Colour Tinting Two Part Resin
stitchdup replied to Anglia105E's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You could try here - http://www.ema-models.co.uk/index.php/catalogsearch/result/?q=resin -I've only used them for plastic and tools but they have resin dyes and stuff too -
Yeah, I emailed them the other day about incomplete kits for the spares box, and they said there is another big collection about to be posted soon. And it's only spending too much if you aren't going to use it, at least thats what I keep telling myself, lol

That's pretty cool, I like the lighter blue on the wheels, nearly sure there's one similar to yours in the classic rallying at the moment. I did this to the revell release (was my first build when I started again) I would like to make one of the releases this year into a 4 door so I can build my old one, but I would like to see the zackspeed version released the most

Looking forward to the escort, it'll save me cutting up my esci releases and go well behind the transit

Modelling Oddities/Mistakes
stitchdup replied to NY Modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Every Revell 90's impala ss I've had, has the rear bumper and wing top trim for a 57 chevy on the chrome tree -
I was pleased to get the johan olds starfire for 25 quid. I'd love to get to one of the shows they go to but they're all too far away for me. I like that a lot of the kits they have are not very common so I'll be buying again. I got a couple of plymouth cop cars from them last month for 35 each which didn't seem too bad for unusual kits (at least on this side of the pond)

C1 models or Hobby Design
stitchdup replied to matthijsgrit's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've used some of the hobby design engine parts (turbos, filters, intercoolers) and wheels and found them to be pretty good. I haven't used any c1 parts to compare them to though -

89% for me, I guessed some of the makes though but got all the years correct -
Looks beautiful Geoff, is it the fujimi kit?

Removing Chrome from Italeri
stitchdup replied to Warren D's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I put the parts in a zip lock baggie and spray with mr muscle oven cleaner (I think its called easy off in the US) and give it a rinse and wash about 10 mins later and it comes off. It's not very nice on the lungs though, but the baggie keeps the fumes down until you open it and allows you to see if its cleaned off. -
I come here because I like model cars. The inspiration from here and other sites I use to challenge myself to improve and I dont have the option to find any of this local to me (I live on an island in scotland and "models are for kids/toys/pointless" is the attitude I get when I talk to my friends(delete as appropriate)) If it wasn't for the forums I would probably have given up by now. I have to say though, I have made some good friends from the forums which probably is the most important part of the hobby to me and the models are now just a bonus

Dune Buggy Aftermarket Engine Kits?
stitchdup replied to BDSchindler's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The revell gypsy kit has some empi parts that could be used on a dune buggy such as the exhaust and carbs, and I think it has a corvair engine option (been a while since I looked at mine) the tyres are horrid 2 part things though and the tamiya beetle has a really nice chassis and engine but it's 1/24. There was some resin empi wheels on ebay early last year but I havent seen them in a while. If you want a later vw engine the 1/25 camper/magnum pi bus has a type 4 engine but you will need to scratch up some heads and get the carbs from some other kit as most of it is hidden in the bus so they didn't do the whole engine. If you're after an earlier engine the hasagawa kubelwagen has a nice engine and sand tyres that would maybe work but it's not very common and pricey when you find one. -
I had a tamiya ford mustang which the tyres seem to have dried out and split around the edges, and also the imax caddy I just built the tyres seemed to be covered in a mould, I washed it off in dish soap and dried them and within a day they were mouldy again. Bit annoying cos I wanted to use them on the rear of a hot rod

Divided by a common tongue
stitchdup replied to DonW's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well just to confuse things a little more, what you guys in the US call french fries (and are actually Belgian) are chips this side of the pond, but your chips we call crisps which I'm led to believe is what you call salad greens -
