One problem with this kit is that the roof looks a little flat, and can even be "caved in" at the front, across the top of the windshield. Another kit with this notorious fault is Monogram's '66 Chevelle. I just fixed one of these yesterday by boiling some water, pouring some into a little bowl, letting it sit a couple seconds, then dunking the flat part of roof into it for about FOUR seconds and then bending it upwards with my thumbs--about twice as much as I wanted, so it could "rebound" a little and end up where I wanted it to be. It worked great, and my Chevelle body seems to be made of exactly the same black styrene as your Monogram Vette. Try to do this in one shot. Repeated heating of the plastic can result in it shrinking, warping, or becoming brittle. You might want to practice on some sprue from the same kit. Also, don't put the plastic into water that is actually boiling--that's too hot. But the water starts cooling as soon as you take it off the heat and pour it into something, and is just about perfect in only a few seconds.

Looks like you're off to a great start, but now don't you still basically have a pair of complete AMT AWB Comets? Just the other day I ran across (in the Match Race Madness book) a pic of an actual steel-bodied, flip-front altered wheelbase '67 Comet. Looks to be a brown or bronze color with gold trim. Was run by the Gustin Brothers, Roger Gustin driving. Google search only turned up one other picture but you might be able to find others: I think I'll build one of the AMT kits as something "kinda sorta" inspired by this. At least we know there was at least one.

Very, VERY nice! About the only suggestion I could offer would be to get your headlight lenses aligned. Well done and model on!

Kinda looks like something American Motors might have come up with, if they had lasted another decade or so.

What non-auto model did you get today?

Trust me, everybody's happier this way. -
Here's another update for you: There's virtually no actual history on The History Channel anymore. Although they do have some very interesting programs and I watch them a good bit.

Very clean work, especially your interior. Drive on!

That's a beauty and you did a great job of bringing it back from the dead.

I have both and can assure you the Hasegawa '66 Bonneville is NOT a repop or copy of the MPC. Very close, almost certainly "inspired by," but definitely not a copy.

That might be one of them. Others are Learning Channel and A&E. Oprah seems to have her own channel now, showing a LOT of Dr. Phil (he might be on one channel or another 24-7 now), and he can usually be counted on for lowlifes and freaks.

They're still in the car trunk. Haven't had an opportunity to sneak them into the house past The Lovely Mrs. Snake yet. But I'm sure you can see them all on your Google. -
I dunno, but it's almost always true, isn't it? I can only think of a couple exceptions.

Yup. At least that's what it says on the box.

The Lovely Mrs. Snake seems to have found several whole channels on cable that show nothing but freaks and lowlifes and idiots of every imaginable description (and many you can't even imagine).

How could I have forgotten to mention Terminator? The second one wasn't bad either but after that, meh....

Local toy show. For the first time, I made a major score on model airplanes. 1/48 Hobbycraft kits of Hawker Sea Fury, Spanish"Buchon" Bf-109, Czech Avia Bf-109, TWO Hobbycraft VNAF F8F Bearcats, and an Airfix Spitfire 22/24, all brand new and still sealed, for a grand total of $45 (average $7.50 each). Folks, it just don't get much better than that. Boo-ya! -
Local toy show today. Made a killer deal on some airplane kits; only 3 cars today--cheap glue bomb AMT '70 Challenger, new in box AMT Fruit Wagon T at a good price, and an unopened "Austin Powers issue" Revell '67 Vette roadster with figure for $15. The body in that kit is trash, but the chassis and other parts--and the figure!--are worth more than that!

I liked the second Aliens better than the first. I also enjoyed Outland, which of course is basically High Noon in space. Big fan of Firefly/Serenity, which I've always thought of as The Outlaw Josie Wales in Space.

DUST in clear coat. Help!
Snake45 replied to Ahajmano's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Either an old flannel or cotton shirt wrapped around a finger, or flannel cut to 1" strips. I get these flannel squares at Walmart, too. One will make quite a few polishing strips. As Steven said, NEVER try to polish anything on a plastic model with a Dremel. Nothing good can come of it! -

My HL had two on the shelf today. No Boss 302s today, though.
