  1. Watch eBay for Falcon glue bombs. You might find one that has just what you need for a very affordable price. It happens.
  2. Got it today and was extremely pleased. Finish in better shape than I thought; few if any scratches. In the pix it looked like it might have been missing paint from one A-pillar but must have been a reflection; it was fine. Missing the outside rearview mirror (as advertised) and radio antenna, no big deal. Also missing a thin chrome strip on the edge of the trunk. I can either live without it or make a replacement if the mood strikes me, not a big deal. It has working coil springs at all four corners! Never seen that before! Doesn't look like it will need much Snake-Fu. Sand the tire treads and detail the Rally II wheels with some dark gray metallic paint and that should be about it. BTW, some sites seem to advertise this as 1/25 but the wheelbase specs out to 1/24. That's okay, it can sit with my 1/24 '64 and '69 Judge. My Welly '65, CMW '66 and Welly '69 can sit together on the 1/25 shelf.
  3. You still have the bulged SS hood. Just call it a fake SS made from a Malibu.
  4. Just finished the Snake-Fu on that cleanly built JoHan AMX I bought at the local toy show last Sunday. It didn't need much, just a few finishing touches to take it to the next level. This is my 12th completed project of 2020--six diecasts and six rescues/restorations.
  5. First thing I noticed on it, too. You did a great job with this old kit. Model on!
  6. Ah, I see what you mean. I'll be staying with the Cutlass or 4-4-2, then.
  7. We drove an '85 or '86 four-door for several years, bought off a little old lady. It was white with blue top and blue interior. It ran okay for quite a while, but never really inspired me in any way.
  8. Agree completely. Another troublefree build that results in an accurate and beautiful model.
  9. I also have a slightly worn/played with red promo I wanna rescue soon. Will probably polish that one out, but the red is closer to Crimson Red than Omega Red, I think. I think it'll look badass with a black interior, mags, bigs n littles, and a "rubber rake." The Testors Bronze looks a bit like that Canyon Copper.
  10. Got the paint done on a '69 Firebird diecast I'm working on. Flat black primer, covered with matte clear (for protection). It looks like something Darth Vader would drive if he were a hotrodder.
  11. That would be a voodoo doll, not a kewpie doll.
  12. Don't forget to remove the chrome trim on the body sides. Of course, if you're going "Day Two," you can leave them on and declare it a Malibu someone's put SS emblems on. Lord Knows we all saw plenty of THOSE running around back in the day.
  13. I like the idea. Too bad I can't find the two Model Master metallic browns in my area anymore. Either of them would have looked good on it. I'd go with Testor One Coat Bronze, but am worried about it being too flaky/sparkly. Might use it anyway, just 'cause I have a random can of it around here somewhere.
  14. Some of the most troublefree builds that stick in my mind include the Monogram '70 GTX (now Revell '70 Road Runner) and '70 Superbird, and Monogram '70 Boss 429 Mustang. The Revell '69 Shelby goes together easily after you fix the front valence pan problem. The Revell '68 and '69 Corvette kits, and the AMT '70-'72 Vettes are also great OOB builds. In fact, I won an IPMS Regional award with the AMT '70 Vette.
  15. All 1/64 diecast. Yawn.
  16. Very nice, very clean! Looks like a new build, not a rework. Model on!
  17. Your builds get cleaner all the time. Good to see you back here again. Model on!
  18. And here they are. Much as I love polishing pristine colored plastic, I'm just not feeling it with this one (the Cutlass). What color should I paint it?
  19. True Dat. I bought this kit when it was brand new, first issued, at the LHS and both A-pillars were broken (and are to this day). But they're broken cleanly, and should be easy to fix. I doubt I'll ever build it, but sooner or later, I'll run into somebody looking for one.
  20. Yeah, that roof's pretty accurate in shape. Probably the most accurate one available at the moment, and actually one of the better parts of that whole kit.
  21. Finished up the Snake-Fu on a diecast '64 GTO that I've been working on for a week--FAR too long. (Story will be told elsewhere.)
  22. The biggest problem with the Chevelle is the fender bulges. That, and the grille is wrong. What's wrong with the '70 GTX is the body is just too deep. It looks like it's been reverse-sectioned, with an inch or two added. I have a 1/25 diecast '70 GTX that was obviously reverse-engineered from the Monogram 1/24 kit. Its body is also too deep, but at least it's 1/25 and looks better on the shelf with my other 1/25 musclecars than the Monogram, which just looks huge.
  23. I believe MCW has resin hardtops available now. A few years back, I bought an absolutely beautiful resin '64 Cutlass kit off eBay for a very reasonable price. No idea who made it but I plan to build it. Come to think of it, it was just the body, hood, front and rear chrome and taillights, but I just happen to have a chassis, engine, and interior on hand.
  24. What he said. Only thing wrong with the Revell kit is that it doesn't come with the hard top. You have to buy the gasser version to get that.
