Beautiful build of a beautiful car! Well done and model on!

Very cool! Except for the glass, which is all wretched, that's not a bad kit at all. It was sort of a "Pro Modeler" kit of its day, with full engine (motorized in some issues!), movable control surfaces, retracting landing gear, and even somewhat of a cockpit. And it's actual 1/48, unlike the Monogram, which is closer to 1/50 (probably to fit their standard box of the time). I've had one of these I've been meaning to get to for decades. I'll be watching your progress. Drive on!

Again, y'all can thank me personally for that one--I just bought a restorable glue bomb off eBay for healthy $$$.

AHA! I know what beats him! The fear of actually finishing a model! Game over! I win!

1/25 AMT Y-193 '69 Camaro Kit History & Evolution

It's my belief that the vented SS hood was turned into the cowl induction hood for the Pace Car/convertible issue, and it's been that way ever since. -

The horizontal bar is correct for '69 RS (SS has nothing to do with it), but it might have been better to mold separate chrome bezels with the strip, into which the red lenses would fit up from behind, and then the whole thing would slip into the rear panel from behind. But for whatever reason, that's not how AMT did it. -
I appreciate the kind words, but even I can't make the current issue look like anything but a backbirth turd. The two green ones shown above were built on the '80s reissue and I'm not ashamed to have them on my shelf---they're about as well as you (or at least as well as I) can build that model. But with the various Revell issues being common and cheap, there's no reason to mess with the MPC Camaro anymore--especially the current issue one.

Looks like you covered it all, except the promos. Hardtop and convertible promos were made. Does anyone know all the colors? I don't think I've ever actually seen a hardtop promo, but I recently was fortunate enough to trade into a convertible in Rally Green. -
I HOPE the winkything means you KNOW that story is completely wrong/backwards.

Very interesting! Almost as if Bowie had written and recorded this song about the time of Aladdin Sane. Still, I definitely prefer EC's original on this one.

Please don't put Hawk in the same category with Palmer. Hawk did some darn nice kits for their day--and some were state of the art. But they ran out of gas about the mid-'60s, and other makers picked up the ball and advanced the art. Some of the Hawk airplane kits are still in production, most of them are still commonly available one way or another, and many of them are still built by airplane modelers.

Would your post now include "I just love (whatever type of car your model is)s!" That was his signature move. -
Very nice! You've really captured the feel of these things. Well done and model on!

Very nice! You're making me want to dig one of these out and actually build it. Well done and model on!

Very nice model, but it's just way too big. What was somebody thinking when they picked lime green for the color? Not even close to anything available from ANY US factory in 1965. And a '65 Vette white interior would have black dashboard and carpets. Then again, with that lime green paint, you can call the whole thing a "mild custom," so why not? Might as well go all the way and put some kind of custom wheels and tires on it.

Very nice build, and captures the look of contemporary gasser "tributes." I don't recall ever seeing a '64 GTO or anything similar as a gasser back in the day. Anyone with the cash to chop up a brand-new car into a gasser would more likely have built it as an A/FX, or just moved up to a full-on dragster. Gassers were more low-budget, backyard projects that started with older, MUCH less valuable starting points. (Okay, yah, there were a few gasser Sting Rays.) All that said, though, this is still a cool model.

I don't recall ever doing anything special in that area, but then I'm not that much of an interior guy. -
I'm still waiting for mine, and now, a week later, I am Officially Irritated.
