too.
  4. Since this once-nice kit can no longer be built as a "stock" Mako Shark, there is no reason NOT to build it any way you want, as any way you build it will be a "phantom." I like what you did with this one! (I'm hoping to do mine as what a '68-'72 Corvette might have looked like if Chevy had gone with the Mako Shark for the '68 instead of heavily modifying the shape.) Well done and model on!
  5. It can often be polished out. Here's what the glass in that blue Impala looked like when I got it:
  6. I think we have a winner!
  7. That wasn't me. I hadn't even noticed you existed.
  8. I do this all the time. More than new builds these days, in fact. Every one is different, with its own challenges. I recently discovered Krylon Foil paint, which does a pretty decent job of rechroming old bumpers and stuff. In these pics, the white car's bumpers were rechromed with Krylon Foil, and the blue one has original chrome parts from 1967. There's not a HUGE difference between them.
  9. I've never seen a kit like that. Might have been a toy of some sort.
  10. PREACH IT, Brother Mike! Can I get a AY-men from the choir?
  11. Finished the Snake-Fu on a diecast '69 Firebird, then did a WIX '67 GTO, and got started on a Jada '71 GTO which I hope to finish up tomorrow. It's shaping up as a Diecast Pontiac month!
  12. Very true. Most of the airplane modelers I know think nothing of dropping $50 or more on a kit, and that much or more again in aftermarket "details," decals, and so forth, to say nothing of their paints and references. This thread prompted me to take a look on what I'm spending on my hobby. I just finished my 14th model car project of the year (I got laid off first of February, so have had plenty of time to devote to the hobby, and, even better, the motivation to do so). Six of these were glue bomb/survivor rescues/restos of rare and desirable kits. Five of them, I have about $50 each in, give or take (starting with new kits would have run me over $100 each). The sixth I paid just $3 for (though it's not particularly rare or desirable). The other eight are diecasts. The most I paid for any of these was $20 and the least, $5. The rest were somewhere between $10 and $15. So I basically have about $100, more or less, in those. So for 14 new model cars on my shelf, I've spent something over $350 but well less than $400. (And at least three of the $50 rescues were bought last year, so I paid nothing for them recently.) It would take me some time to figure out how many hours I have in them, but whatever, I consider it all money and time well spent. Because, like the pretty lady on TV selling expensive hair products says, "I'm worth it!"
  13. Very nice! I hereby award you your Green Belt in Snake-Fu! Well done and model on, grasshopper!
  14. Also True Dat. On a somewhat related note, I love it when some longtime military aircraft modeler shows up, announces he's starting his first car project, and asking "what aftermarket is available" for it. My favorite case was the guy who wanted to know what aftermarket was available for the old MPC '69 Camaro. I told him "You're in luck, everything you need is available in one box at a very reasonable price. This box is marked 'Revell 1969 Camaro.' "
  15. I built one! Been almost 30 years ago and I almost forgot about it! I don't recall any problems whatsoever with it.
  16. The first two are $16 + $9 shipping, shipped from outside US, delivery estimated from late March to mid-May. Or maybe never. Third one was Tower Hobbies, $23 plus change, plus of course shipping. If I were ordering a bunch of other stuff from Tower, I'd have them throw one in the box, but don't want/need one bad enough to order it by itself. Still, I'll keep my eye open for a good deal on one of these. Thanks!
  17. I've seen them in black (like mine), silver, and blue, but never burgundy.
  18. Was it the episode where there's an incident of some sort, and David Hedison shouts "Damage Control! Make report!"?
  19. Yes she is. She's not only the best-looking SNL female cast member ever, she's also the funniest. IMHO, of course.
  20. HAHAHAHAHA! Now you have to find some small model rocket engines and make working launchable torpedoes and REALLY irritate the neighbors! BOO-YA!
  21. It looks like fun! I think I have the stock version of this one, in black. It looks pretty good to me and completely satisfies my urge to own a '71-'73 Mustang model, but I'm sure Vamach1 will have a list of faults with it.
  22. And given the current world situation, I wouldn't expect any. We'll be lucky to see this thing at all this year.
