That doesn't look bad at all!

Very, VERY nice! You really captured the late '60s-early '70s vibe of these things. Well done and model on!

Another vote for Future. I don't use it often, but when I need a brushable clear, it's the answer. And if you screw it up, it comes right off with either rubbing alcohol or household ammonia, and you can try again.

I saw a caravan of 6 or 8 white bucket trucks heading south on I-81 this morning. I wondered what was up with that, and then realized they are probably pre-positioning for hurricane relief.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Good! You've got just about a month left in this round, so pick something you can finish up in that time. -
Very nice, very clean! Well done and model on!

1953 Studebaker custom roadster conversion

Looks like the love child of a '53 Stude and a 356 Porsche! Well done and model on! -
Maybe it doesn't WANT to be Panther Pink. If it were me, I'd take the hint.

I'm thinking not.

How high will it go?
Snake45 replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's my estimate, too. -
The problem is that the rear of the roof is too tall/high. Fortunately there's enough "meat" in it to file and sand it lower, into a much more visually pleasing and correct shape. I've done it on two of them so far.

Very clean build! -
There's something you don't see every day! What kit and what scale is it?
-
You know I'll be following along! I've built two of these and have at least a dozen more in the Snakepit. A few years back, Tim Boyd did a great article in the Other Magazine on how to kitbash ANY '68 or '69 Vette variant using these two kits. If you don't have that, you might want to track down a copy.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Absolutely! I'll add you to the next update. BTW, I decided a while back to add one more rule to the BOYD builds, but haven't publicized it yet: You can enter a model in two consecutive rounds, but not three. If you haven't finished a BOYD project after six months, it's officially dead again. This is why I didn't re-list the Monogram '66 Chevelle I had going in Round 3. I had it painted by the end of Round 3, but wasn't sure I could get the chassis sorted out by the end of Round 4. I might put it back in for Round 5 if we have one, as I've found a chassis and now just need to put together a suitable engine. Meanwhile, I've accomplished precious little on my declared Round 4 projects. Haven't lifted a finger on the '69 Camaro. Have been working toward getting one of the C2 Vettes ready for paint; with luck and effort I can at least get primer on it Labor Day weekend. After the paint goes on, that one SHOULD progress pretty smoothly. In other words, I'm still hoping to get something done this round. -
Getting a Hobby Lobby!!!!!!
Snake45 replied to SCRWDRVR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have one within 15 minutes of me, two more within 30-40 minutes. They're good for Testor Paints, and they carry about half of the Round 2 and Revell car lines. Not a whole lot if you're an airplane or armor or ship guy. The 40% off coupon is useful if they have something you want/need. They have some tools and supplies (including now Molotow), but they don't come close to replacing a good full-service local hobby shop. Unfortunately, those are disappearing, and HL is better than no hobby shop at all. -
I know. That doesn't bother me. The fender-mounted mirrors bother me more, but not enough to not buy it if Walmart has it for $20. Cheap, easy way to get a Z-car on the shelf.

Very cool! Last one I saw was orange with a black hood, and I decided I didn't like the black hood. I'll look for this one--if it's all one color, I might be in!
