  1. I knew this was true of '66s, but just ran a google-image check to see if it applied to '65s, too, and it does: The Mustang fastbacks, whether GT or "base" 2+2, did not have the fake vent trim at the rear of side coves. (That was a pain to sand out of the coupe donor body when I built mine.) Also: The GTs didn't have the chrome rocker trim, but the base cars did. I left them on my conversion just to be different (and as a non-GT), as the original '66 annual fastback was definitely a GT and didn't have them. Just thought you'd want to know. Nice resin body, BTW.
  2. Well, I got mine today, a 1mm, with coupon. Haven't tried it yet.
  3. The delay on this site last night and today are nearly intolerable. Running at less than dial-up speed on two different browsers. Maddening.
  4. Yup. What he said.
  5. What, no one's gonna post the "Well, bye!" meme? I always liked him, too, especially in Red Dawn and Southern Comfort. He did an HBO movie where he played a degenerate gambler that was pretty good, too. Remember The Governor on Walking Dead? I always thought that actor got the role because Powers Boothe must have been unavailable.
  6. Check out hardware or home improvement stores for water-based clear gloss polyurethane. You might have to experiment to find one that works for you, but if you do, it'll cost FAR less than typical hobby products--a small can might last you the rest of your life.
  7. Some years ago I came across some prepainted Barbie figurines that seem to be 1/24-1/25. I've got two or three of them, but I don't remember where or how I got them. Every once in a while I try to google and see when they were made and if they're still available, but so far no joy.
  8. Great idea, and fabulous work! Drive on!
  9. JoHan Comets are more common than Mavericks these days. Maybe you can find a cheap Comet for an organ donor?
  10. Fabulous work! You are going to be a Glue Bomb Savior!
  11. Here's where I made my cuts. The blue is the leftover top from the donor reissue coupe, the white trash underneath is the original '66 FB annual roof donor.
  12. That's almost how I did mine. I measured and cut very carefully, and almost no putty/filler was needed. What was used was mainly in matching the contours at the front edge of the roof.
  13. If you need some inspiration, here's one I did a few years back using the top and interior of a VERY roached glue bomb '66 GT 2+2 and a reissued hardtop.
  14. Sounds like you have a plan. Drive on!
  15. I'm wondering if the crackle stuff will have a 3D texture that will need to be block-sanded if you're using it for a final finish. Just something else to consider.
  16. I posted that on Saturday. What part of Saturday are you having trouble with?
  17. I still have two or three Fireball 500s I bought at Walmart just for the trailers. I've always thought that car had an ugly nose. Recently I was going through a bag of random parts I'd bought and found a stock '65 Valiant grille/headlights/bumper. I'm gonna nail it on a F500 body and build it like a factory showcar.
  18. Very nice! Nicely understated and not overdone, as so many armor models are. Well done!
  19. Very cool! Great finish on the Missile!
  20. Very, very nice, Geno! You got all of that one!
  21. Absolutely fabulous! I'll be watching this one! Do you have any particular plans for the leftover donor body? I have a Trumpeter '63 convertible that I'd like to build as a hardtop. and I could make excellent use of your organ donor. Let me know what you'd need in trade for it.
  22. I don't think there were any "famous" '66 Impala drag cars, but I can assure you that hundreds, maybe thousands, of them were dragged in the junior Stock and possibly Modified Production classes. Nothing wrong with building one that way!
  23. Did the '65 Impala have this same problem? I assume they use the same chassis.
  24. It's actually a light olive or avocado-ish green, with darker, more "emerald green" trim and highlights. I considered giving the whole thing a squirt of semigloss black, but decided to just leave it alone, at least for now.
  25. Very nice, very clean, very good concept! This is one of those models that I'd be proud to have built myself. Well done and model on!
