Ferrari photo etch ID game
Twokidsnosleep replied to Twokidsnosleep's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ditto my friend, ditto But we have to be careful when we buy stuff on e bay. It is a poorly done set with no instructions and some areas of mine are under etched and others etched away. In fairness, he offered to give my money back but I will make use of the PE for other things. I think I can use the brake rotors for sure, maybe -
Ya, I looked at all that paraphernalia and have been researching re-spoking plastic wheels with wire Looks like a lot of fun....like a root canal Actually my root canals ARE lots of fun, once we get them out of pain One of the reasons I didn't dive right into that first Alfa was to delay and build skill first Didn't want to stuff up a rare, expensive kit right off the bat

The dude's name is Cobra man, he collects everything cobra Your name is Cato, you were Clouseau's side kick in the Pink Panther Movies and now are rich and famous and drive and build Rolls Royces Had I known........ That is a very shiny looking beast, I think we need some more photos of the whole thing!!!

Oh god no, hack that sucker up You have already made it better looking than the original There was a guy that had one of these Excalibers in the town where I grew up. He was a knob and I think that is why I have such a bad vibe with these cars, even though I like cars for the 30's with those long fenders and external exhausts. Just go to it! And buy a Pocher engine I referenced in the other thread and keep me company building

Oh absolutely a good intro I have not completed a full on Pocher myself, just busy buying kits like an idiot and tearing apart old ones. The "classic" Pochers have a reputation as complex with lots of little bits and parts and questionable fit in some. But there is a ton of info, help, aftermarket parts and instruction cd's if you got some money to spend. This is a simpler kit, all plastic and taken right off the F40 Exotic Pocher line. It is a really good model, not stupid expensive other than rarity. A really good intro into this scale and exactly why I started it There are two nice 1/8 Testarossa engines on E Bay right now........ http://www.ebay.ca/itm/201314195797?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.ca/itm/261823596244?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Ok, waddya think of this I want to do metal (aluminium) exhaust tips as the plastic ones are cheesy even drilled out...the plastic chips as I try to flare out the ends So I thought of this arrangement in a bit of a delta pattern Any opinions?? Can you tell it is a gross rainy day here and I have a hundred things I am supposed to be doing

I have been battling the PE to see what I can use...posted a thread on it for help So my build has stalled too a bit No worries though, no pressure

I think #27 might be the front of the alternator...I see similar in my Pocher kit I just started Step 15 has a subassembly where a very similar front is added to the alternator...I suspect the wings bend backwards on the PE #27...that is the alternator, no? -
It goes together like a jigsaw puzzle, so let's do a little dry fitting and work out problems Transmission dry fit compared with 1/16 Fujimi engine for scale comparison Not so bad, 1 screw and others snapped together but can still be removed. Not sure if I will glue this or not in the end. Started the beginnings of an engine stand...brass tubing sleeves The bell housing and engine block are much looser fitting and I find the cylinder heads kinda cheesy multi-piece bits compared to say the Pocher Alfa Romeo's gorgeous block and head. She is up on her 'feet' in a dry fitting. Looks a little sloppy in spots, but going to have some fun with this kit for sure. I might need to put some money into aftermarket stuff though..we shall see my friends, we shall see.

Funny part of the instructions is this little dude who flashes the tools needed by opening his coat "Don't look Ethel!" From the Ray Stevens Streak song....one of my favorites So the instructions start at #10. I kinda freaked and though I was missing pages and started looking for PDF's of the kit..nothing. I contacted Paul Koo and he sent me a copy of the whole instruction booklet...yep, they just cut out the part for engine assembly and put it in this kit. BTW Mr Koo is a super cool, helpful and awesome guy Here are parts in the box. I have put stuff in plastic bags and little jewel boxes for screws. This is nothing like a Classic Pocher with thousands of screws and metal parts..but still it is big! This is a full on floppy rubber sprue and a blue moulded one for the oil filter

Ok here is something different. A bit of an oddball kit, kinda rare so I thought I would share it with y'all. I got this off EBay as it came up and I am building the Fujimi 1/16 F40 and I have a semi-built Pocher F40 enroute...so what the heck The kit is pretty simple, ALL plastic with some screws. I can see why a few transkits are offered, but they are rare and expensive. Full metal block kit is $500CAD!!! The Exotic Pochers have a reputation that does not live up to the Classic Pocher heritage, much more toy like. Instruction shots

Cool! I like both sets of wheels The Excaliber kit has not been one of my favorite cars, always seemed pieced together to me with a style of a slimey rich guy trying too hard. Something Rodney Dangerfield would pull into the golf club driveway with horns and music blaring. Funny that the rat rod versions you showed and are building look waaaaay better Gonna follow this build for sure

Good stuff guys I agree I counted some 8vs 12 cylinders bits too Judges are still conferring on Fat Brian's answers I feel like Alex Trabec here -
Did you know a 1/8 engine is a lot bigger than a 1/16???? I am absolutely not building the Pocher F40 engine, I am just ensuring that the parts are there and they fit. Fun part is they go together like a jigsaw puzzle without cement, so I can pull it apart easily. Have kinda stalled on the Fujimi F 40.... Just dicking around with exhaust stains. I should have Alclad my exhaust pipes this afternoon, but I had a nap instead

Hey, who wants to play "Let's Help Scott figure out where the heck any of this stupid photo etch goes so he doesn't go any crazier than he already is??? For your entertainment, I have four photos of the aforementioned devil PE It is supposed to be for a Ferari F40 and Testarossa in 1/16 scale. No maker, no instructions, only ID is #20276...which I googled and can't find squat other than the seller. I think it is Testarossa only due to the obvious cylinder heads. There are 33 numbered mystery PE parts drawn from the sprue. I left a couple obvious ones out and left a few easy ones in to get us moving. So without further delay here are the pics Original E Bay pic that suckered me in Black background White background Our game board So 33 blanks to fill in I will start with an example #17 air vents for dashboard #24 dash panel......... Crazy Ed The game is afoot

I am thinking of getting one of these It is a kit that you assemble http://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Kits/Tool_Chest_Kit/Gerstner_Tool_Chest_Kit.html -
Gheese I like what you have done with the rear seat It looks really good there with those little round details added and the wood base. Nice! You look to be working this out very well in planning, so I am sure your top crop will go well All the best

Yes gentlemen I will do both

I have this version, unbuilt also influenced by Mr Skip Jordan purchased after Christmas I can photo and send the instructions If you need them I had a bit of trouble but thought the hood went down ok, but I usually pose it with one side open because it is cooler to show the engine
