  1. i used tamiya under hok but i put a barrier of automotive clear between them. i also let each layer sit for a week so it was an 8 week process but its worth it for hok
  2. mine was a similar looking but chunkier wheel. something looks a bit off with the whole wheel/gauges area. its almost like its been pulled back and up
  3. flickr is a decent source. theres groups for most brands
  4. older euro trucks mostly https://public.fotki.com/boballoa/
  5. the last era of decent cars from peugeot was when these were around. the 1.6 was fun but the 1.9 had a somewhat predictable habit of spinning 180 on tight corners if you booted it at the right time. they were unbeatable in stock autotests for a while until the focus rs arrived. i had 2 of these when i worked in the bodyshop but one was a 4 door diesel that always felt like it was in the wrong gear. it would be cool to build a modernised version so i'll get at least 1
  6. since its red and revell you'll need to do a mettalic silver or gold layer between the primer and colour coats. the revell red and orange leeches a lot of colour through the paint and the silver stops it
  7. I've made a start on the aero. I opened up the vents on the running boards and they now exit at the rear. i'll be tieing this into the diffuser and fenders but i need to do the other side before then. now your probably wondering where the motors will go as there aint much provision for them but they will be mounted to each wheel with a lexus type semi independant trailing arm suspension mounted to the red centre diffuser in a f1 style. so this doesn't have a chassis as such. i've got a lot more to do on the aero bits. i also cut dwn the firstr motor i made and made up 2 more so this has 4 motors now. i also found a set of bigger tyres for the rear.
  8. that front bumper would go great on a pro touring build if you wanted to keep the chrome. just imagine it on the back of a 70 chevelle
  9. After a short pause while my nieces were home I've got back to this. My last post i talked about curving a spare grille but after doing it, well it looked naff and only suceeded in wrecking 2 grilles, so i needed another plan. the result of which involved a new mini front end and a bug hood for an approximation of a indy car if it didn't need a grille and had lights instead. i think i can hide their mini origins with some detail painting. its only in the early stages but the shape is starting to come together. the outside of the body has a 2mm wedge chop using the bottom edge of the rear glass for the rear corner and the front top corner for the front. this saved cutting the roof (for now) and brought the pillars close enough to be fixed with a file later. then i chopped only the centre of the roof another 4mm. i added a split spoiler to the roof but think i might have another idea forming for it, so we'll see if it lasts. next up is finishing up the front end, suspension and chassis/aero....stay tuned, its about to get wilder....lol
  10. the movie car was built on an old land rover fire truck and sorta coincidentally the car from league of extroerdinary gentlemen was built on a range rover.
  11. if its any help, the pre painted kits are usually much cheaper second hand
  12. from looking at pics of the transkit, the door panels are replacements for the stock parts. lloks like a cool build, good luck
  13. there was a feature on this car yesterday on speedhunters.com
  14. there are kits for this very swap, but aimed at the euro mk1 and 2 escorts. personally i'd go for the 2.3 block block and source the rest from a sierra twin cam. you now have a basic injected pinto with around 145-165 bhp and a very solid engine to tune. if you feel like getting flashy, the cosworth engine is just a twin cam turbo pinto. also the engine blocks you want have a 205 or 215 stamped on them. these are the good blocks cosworth used, the other codes tend to pop over 350 bhp.
  15. but i suspect it a later fibrefab avenger. there was a few different rear ends over the years
  16. very close to the brazillian vw puma
  17. went to the local record shop today and helped with their model stuff order again. most of the last stuff i asked for was sold before i even saw it so their happy for me to help out. i put more primers, paints and other accoutrements and their going to be getting nunu now too so i ordered another 2001 e46. since i was in the shop i bought a tamiya alpine intending to use it as a donor for one of my dauphines but its too nice for that so i'll build it like a cal bug. it was half the price folk on ebay want for them
  18. it looks too wide to be a prefect but it could be a pilot
  19. I was very wrong, i was looking at communist cars
  20. do i see a little kev rooney styling in your consul?
  21. the wheels like that were used for rolling/packing down ground. at least local to where i am one farmer would have a set of these that were shared and mostly used when laying down tempory tracks such as those used for moving heavier machinery. most of the time they would be pulling 3 roller sets. these wheels mean there were no gaps
  22. I guess its an (j)oh(n) dear now
  23. this was at sema a couple years back. v8 swapped and rwd
