  1. Research says Corvette Bronze is a legit '70 color, maybe '71 too. Not sure if this is exactly the same as the '68 color, but this is apparently what the diecast is and it looks the part. I think this one just jumped to the top of my To-Do list!
  2. Very nice! Well done and model on!
  3. Nicely done. In fact, one of the better Airfix 1/24 P-51s I've seen built. Well done and model on!
  4. Sounds like a perfect candidate for the great Bring Out Your Dead Completion Build. If you think you can get it finished by September 30, there's still time to register for Round 4. We'd love to have you on board!
  5. Good work! Drive on!
  6. Not my favorite Corvette, but I recognized its rarity/desirability, and it IS a '73, which is my favorite year of Shark. Bit of a glue bomb. The windshield's roached, and part of the rear louvers are broken. No wheels or tires, and the side exhausts (and rocker panels, if any) are gone, but the body is complete and unpainted, albeit with some glue boogers on it, as are the engine, interior, and I think interior. Would be a job to bring it back to full Daniel specs, but I'm thinking of maybe trying to bring it back my own way. Not high on my To-Do list at the moment, though.
  7. Don't have 'em ready to post yet, but you can email me at SnakeACP45 at aol dot com.
  8. And I forgot until I unloaded the car--TWO AMT Double Dragster kits, new, sealed, $25 the pair! That stupid old kit is an absolute Vintage Parts Mine!
  9. Yah, I thought it looks big. Oh well.
  10. Political. Please don't.
  11. You win Score of the Month! I'd have GLADLY paid $40 just for the Camaro and Mustang--maybe that much for either one of them! Meanwhile, at the local toy show, I got (all $5 each): *Built but restorable MPC '76 Vette Coupe *Built custom '65 Riviera (I'm gonna rebuild it as a slightly different custom with leftover parts from a new kit--might even do a Villa) *Built Mono '64 GTO I need the chassis for my Mono '66 Chevelle *Built '68 Lincoln Continental with some custom stuff installed (somebody, somewhere would like to have it) * Most of a Tom Daniel California Corvette--enough of it to work with, at any rate * Glue bomb '65 El Camino--I need the A-pillars and and cowl to restore an AMT '65 Chevelle body. Plus I got four new diecasts, but I'll tell that story down in the Diecast section. It's a Happy Day!
  12. Between the local toy show and a trip to the next town's Rite Aid, I scored FOUR new diecasts for a grand total of $45! Not bad! *Welly Porsche 356, silver (they also had one in red). *Welly '67 Mustang GT, red (it seems to be different from the Maisto I already have--it might even be true 1/25). *Welly '68 Camaro Z/28, red (again, it might be different from the yellow Maisto I already have, but even if it's the same, hey, it's RED!). *Maisto '70-'72 Corvette coupe in a metallic orangish color not far from '68 Corvette Bronze. Will have to do some research and figger out what it's supposed to be, but it looks nice. Never seen or heard of this one before. Pics as soon as I can take and process them, but prolly won't be today (got too much actual model work to do).
  13. I bought a Welly 356 today at Rite-Aid, but it's not this one. Looks like it might be a later version. Worth $10, though.
  14. Not if you're gonna do THAT to it, no.
  15. I think I have that too. Although I can't sleep in socks. Has to be bare feet covered by a sheet (or appropriate blankets).
  16. FOUR-hole mag wheels? That's a deal-breaker for me, as I don't even care that much for the "hot rod" chassis in this kit (I like the one in the common '25 a lot better). Sorry, I'm out.
  17. Very nice rebuild work! Your new engine looks MUCH better. Wouldn't it be great if Round 2 could reissue this one? Well done and model on!
  18. Okay, got it into the house and freed it from its M2 Plastic Tomb (if you've ever bought one, you know what I mean), and..... DANGER WILL ROBINSON! The finish is FLAT! MATTE! SATIN! LUSTERLESS! NO SHINE WHATSOEVER! It seems to be deliberate, not a painting fluke. It looks like they were GOING for this! Have taken pics but have not processed them yet. Will try to have them up tomorrow.
  19. Absolutely fabulous! I'm not a fan of the big wheels & tires but you know what, the rest of the model is so nice that they kinda work here. VERY well done and model on!
  20. This was almost the ONLY thing on the shelf in the diecast section, and only two of them. Figgered I'd better grab one while I could, and not take my usual week to "think about it."
  21. Walmart had em today at $19.97 so I got one. It isn't remotely close to the real race car, it's more like a street promotional or tribute-ish car. Aside from the wrong graphics, the most disappointing thing to me is that the front tires are way too narrow--more like Pro Street fronts than Trans Am fronts. The rears are a nice size. I like the Torq-Thrust wheels, and can work with them. Engine looks like a small block with headers and two fours on a cross-ram, which is pretty cool/ I'm gonna give it some first degree Snake-Fu and put it on my shelf. After a while I might remove all the tampo graphics, and it'll still be a nice LeMans Blue '69 Z/28 with Torq-Thrusts, which is cool with me. So: Well worth $20 to me, but I wouldn't have paid full retail plus shipping for it. I already have two other M2 '69 Camaros. Pictures as soon as I can sneak it into the house, past The Lovely Mrs. Snake.
  22. Not too far from where I live, yard deer are referred to as "suburban rats." They're considered vermin but no one is allowed to actually do anything about them.
  23. Yeah, Hemi Orange is a "poly" which means metallic although in this case it is VERY subtle.
  24. Not strange at all. Many of these things ran mainly match races or local "circuits" and the main "classes" were based on weight, fuel, and induction (blown or not). If this car, with its heavily altered wheelbase, ever ran NHRA, it would have probably been slotted into an Altered class.
