Revell '70 Pontiac Firebird 2'n1 1/24
Snake45 replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
IIRC, it was $5 per car. Doesn't sound like much, but it added up to millions over the years to the SCCA. -
Sweet! Congrats on the AMT C2 Vettes, and the '64 Falcon and '65 Mustang. The early Nomad and Cobra boxes are also Very Most Extremely Way Hella Cool.

Mine too, but that's a beauty--thanks for saving the pics for us! I've been doing some ePay hunting myself lately. Been outsniped at the last minute a couple times, and have seen a couple big ones gallop completely out of range, but I've also scored two or three almost unbelievably good deals. Will post 'em up when they arrive.

Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone. It was a lot of fun and very rewarding to bring together the sad remains of TWO failed, seemingly doomed projects, separated by decades, and resurrect one fairly clean model out of the mess. Much more fun than nailing together any brand new kit of any kind!

I like this car a lot, but I probably won't be buying a new one--at least not at anywhere near Full Metal Retail. I built a nice white one when the kit first came out, and I recently acquired nice Welly diecasts in both white and blue and in 1/25 to boot (not 1/24). So I'm pretty much Trans Am-ed up now. -
A limerick almost writes itself, doesn't it?

Very pretty. Would be even prettier with all the "candy" stripped off it.
-
It would be fun to see how a "self-driving" car would do in a NASCAR race. And then, TWO of them. Has anyone suggested this yet?
-
Me too. John Conner, where are you?

VERY nice work! I never found what scale he's working in. First thing that caught my eye in the first pic was the exposed-headlight '68-'69 GTO. -
At the time of Cap One, I was editing a book about Hollywood stunt flying, and the author was a personal friend with the owner/pilot of the Lear Jet that "crashed" in the movie. He sent me some behind-the-scenes stills of how it was all done. Pretty cool! My author friend was also involved when magician David Copperfield made a Lear Jet "disappear" on a TV special about the same time, and told me how that was done, too. Also pretty cool!

Cool! My nephew was a crew chief on an F-15E in the early 2000s.

I wonder if it's available to rent for biker funerals? And hey, if your motorcycle needs THREE parking places, you've kinda become "unclear on the concept" of what a motorcycle should be.

The Italeri Jeep (Willy MB) is nice. I built one a while back, went together no problems, looked great when finished, what's not to love?

Me too. Not to mention the million dollars' worth of gold in the trunk (And gold was like $35 an ounce in those days--do the math.) I think I read somewhere that they actually broke the Ranchero the first time they tried to film that scene, and had to figger out another way to do it.

Channeling Dave Barry, "Crosseyed Platypus" would make a good name for a rock band .

I don't like either very hot OR very cold, but I'll say this: I've never had to shovel a foot or two of heat out of my driveway so I could get to work.
-
If they did, it wouldn't get you THAT much closer to the Bewitched Camaro you want.
-
Very cool! For an encore, you can do Goldfinger's Lincoln Continental. (Or was it Mr. Solo's? Oddjob was drving, so I guess it was Goldfinger's.)

1967 - 69 Camaro Wire Wheel Covers?
Snake45 replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've never seen those wheels in any Camaro kit, or anything else I can think of. You might have to settle for "kinda close." Possible candidates for "kinda close" might include the wire wheels in the AMT 260 Cobra, the alloy non-knockoff wheels in the Revell '67 Corvette roadster, and the wheel covers in the reissued AMT 1970 Impala and 1969 Riviera. -
The hood's not a drop-in fit, but if you want it bad enough, you could graft the central section of this hood into the AMT '68 hood. I think the R&MoM hood is for the Revell '69 kit, (unless he's also added one for the '67 kit), but it would be correct for a '68 396 Camaro as well. It is slightly too small for the AMT body, and would need to have material added to the edges. I know this because I once put the AMT '68 hood in the Revell '69 body, and I had to shave it down slightly all the way around. The engine in the AMT/ex-MPC '69 Camaro isn't very good. You can do better. I can't promise you the convertible boot in that kit will fit the AMT body, either. The ex-MPC '69 Camaro bodies are notably narrower than anybody else's. Might work, might not.

Bewitched 1968 Camaro

WHOA, Verdoro Green on a Chevy paint chart? (The chart's also missing late-year colors Rally Green, LeMans Blue, and Corvette Bronze.) -
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! Did it make you nostalgic for OJ?

Absolutely magnificent. This rare old kit sure found its way to the perfect loving home.
