  1. I'd post it in All the Rest and then see if the Mods move it to Diecast.
  2. Here's a pair of the Revell snappers, all-stock solid red and metallic red-orange with big wheels from the snapper '57 Chevy. Both are polished plastic, no paint (except details and trim).
  3. Very nice! Looks at least as good as the much newer kit, IMHO.
  4. Very nice, very clean build!
  5. This is what plastic spoon tests are for. I don't foresee any problems, as Krylon is fairly hot and most enamels shouldn't bother it, but Plastic Spoons Are Cheap.
  6. Okay, I have a have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too idea. Paint the top pearl white, and finish it off in the primer, with aftermarket wheels and tires and a badass rake. Put it on your shelf. Go on and build the '66, all the while enjoying the primer '67 on the shelf. When you get the blue-gray '66 finished, come back to this one and paint it in your original planned color. Win! Win! Win! As Letterman used to say (before he went completely insane), "There is no OFF position on the Genius Switch."
  7. All that series of ARII (ex-Otaki) WWII fighters is pretty good. Some have a few easily corrected flaws, but overall, they're simple and good-looking builds. To this day, their Hellcat just might be the best 1/48 Hellcat available. If it's not, it can certainly be built to sit on the same shelf with whatever IS "the best."
  8. Having built several of each, I can tell you that the Revell Snapper has a much more accurate body shape than the AMT. But it's curbside. If you want a full-detail one, you'll have to do some kitbashing (after you cut out the hood).

Looking pretty good. This could end up being my second favorite build of yours. Are those wheels Cragars now?
  10. I believe Revell's Thames is considered a sedan delivery. Would the old, much coveted MPC '33 Chevy panel be considered a SD? The original annual AMT '67 Corvette roadster kit included a phantom SD top.
  11. SPOILER ALERT! Okay, I buy the dragons. I buy flying dragons. I buy flying fire-breathing dragons. I buy Ice Zombies. I buy the Ice Zombie polar bear. I'll even buy John Snow crawling out of a frozen lake and NOT freezing to death of hypothermia within minutes. But can SOMEBODY tell me this: Where did the Ice Zombies come up with about four miles of heavy-ass chain?????
  12. Thanks for not painting the interior silver. Most of the funnies of this era didn't have nice aluminum panel interiors. They typically had the factory upholstery panels pulled off the stock sheetmetal, and whatever was underneath was what they ran with. If someone was feeling particularly "fancy" they might hit it all with some black or speckled paint. But very little aluminum in those days.
  13. The trick with 1G Camaro Z/28 stripes is to paint the cowl vent portion white or black* as needed. Don't even waste time trying to decal them. Then you can use decals for the rest of the striping. *And, of course, orange for '69 Pace Cars.
  14. That dark gray primer looks great! I say finish it up just like that!
  15. It's about time! But wait a minute....aren't they cousins, or something? (Not that THAT little detail would stop anybody in GOT-world.)
  16. +1 to all that. Not bad looking at all, my friend!
  17. Very nice! You succeeded in capturing the look and feel of these things better than many American modelers. Drive on!
  18. The advantage is that you can buy more than one of them at a time, if you want. And still use your coupon for something still at Full Metal Retail.
  19. Yah, I noticed that about the ride height too, but it doesn't bother me as much as it does you. Maybe someday I'll have a fit of industry and lower it a bit, but in the meantime, it looks fine on my 1/25 diecast shelf. Also looks pretty good sitting with my 1/25 '69-72 Chevelles, 4-4-2s, and GTOs. The Buick slot would be empty if not for the Welly.
  20. I rather liked their '70s GSX. Only hack I have with it is it's just a TINY bit undersized, like around 1/26 or 1/26.5 scale. Still, it looks better on my 1/25 shelf than the Monogram does (which looks like it might be slightly OVER scale).
  21. Great review, RJ, thanks for posting it! As the only built Challenger in my collection is a SubLime Johnny Lightning in 1/24, I'll have to be on the lookout for one of these. Now I just need to decide if I want orange or blue. Looks like something that would respond well to a little Snake-Fu (which you seem to be a master of, BTW).
  22. When you get your putty sanded to final shape, hit it with a nice wet coat of superglue. Let that soak in and then dry. Give it 24 hours. Then sand again, and prime. You lines will be gone. Or you could just fill your crack with superglue or superglue gel (Loctite brand is the best) to start with. That will never shrink or ghost.
  23. I don't like those wheels either. They look like they belong on a Conestoga wagon rolling across the plains. Or a stagecoach. And what's up with the beigewall tires?
  24. Here's one: When John Snow put together his rag-tag band of outlaws, renegades, misfits, mavericks, and general badasses, did you count them? And didn't they look magnificent?
  25. Nope, your answer's still here. BOTH threads are now here in the Questions section. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/125507-what-are-these/
