  1. I wonder if a Corvair-powered, plastic-bodied (i.e. light) street car could really (and safely) pull a trailer with a race car on it? Oh well, it's only styrene....
  2. I like the paint. Great combination of colors and it came out beautiful!
  3. You are making me cry right now.
  4. I like that Maverick wagon. It would have worked even better as a 2-door. Too bad plastic Mavericks are now so rare, or we could build these.
  5. The grille on your TA looks better than mine. On the Wild Cherries, it's flatter looking. And from that angle, the '65 Impala looks pretty good. '67 Rally Wheels was an interesting and cool choice, too.
  6. Not really. They've been selling us German WWII airplanes for a long time now.
  7. Can't you see that's the centerpiece of his dining table? He just turned around and took the picture.
  8. It seems to have the chrome rocker trim, which would make it the '65 body, which became the '66, which became the AWB funny car which is still around. Looks like someone built or rebuilt this one sometime from the mid/late'70s on, judging from the decals from the AMT '72 Nova. Side scoops from the '68 Shelby kit, or somewhere else?
  9. The only real improvement I could suggest for the old AMT would be to go ahead and mold the vents into the front fenders to make it a common production 289 instead of an early 260. And maybe offer at least one regular up-top--soft or hard, or preferably both.
  10. Yes, I know. Everybody knows. I wasn't talking about a landing. I was talking about a takeoff from a standing start. And they had that B-25 making sounds like the Duke Boys going somewhere in a hurry.
  11. Okay, hit that Rite-Aid and found the diecast display no probs. It was pretty well stocked, but no US musclecars. Lotta foreign stuff, even a Porsche or two I had my eye on. I left with an Audi TT for my son (he has one) and a red Mercedes 300 gullwing for me, just because I'll probably never get around to buying or building a kit of one. For $9.99 each, you can hardly go wrong!
  12. I have the M2 '66 GT350 in green, and a couple other M2 '65-'66 Mustang fastbacks too. Nope, no complaints.
  13. I love how when any car speeds away, you hear squealing rubber, even if it's on a rain-slicked street, or gravel, or dirt, or grass. The absolute worst violation I've ever seen of this was in the craptastic movie Pearl Harbor. When the B-25 cuts loose on the practice short-field takeoff, you hear squealing rubber. From what? Airplane wheels aren't driven!
  14. Well, it's a non-RS, which is a rarity these days. The original AMT '70 annual came with molded-in vinyl top, so it's not that, unless the OB carefully sanded it off, which is of course a possibility. I'd have to do some research to tell you which of the early 2nd Gen AMTs and/or MPCs were non-RSs. All I can tell you for certain is that it's at least semi-rare and desirable.
  15. I can relate to a lot of The Goldbergs, too, even though it's at least a decade behind me. Now I'm Jay on Modern Family. I have a younger, hot Latina wife (Gloria), who brought a son to the marriage (Manny), who grew up to be gay (Mitch), and our daughter is a loud, bossy blonde (Claire). Our son doesn't have a direct counterpart, but he has the brains and romanticism of Manny and the goofiness and offbeat humor of Luke and Phil.
  16. That's the '65 Impala I've seen. Yep, that roof's funky. The C-pillars are too thin and might have just a bit too much "fastback" to them. Real shame, because the rest of it looks quite nice. I have that '70 GSX, in yellow. I like it a LOT, even though it's slightly undersized. But it sits on the shelf just fine next to my plastic '69-'72 Chevelles and '68-'72 GTOs.
  17. Who made that '57 Chevy? I just worked my Snake-Fu on a '57 210 hardtop by Castline, which seems to be an offshoot or sub-brand of M2, and I was pretty impressed with it. (Hope to have photos/review of it up in a few days.)
  18. I'm thinking of doing that, or something very much like it, on my next one. I think it will be easier, better looking and more accurate to widen the body than to narrow the bumper. But who knows, by the time I get to it, I could decide to go the other way.
  19. My folks were more like the parents on The Wonder Years. Right down to the mom's permed hairstyle. Dad had a little Major Nelson (Larry Hagman on I Dream of Jeannie) in him, too.
  20. That's a good price. Grab 'em both. If you don't want one, maybe I can make you a swap offer of some sort on it.
  21. After reading this thread, I checked and there's a Rite Aid not far from me. I'll be checking it out today, I hope. (The local gas station mini-mart used to have diecasts and I bought quite a few of them there, but they haven't had them in at least two or three years.) I've seen a '65 Impala diecast a couple times at the local toy show, but never bought one. It seems slightly undersized, like the Riv, which isn't a deal-breaker for me, but the roof didn't look right, which most definitely is. But I'm gonna take a good look at the next one I come across and see if I can either fix it or live with it. Accuracy of shape overall is my #1 priority with these cheap diecasts. I've passed on cars I'd really like to own because of this, and bought others that didn't interest me that much but I saw that they just looked right. Meanwhile, I was checking out Welly stuff online the other night and saw they have a '68 Olds 4-4-2 that doesn't look bad at all. Thinking of ordering one. Anyone have one--good or bad? It should look nice next to my '70 GSX.
  22. I have a couple copies of this kit but have never built one. I just spent some time looking at built examples here in Under Glass, and yes there's something definitely not right about the shape of the side windows, or the sheetmetal contours around them, or something, but I haven't compared it with "real" pics so can't tell exactly what the problem is. I'm gonna Snake-slap my prepainted green one together out of the box, and then maybe on down the road I'll take the time and effort to fix the body on a plain one. (Don't hold your breath waiting, anyone.)
  23. Last night on Fear the Walking Dead they reprised Madison's saying, "Nobody's gone until they're gone." My personal Modeler's Variation of this is: No kit really exists until it's in my hands.
  24. Beautiful! I didn't realize Missing Link made this. You're making me want to build one (my highest compliment). Well done and model on!
  25. Isn't there a whole thread here on kits that were "officially" announced and then never released?
