My favorite of all of them is the '56 210 2DS, but I like ALL the '55-57 two door sedans, two door wagons, sedan deliveries, Nomads, and '57 2 door hardtops (the '55 and '56 hardtops don't do anything for me, nor do any convertibles). Of the ones in the original post, my fave would be the 2LB '55. Gonna do a model of that sometime soon.

I've heard a number of cops say the same thing. But it's a sitcom, not either a "police procedural" or a "crime drama."

keep stopping at the end of my builds
Snake45 replied to youpey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can relate. In the last 6 months or so, I've hauled out and dragged across the finish line at least three models I started and got over 75% done more than 25 years ago. The work I did then isn't always up to the work I'm doing now, but I decided not to use that as an excuse to NEVER get them done. They're not perfect, but they're in the FINISHED column and I'm driving on. -
+1 to what everyone else said. Stick around. Don't let "them" win.

It looks neutral to me. If you want a "cool" gray, check out Model Master 16473 Aircraft Gray, or the Light or Dark Ghost Grays. WWII German 74 and 75 grays also lean toward the cool side of things.

I never found one. I did buy three copies of the roadster kit, which could turn out to have been a very good move. Or not.

Welcome Dan and Mike! Please be kind to us.

I have one of those, in that very box, I bought in 1971 or 1972, several years before I ever saw or heard of the LS kits. But yes I believe it is the very same kit inside. AHM was a BIG importer of hobby stuff in the '60s; it's likely they were the first importer of these kits. If I'm not mistaken, AHM was the importer of the Austrian ROCO HO Minitanks (I had dozens of them) and UPC and Fujimi Japanese model airplanes (I had a few of those, too).

Attaching resin parts without super glue?
Snake45 replied to pharoah's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The "clear" liquid cements are solvents that don't work on resin. Your only permanent cementing options are superglue or epoxy. If it's an "add-on" or "bolt on" part of some kind, you might use a good white glue such as Tacky Glue. If it ever comes off you can just glue it back on again. But that's definitely not for anything structural or permanent. -
I just finished one of these last month so can give you some advice. This kit has the tightest tolerances of any model I've ever built. Some of the parts will snap into place with a little effort but others will require trimming their holes and/or mounting pegs. And I did mine unpainted; yours might be even worse with paint on it. The windows were the worst. They're designed to snap in and fit flush but it took me three evenings to finally hit the right combination to finagle them in. Be sure to paint the bottom edge of the side windows black or it will "fiber optic" a white line along the lower edge of the window. I didn't do this but I sure ain't taking that thing out again to do it--I was lucky to get it in ONCE. BTW, last week at Hobby Lobby I bought a Maisto diecast "kit" of a 2016 or 2017 Camaro with a nice smooth metallic gray paint job a little darker than yours. I'm looking forward to building it and putting it on the shelf next to my AMT and Revell 2016 and 2013 Camaros.

White decals going yellow fix??
Snake45 replied to TeamBear's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've bleached many decals just by putting them on the dashboard or package tray of my car. Prolly not the BEST idea due to possible excessive heat, but I HAVE done it and got away with it. -
White decals going yellow fix??
Snake45 replied to TeamBear's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've found it's not a bad idea to treat such decals with a coat of Micro Superfilm after bleaching, too. If they're old enough to turn yellow, it's very possible they'll crack or dissolve when you go to use them. -
Several years ago I went for a family vacation at the beach, and took about a half-dozen 1/72 model airplanes in their boxes, and the tools and paints I figgered I'd need in a cigar box or something. The trick was, I just built the cockpits, and glued the fuselage and wings halves together, and worked down all the seams. The fuselages and wings all went right back in their flat, slim boxes until I got home, when I could assemble them into real airplane shapes. It all worked out pretty well IIRC.

Embarrassment happens...
Snake45 replied to DanR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, you saw it...it's just that that visit was about five years longer ago than you remember it. (It was about the same time I saw AMT '55 Nomad kits at Walmart.) Don't ask me how I know this. -

Snake45 replied to DanR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You need to seek out a hole-in-the-wall model railroad shop, they might have some Floquil left...of course it will be in colors you could never ever use (all the good stuff is long gone).... -
Let's not forget that RLE was responsible for bringing the term "jackwagon" into widespread use, via his GEICO (IIRC) commercial. (And probably some other words too that I can't mention here.) Put on heading two-seven-zero, Eagle Thrust.... (Let's see who gets that one....)

I'd think either here or the T&T forum would work. BTW, I now have TWO full model tackleboxes--a big one I bought at Walmart, and a smaller one ($1 at a yard sale) that "just" has my most commonly used two or three dozen colors of paint in it. And now I have a cardboard box, which originally held some Pandora stuff for The Lovely Mrs. Snake's Christmas present, that I use for my VERY MOSTEST IMPORTANTEST DOUBLE-SECRET VITAL tools, glues, and elixers. I remind myself of the old George Carlin bit about A Place for My Stuff: "Supply lines are getting longer, and harder to maintain...."

I guess the closest thing to this thread's subject that I watch would be The Blacklist. Lucifer doesn't really count. Lucifer is just Castle if Castle were The Devil. Since every episode is written to the same formula, you can figger out "whodunit" in the first twelve minutes, so it's only worth watching for the eye-candy, which is abundant. And Lucifer's cool black '62 Corvette.

White decals going yellow fix??
Snake45 replied to TeamBear's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yup. It doesn't work EVERY time, but I've found it works MOST of the time. Definitely worth a try. -
Ewetwo, it looks like you've got an early Toronado in there. It would be worth the effort to get that one together--I know several here are looking for one of those. Looks like an original '66 or '67 Riviera, too, that would be nice to see back together again.

Come on.... TWD can do better than that.
Snake45 replied to Scott Colmer's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Never happen. The ladies LOVE Daryl for some unknown reason. When he goes, half the viewership goes with him. Negan has his female fans, too, which is probably why he'll still be around in some diminished capacity. -
That one looks like something Batman would drive to Mardi Gras!

Boys in Company C came out a good 18 months before Apocalypse Now. I distinctly remember seeing BiCC on HBO long before AN hit the theaters. Of course, I guess RLE could have filmed his part in AN long before it came out, making the sentence accurate if misleading. Whatever. He was a great guy who dominated the screen no matter what his role. How many remember that he played House's father on TV?
