Mercedes Outlaws & Hot Rods
stitchdup replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
the maybach was taken from a wrecking yard after a fire destroyed it. i think it was lexani wheels that took it to sema. even with all te high end builds, the maybach was the most featured in coverage that year. even the daily news on this side of the pond showed it so it worked out well for them edit, it was forgiatto wheels, just noticed the sticker, lol- 130 replies

Wide Body Tires and wheels ??
stitchdup replied to Ralphie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
those are hre wheels in probably 19 or 20 inch diameter. they are available as 3d files and i think the files by blackbox have tyre options. if you are using the tamiya kit for your base the sizes should work but if your using the amt kit you might need an inch or 2 smaller. -
Wide Body Tires and wheels ??
stitchdup replied to Ralphie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
you could try some sleeves over the stock wheels to make them deep dish which would give you a bigger wheel and if you use sleeves from a 3 piece wheelset you'll get tyres to fit with the set. some of the 3d places have options for the tyres too. -
it kinda amuses me that uber even exists after all the stranger danger warnings we got as children such as dont meet strangers from the internet and dont get in strange cars

Wide Body Tires and wheels ??
stitchdup replied to Ralphie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
it depends what style you want to end up with. do you want a modern liberty walk type build or a classic race car type. aoshima do staggered sets in plastic, but 3d gives you more options, and more still if you have access to a printer as you can do them near any size and width. theres plenty modern options on ebay or stores like hiroboy, and for a more varied and race selection theres spot model. for muscle cars theres iceman collections or texas3d off the top of my head but a look through the aftermarket section on here will give you more places -
Build-A-Bimmer Werkshop..... All things Bavarian.
stitchdup replied to JollySipper's topic in Community Builds
they are printed but were purchased from ebay before i got my printers. the tyres are aoshima from one of their wheel sets. the stance is stock from the nunu kit as it was a racecar originally -

ICM Model A and Monogram As build comparison
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in WIP: Model Cars
i feel like this should be a 1/12 kit. some of it would make more sense then -
you could have a lot of options depending on how far you want to go. it could be tools as letters or you could go more mini truck style and have the lettering appear engraved or stamped. i like bills idea though, but i'd use it on the trim rather than as a graphic and luckily its available on nail art foil rolls. its a little thicker than bmf and needs burnished down more and cleared, and the only way i've found it is by buying the assorted packs of 50 from china but they're really cheap

oh wow, thats very kind of you sir. I'll send you a pm

for modern car kits with the glass going in from the outside i.ve started using electronic repair tape. its the same stuff they use for replacement screens. its black and comes in 50m rolls of 1mm wide for about 30 bucks

just a paint that dries to look like slime. i think its a ammo product
-
depending on the situation i use a variety of techniques. this tractor was done with powdered rust over still sticky enamels (i put it in a poly bag and give it a shake) this chevy was done with a flat black enamel base then various browns, coppers and earthen tones were dry brushed on this truck was mostly experimenting with some new products i got. its over done but it taught me plenty. i used mostly mig and ammo products on this over a patchy paintjob. mostly acrylics but the slime is enamels the ghia is just red primer with a light gold sprayed thin enough to barely cover. i was trying for that polished through look this bus is mostly brushed with wargaming paints then i used tamiya weathering pencils and their eye shadow type stuff. the wargaming paints are great for unusual metal tones too this one i messed up but i think i can use the slime to make it work out

for decals and pe you could use a photo album -
maybe an old chuck from a drill would work to hold the engines. i expect it would hold the trans allowing you to put the chuck in a vice or something to hold it. if you wrap the trans in tape it should prevent damage
