Where can I buy undamaged new kits
SfanGoch replied to louie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In my case, it was delivered by UPS. The deskman in my building called me as soon as the UPS deliveries were left in the lobby. He didn't think I'd like what the package looked like. Understatement of the year. BTW, this occurred three years ago. I posted about it in a thread about repairing the damage to the Desoto. -
Cutting styrene tubing

Get yourself a K & S Engineering #296 tube cutter. It'll cut styrene, copper, brass, and aluminum tubing. -
Where can I buy undamaged new kits

Fred Sterns always properly packs the items he sends to customers. This was sent via UPS, not USPS. You probably can't see it in the photo; but, the box itself was waterlogged, which was why it looked the way it did. It was bouncing around in the UPS system for ten days before I finally received it. Ten days to get from Buffalo to Brooklyn and UPS didn't know where in the system it was at any time until it arrived at its service center in Queens and was on the delivery truck. -
Where can I buy undamaged new kits
SfanGoch replied to louie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Fred stopped using UPS because of numerous complaints about the packages being delivered completely smashed, including the kits. This is what UPS delivered to me: It looked like it was used as a soccer ball at the terminal. Both kits were severely damaged and were missing numerous parts which fell out of the holes in the shipping box. -
My then 20 year old nephew's first car was a 1963 Biscayne. I borrowed it once to pick up some parts for my '86 Taurus Robo-Copmobile. On the way back from the Ford dealership, the engine temp was off the gauge. Luckily, there was a gas station on the next block. I took off the radiator cap and there was no steam coming out of the radiator. It was bone dry. I had to fill it with four gallons of antifreeze and water. I then decided to check the oil. There wasn't any. When I got back home, I told him about what happened. His paraphrased response was, "You're supposed to put stuff in the radiator and engine?"

And works just as well on models.

removeing acylic paint
SfanGoch replied to Madd Trucker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Why not? Use Testors ELO to remove any and all types of paints. No lengthy soaking of parts required. -

That question can also be asked of you since it seems you are assuming that peteski is. Age doesn't bestow or infer possessing knowledge superior to others. It only means that you've been around a bit longer. No more, no less. -
No website. There is a FB page you can order from.

Novus products would work, too.

You can use toothpaste to polish the clear plastic in a pinch if you don't have other polishing products on hand. It might take a bit longer; but, it works.

It wouldn't matter if the film was trimmed. The decal itself is printed on the same film, is glossy and would be just as noticeable on a semigloss painted surface. Roger has it right.

It's the sheets.

Five 7" x 11" sheets for about nine bucks sounds like a bargain considering the relatively high prices of AMMO products in general. I'm wary as to the quality when compared to BMF. Looking at images of the sheets, they seem to have a pebbly finish whereas BMF is smooth. No reviews yet because it's a new product.

How to Apply Super Thin CA Glue?

Yeah, only you won't have to shell out a sawbuck for what is essentially a sewing needle with the top of the eye trimmed off. -
How to Apply Super Thin CA Glue?
SfanGoch replied to afx's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You can trim the top of a large sewing needle, leaving a prong, to make a CA glue applicator. Use a lighter to burn off and clean any accumulated CA. -
Other members who made similar comments about leaving the board have been informed by mods that it's their choice if they no longer feel like participating in the board. There's no need to make a public proclamation of your intentions. Just stop participating. Otherwise, it looks like grandstanding because there is no actual intention to bid adieu. Your statement is just a way to solicit sympathetic "please stay" comments because you're not serious about going through with it. If you were, you wouldn't still be posting here. Also, why are you dragging the topic, and the apparent grudge against peteski, into other unrelated threads? It shouldn't have been discussed any further than within the original thread.

Mature......right. Anything stronger than "darn" freaks people out.
