  1. Great score, Tom! You've got some great projects to complete there!
  2. The saws arrived very quickly but I didn't get around to opening them until two days ago, when I needed one. Was surprised to find that there was only ONE set of the things in the package instead of the THREE I ordered. Went back to UMM-USA; my invoice now says ONE sold and shipped (and billed for). Contacted them and said I ordered THREE and what happened. They got back to me quickly and said they shipped ONE as ordered and I was free to order two more anytime I wanted. Well yes I knew that but now I get to pay their shipping charge again. (Fortunately it's only $4.65--it could be a lot worse. Still....) On the positive side, the saw blade did exactly what I needed to do. I needed something to slip between the windshield and the cowl and separate the two. Both were too fragile to risk any more prying than I'd already tried, and an Xacto blade just wasn't gettin' it done. The thin saw blade solved the problem in about 20 minutes!
  3. There were lots of models that looked very much like that in the model car magazines of the '60s. Even then when I'd see those, I'd think, "What a turd." And yet here's a REAL one! Cazart!
  4. You need to meet my good friend, Mr. Silver Sharpie. MUCH easier to use than any silver brush paint, and it actually dries. And looks good! A pair of them (which will do at least a dozen cars) is less than $4 at Walmart. I've been using them for about 10 years now, and if they quit making them, I'd have to go back to model airplanes, that's how much I love them.
  5. Preach It, Brother Gary! I've been working on one on and off for years. I'd love to build a detailed replica of Sam Auxier's BOWANI II, but it looks like I'll just have one "inspired by" that car. Maybe I'll call it "BOWAN-ISH." For your Psycho Mustang, try putting it on the Fiat altered frame from the AMT Double Dragster. I think the wheelbases are similar. The real one was a rebodied Fiat altered, IIRC.
  6. I just bought an AMT '65 Mustang fastback on ebay that had been skillfully photographed to hide the fact that it had the custom pans installed front and rear, and the custom taillights, and no bumpers at either end. Fortunately I happened to be looking for one I could build as a mild custom, and I spotted just a corner of what I knew to be the custom front pan. I bought it and was absolutely delighted with it--I restored it last weekend. Another buyer might have had a nasty surprise when they opened the box.
  7. It works unless old tube glue has eaten its way deep below the surface. You can get it as shiny as you want with polish or "Future" but the internal fogging will never go away. I'm trying to wrestle one of those deals to the ground even as we speak.
  8. Indeed I do. That's why I spend a lot more time HERE these days than I do in Model Airplane World.
  9. I wasn't aware there was any OTHER reason to build models than "fun." Drive on and have fun. BTW, the Psycho Mustang is about the closest to any real car that the AMT AWB Mustang is (body-wise). Should work well.
  10. Is that "truth," or is that "facts"? It's important.
  11. Don't forget to check with your lawyer to see if there's somebody you can sue. Or better yet, have arrested, or at least fired. And alert the media! ?
  12. Mine's silver but that sounds about right. Thanks!
  13. Does anyone have any idea approximately what model year my Welly Porsche 956 is?
  14. Maybe they could reissue it as a Police Chief car with a Dunkin Donuts tie-in?
  15. Wasn't that a Mel Gibson line in Road Warrior?
  16. I've noticed that EVERY thread about the magazine eventually gets locked. The only question is how many posts it will take. (BTW, I've never posted in any thread about the magazine until now.)
  17. Duck tape is actually the correct name for the stuff. "Duct tape" is commonly used, but it's incorrect (although it IS sometimes used on ducts). Kinda like "shrunk" and "sunk" are now almost universally misused when "shrank" and "sank" would be right. Also, there's no such work as "snuck," so stop using it.
  18. Take a colorful stroll down memory lane. How many do you fondly remember? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Crayola_crayon_colors
  19. Very late '60s, or very early '70s.
  20. Dogs will complain.
  21. Now that you mention it, I have a very vague recollection that the Revell '56 Chevy I built in 1970 had a white body and interior, and black chassis and engine parts. Is that possible?
  22. Rescues! Saves! I LOVE 'em! Go for it!
  23. I think that's "Peach" or "Melon" or some other fruity-sounding name.
  24. Is the body narrowed on that Anglia, or were they really THAT narrow?
  25. This is why I don't get that wrapped up in model interiors, good or bad, an attitude I brought with me from Model Airplane World (where it was QUITE unusual). As I'd often say in those days, "What am I gonna do, get under a Shrink Ray, crawl in there, and make airplane noises?"
