  1. just type car movie in to you tube, loads of old 50's ones to pick from
  2. Fujimi do a couple of set of bosuku parts for converting kits is thats your thing
  3. Was it this guy (I watched it with the sound off so cant say if its safe for work or not) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHuJGhe4oGw
  4. The cadillac in the background would make for a different pro touring build
  5. You might find the chrome pens and paint at a grafitti store, I believe that's what they were made for originally, I got mine from one in the UK and they had a lot of different size tips for them (I need to get some 1/2mm to touch up the exhaust, lol) They dont hold up too well to handling but I've been told future doesn't mar the shine but I havent picked any up yet
  6. I think it's because on the forums like this we are all sharing one goal, which is to make our next model better than the last one, and to share and learn tips. It doesn't matter if you have a bank balance that reads like a phone number or not, because on the forums all we see are the builds. In real life most people are out for themselves and for that I blame lowest common denominator reality tv where it all something for nothing/selfishness/instant gratification and if you try that on the forums you get nailed for it. In a way we're all socialists when it comes to models
  7. I've been getting pretty good results with the molotowe chrome marker pens, only the carbs and valve covers are kit chrome on this engine, all the rest is done with chrome the pens, and the chassis and suspension all with the pens
  8. I like that phaeton, will have to file it for the future build ideas. Thanks for that
  9. yes, possibly the decals are different,
  10. You could try here - http://www.ema-models.co.uk/index.php/catalogsearch/result/?q=resin -I've only used them for plastic and tools but they have resin dyes and stuff too
  11. Yeah, I emailed them the other day about incomplete kits for the spares box, and they said there is another big collection about to be posted soon. And it's only spending too much if you aren't going to use it, at least thats what I keep telling myself, lol
  12. That's pretty cool, I like the lighter blue on the wheels, nearly sure there's one similar to yours in the classic rallying at the moment. I did this to the revell release (was my first build when I started again) I would like to make one of the releases this year into a 4 door so I can build my old one, but I would like to see the zackspeed version released the most
  13. Looking forward to the escort, it'll save me cutting up my esci releases and go well behind the transit
  14. Every Revell 90's impala ss I've had, has the rear bumper and wing top trim for a 57 chevy on the chrome tree
  15. I was pleased to get the johan olds starfire for 25 quid. I'd love to get to one of the shows they go to but they're all too far away for me. I like that a lot of the kits they have are not very common so I'll be buying again. I got a couple of plymouth cop cars from them last month for 35 each which didn't seem too bad for unusual kits (at least on this side of the pond)
  16. yup, I was happy to find them and the prices aren't too bad either
  17. I think we may be using the same shop GeeBee,. You beat me to the desoto if it is, lol. I had these arrive today
  18. the amt 50 ford convert or revell 48 ford (custom version) might be a good place to start, the tops dont look too far away shape wise
  19. I've used some of the hobby design engine parts (turbos, filters, intercoolers) and wheels and found them to be pretty good. I haven't used any c1 parts to compare them to though
  20. 89% for me, I guessed some of the makes though but got all the years correct
  21. Nice car, I prefer the blue pick up though, not sure why just something about it speaks to me
  22. Looks beautiful Geoff, is it the fujimi kit?
  23. I put the parts in a zip lock baggie and spray with mr muscle oven cleaner (I think its called easy off in the US) and give it a rinse and wash about 10 mins later and it comes off. It's not very nice on the lungs though, but the baggie keeps the fumes down until you open it and allows you to see if its cleaned off.
  24. I come here because I like model cars. The inspiration from here and other sites I use to challenge myself to improve and I dont have the option to find any of this local to me (I live on an island in scotland and "models are for kids/toys/pointless" is the attitude I get when I talk to my friends(delete as appropriate)) If it wasn't for the forums I would probably have given up by now. I have to say though, I have made some good friends from the forums which probably is the most important part of the hobby to me and the models are now just a bonus
