  1. I hate stores that move. It makes it difficult to enter and exit the joint. There were two stationery stores in the neighborhood which sold model kits when I was a kid. There was Ted's Stationery (closed in 1974), which had a great selection of kits. I bought my first Johan Turbine Car there for a buck and change. The other was Jam's Stationery, which recently closed. That was my go-to place to buy MAD paperbacks. The model section was located in the rear of the store and, like Ted's, always had a large selection. I bought plenty of Aurora models plus Hawk and early Hasegawa aircraft kits. The guy who was store manager looked like David McCallum's character in the Outer Limits episode "The Sixth Finger" if he wore Clark Kent specs.
  2. It's just a matter of time before their parents will evict them from their respective basements. The gray suit and 1970s-era Telly Savalas-style giant knot necktie that the toilet brush-headed loser on the right is wearing looks like what you'd receive upon release from the Mattewan State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
  3. Both nice pickups, Rich. Those Cutlasses are going for some big bucks on ebay lately. I saw a couple unbuilt '69 AMX Super Stock kits for ± 60 bucks. Got this from BNA Model World. Ordered on Feb. 27th and it arrived yesterday. Some stuff I ordered on Feb. 25th from Michigan is still "in transit to the destination". ? Them Borranis sure look swell. Now, to find decent replacement tires. Those Dunlop tractor tires included in the Protar/RoG kits suck big time.
  4. Interesting, Definitely food for thought.
  5. The problem with those hair bands is the rubber in the center. As it ages, the rubber/elastic deteriorates (read melts), becoming a sticky mess. I had to deal with that situation after using them for hoses in the engine compartment of a 1/16 King Tiger. The c-rap is almost impossible to remove.
  6. I'll second that. Very interesting with numerous applications possible.
  7. Funny that you should bring up the Moon. "Mad Mike", according to unreliable sources, was planning a fact-finding lunar mission to find Alice Kramden.
  8. Bob didn't know that Gabe was a member of the New Utrecht High School (Class of '63) track and field team.
  9. Yeah, Steve, I know that. At least I'll have extra rims and stuff for other builds.
  10. Pretty straightforward explanation you gave, Rich. Sometimes, you gotta edumacate the unwashed masses.
  11. For good or bad, it's about the death of a notable person. "Notable" has nothing to do with one's character, just that a person was in the public eye. Sonny Franzese certainly was.
  12. No need to apologize. We did too. ? That's what short attention spans will do. How do you treat short attention span? Invite it for lunch and pick up the tab.
  13. I gotta tell you, Rich, I've been rolling hot dice. Every one I missed out on during the last couple of months has popped up again at the right time.
  14. Partially built, all of the other necessary parts in the box.
  15. Perfect tutorial, Steve. Explanation, demonstration and practical application.
  16. MCW has a different owner now; so, the "him" to whom you are referring isn't the same "him" you dealt with in the past.
  17. Getting close, Tom. TBH, my stash is nowhere near as large as some folks'. I have an extra walk-in closet in one room with plenty of space to store hobby-related stuff I just missed the Rambler trifecta. Somebody snagged a '65 and a couple of Ambassadors out of me flippers as I was adding them to the shopping cart.
  18. As was mentioned in another site, he is the unanimous choice for the 2020 Darwin Award.
  19. Legendary New York mobster John “Sonny” Franzese, the former underboss of the Colombo crime family, has died at 103, according to TMZ. He was an old Greenpoint, Brooklyn goombah from Union Avenue. Arrivederci, Sonny.
  20. AMT 1967 Corvair Monza AMT 1966 Buick Skylark Johan 1964 Rambler Johan 1966 Rambler
