Ah, Raleigh and Belair cigarettes. Both included the coupons. Belairs ar still produced by R.J. Reynolds. Every candy store when I was growing up had the penny candies on top of, and the Lifesavers display under the counter tops. Speaking of the candy aisle, get yer retro candy at Old Time Candy. I do. Remember these? Jet Spray fountain machines. Used to see them in the larger candy stores, ice cream parlors and greasy spoon coffee shops with the Hamilton Beach blenders next to them. Alphanumeric telephone exchanges were used in NYC until the mid '70s. They corresponded with specific neighborhoods in the city. Our exchange was EVergreen 3. You always knew where somebody lived by the exchange. Steve, around these here parts, that hairstyle was called a "D.A.", short for "duck's a**". All of the greasers had D.A.'s. Oldtimers in some neighborhoods around here still sport it as a reminder of their glory days

Really? I'm 58 and I know what it is. Butch wax is a hair control wax, like a pomade. When you went to the barber to get a "flat top" cut, the barber would apply butch wax to your hair. It gave your haircut that perfect aircraft carrier landing deck look.

So don't. Nothing worse than hacking up a perfectly good body for a small detail. Make fiberglass copies. It's super easy, takes very little time and it saves a kit body. Look, if an idiot like me can do it, you'll have no problems. A lot of guys "ooh and aah" about how innovative this is; yet, nobody attempts to take the explanation and demonstration to the next level, which is practical application. You can use Bondo Fiberglass Resin and .60-.75 oz. fiberglass cloth which can be gotten online for cheap. Together, the resin and cloth cost less than the kit.

Fantatsic Treasure found on Ebay

Hey, art is in the eye of the beholder. Similarly, one man's garbage can contents are another's cash cow on ebay. -
Some of us can't remember what we had for lunch yesterday. This little quiz will measure your "older than dirtness". Post your scores.

Impressive list of credentials, Carl. Remember this at Camp King? Re oil change, AutoZone only charges $19.99 including a new oil filter. -

Hmmmm.........have you ever built, let alone designed, anything other than a model? There are a boatload of guys on this board who would not hesitate blowing their own horn if they possessed even 5% of Bill's knowledge, experience and abilities. There are, in fact, a bunch who do. Zei gezunt to them. It's their prerogative to do so. Bill doesn't brag or pat himself on the back. He knows what he's talking about and simply states the facts based on years of hands-on experience, not as asides from armchair Exner or DeLorean wannabes. If anyone else knows as much about automotive engineering and design, just rebut whatever you disagree with using sound, factual information to state your case. When you get into impugning somebody's bona fides as nothing more than egotistical braggadocio............well, Chief, you already lost the argument. As the old saying goes, "If you got it, flaunt it." If you don't, pay attention. You might learn something. -

He's got the market all to himself. He wouldn't divulge his sources. Somebody might decide that he wants to get in on the action and put a crimp in his business. -

Congrats, Samuel! I see your line is now carried by SpotModel: Splash Paints -
Looking good, Jeff. Re the tire fit, take some tissue, soak it in diluted white glue and stuff inside the tires. When that dries, the tire sidewalls will be stiffer and prevent them from popping off the wheels. I did that with the kit supplied Michelins in the M1070. It improved the fit and was good enough until I got a set of resin tires and wheels.

If you mean 14000 Venezuelan Bolivars, that would be 13,999 too many. -
Is that Canyon Copper Firemist Metallic? Chateau Mauve Firemist wasn't available for '78 MY.

Andy Warhol once told me, "You can put a coffee cup on a pedestal, call it "art" and people will kill each other for the privilege of owning it." -
Meat stromboli at Slices & Ices on Beach 116th Street in Rockaway Beach. Spent the day hanging out on the boardwalk with Junior. Beautiful day except not many hot bikini babes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69RPEh2tADk

The same way a Hasegawa Volkswagen Beetle kit is listed as a1/24 1/25 AMTJohanMongramRevellScatPackBoys. You cover all bases without hitting the ball out of the batter's box. -
Close; but, no cigar. The Valiant Scamp wasn't the same as a Valiant. I had a '72 and it was the same as the '71 MY below. '71 Valiant Scamp

Looks too much like a pro-built model. I don't think ringers are allowed to be entered. -
Lay off the coffee, man. What's with the typed yelling? You essentially answered your own question. If there was no tooling, there wouldn't be any kit.
-
AMT wouldn't "86" those kits because of a strike. It was`settled and production resumed. Management probably decided those kits wouldn't be big sellers.

Drag-racing as cool as it used-to-was.

I used to go to Lenny's on Old Country Road in Carle Place. Remember Swensen's in Huntington? They had that huge model train running along the wall.
