  1. I've got the heller 4cv kit in my stash. Its tiny yet the box is huge
  2. Cool car, black would have been boring in my opinion. Being another colour suits it
  3. Cool, this made me smile. Looks cool and like it was fun to get the ideas down in plastic
  4. Thanks folks
  5. Cool build, nostalgia rocks
  6. The dark blob on the roof is rain. I had to rush my pics, lol
  7. Just finished my first kit in ten years or more. Feel free to comment and I will have more written up about this later this week.
  8. First WIP pics will be up tommorow!!
  9. Thats a really smart looking VW there. Well done on the work you've done. Its turned out really well
  10. Thankyou, I'm sure you had similar cars to this in Oz
  11. I think from what your saying that when i attempt my first resin that I would try one of the thicker ones since it would maybe be a little more forgiving for a first one. I still think I'll stick to plastic for now though until I get a little less rusty. Thanks again for all yout repliesV They have been very helpful
  12. Thankyou folks, I think I will leave resin just now. I will need a lot more practice before I can risk attempting them. I appreciate your taking the time to answer me and send mucho thanks from Scotland.
  13. If you need space on your shelf I would give it a good home! 3 days too? Beautiful car
  14. Hi folks, just a little question that is probably stupid but while i have heard of resin many times, and there are many kits in it I would like, I don't know the difference between styrene and resin. The question is how are they different to work with? Would i need new tools or glues/paints? Thankyou for your time
  15. You can tell him from me that i really look forward to more of his builds. I think more people should build with a ten year olds view, makes the ideas so much more pure and original. Would love to see his take on a rat rod style build too
  16. Looking good,
  17. I had a problem with Plasti Kote primer not drying on just the blue plastic from the Revell escort rs1800 kit. my first lot just wouldn't dry so i sanded it back and used a new tin(bought that day) and the same happened. I ended up getting a tin of Holts acrylic clear plastic primer followed by Holts acrylic filler primer and it worked fine. Might be worth a try before it drives you mad. I plan to use the plastic primer first every time now and stick to Holts for all my bodies.
  18. Wow just wow, a brilliant build of a great car. I would love a street one of these in 1/1
  19. Your builds look really good. I like how you have them aged the same as yours and not perfect resto's. To me they have more character than the over restored ones, since each dent and rust spot tells a story about the car and owner. Nothing against perfect nut and bolt restos, just not for me, but custom stuffs cool.
  20. I will do, the VW's just have something about them. I had a 71 Bay window myself but the thing just ate engines. Went through 3 in a year and i ended up getting rid of it. It was a left hand drive canadian import(I'm in the UK) and even though it was such a pain, I still miss it. I see it about occasionally and the new owner has done an amazing restoration. Some day I'll find that elusive Bay Kit at a reasonable price.
  21. Yeah I'm pretty bad at hoarding VW kits. I like most styles of kit but VW's are the cars my dad had when i was growing up so i have loads of VW mags and pics. I'm looking forward to the Revell Germany mk1 Golf kits coming out so I can build an 80's version of the same dealership. I look forward to seeing your models, is there a build thread? Thankyou for your reply, my shopping list would seem to be never ending when it comes to kits. My next build isn't a VW though, its a big mash up of spares and old built kits that have fallen apart, and now I've almost finished my current build I'm getting excited about it. It will have a build thread from the start and may be a bit unusual with its mixed scales and styles but thats the beauty of models i suppose.
  22. Looking forward to seeing this finished. Custom stuff is always cool.
  23. Looks like a fun project. I can remember Custom Car magazine(UK) building a similar car in the early 70's out of a 46! bug. Well i say remember but i mean i have the magazine cos i wasn't born then. I look forward to seeing this completed cos I love custom VW's. Looks like your off to a good start with it
  24. Just wondering if the Revell Beetle will fit on the Tamiya 66 chassis. I'm pretty financially embarassed so buying both kits to find out isn't an option. I have a vague idea to build a VW Showroom diorama in the future and since there are so many 60's VW kits out there now i thought it may be time to start collecting. I already have the Revell Split Screen Camper and a Hasegawa pick up is on back order. Also was it Hasegawa who did the Split Crew Cab pick up? I intend to get a few Tamiya beetles as i think the engine is about the best version i have seen. I built both Tamiya beetle and Karmann Ghia more than 10 years ago and feel its about time i built them again and this diorama seems like the perfect setting for them.
  25. Nice, I like the pro touring look. Can't wait for the next one
