  1. there was one just on trains, it might have been toy stories but i'm sure it was a series on model trains
  2. theres a tv showthat features some famous model railroaders. its called the joy of trains with pete waterman. rod stewarts layout was featured and one of the guys from the who. james may was also featured but he also did a series on railroads. theres a third series too but i cant remember much about it apart from it was teams doing layouts in competition. it was a good watch. you might find some of these on bbc iplayer or britbox. these are all within the last 5 or 6 years
  3. say words without thinking and you might offend someone so its best to think about it and offend everyone
  4. have you seen the old british tv series called prisoner? i think this letter is the plot line, lol
  5. if you have a part number i can probably find you a casing, but i'm in scotland. i do have access to my friend that passed a couple years ago workshop. he did starter and alternator repairs and theres a shipping container packed with very late 60s-00s alternator and starters for euro and jap engines and marine diesels. if you cant find one close to home it could be an option. my sister inheritted it all and i convinced her to not dump any of it. i can even supply earlier dynamo casings. most of it is nos parts too.
  6. now and then i enjoy chocolate and pickled onions as a snack
  7. i let my mind wander and it hasn't come back
  8. the half top was in later issues. originally it was a full chopped carson top. heres th contents of th first issue
  9. i would use one of the usual hinges and just glue some small blocks to the door. they just wouldn't have the strength to open more than once if done in scale and would be difficult to keep square. if they aren't square they'll just bind up and tear out of the body
  10. you could do a two tone instead of the stripes. it might suit the car better and there seems to be a fe options
  11. you could try the double sided tape they use to fit new phone screens. you can get it down to 0.5mm wide in clear and black. Its not cheap (around $20 for a 10 metre roll) but its plenty strong. one of my friends uses it to hold the headlights on his rc hotrod and he beats on that thing hard.
  12. You would probably be better using the clear pearl. The only time i used the white pearl i found it took a lot of paint to get it to cover grey primer and until it was covered it looked blotchy rather than even
  13. saw a dodge demon with the wide arches running around today and a mk4 golf with a vr5 (we didn't get the vr5), and a new shape caddy van in lamborghini orange wrap on bags and rotiforms. also a couple of italian registered 70s merc(ede)s with vintage caravan behind them
  14. I got stuck behind what we call a static caravan on the road between wick and thurso in caithness in the scottish highlands. Normally it would have been an easy overtake but the caravan was swaying from side to side a lot so i didn't want to take the chance. When it eventually pulled in i found it was being towed by a mk3 ford fiesta and the rear wheels of the car were off the ground. The scariest part was the dutch registration plates
  15. these all seem a little large, how about a few smaller ones? I've seen one on a reliant robin too but i cant find the pic
  16. i think thats the first tractor i've seen with hubcaps still on. on this side of the pond we just didn't use them abd if they were fitted the farm cats and dogs got a new feed bowl.
  17. the ral code for fendt green is 6160. any paint shop can mix this as its a base colour. the manufacturers will give it their own code and name but the ral code is consistent between manufacturers
  18. a designer on cults called cosplayitemsrock has multiple pulling truck versions. everything from a school bus to a tractor with loads of variations
  19. sorry about the poor pic but its near the bottom of a stack and not easy to get at. the thing is available as a 3d print
  20. have a look on kingkit Pat. They're probably your best bet i the uk as they stock used kits too. the salvage section is good for parts kits too
  21. I like the icm kits but they do have some very minor flaws. I'm currently working on the opel sedan and I've found some parts are too delicate. for example theres a piece of trim for the body that is near impossible to remove in one piece. it has a connection at each end thats bigger than the part along with an ejection blob in the centre. the part is a piece of body trim and even using a very fine tooth pe saw it just takes it to bite once and the part is destroyed. and the instructions are a bit hazy in places where they really need to be clearer (the cowl fit for example). None of its enough to put me off their kits though and with this being a model a the flaws of the opel shouldn't appear on this due to the way the body fits the fenders (note, most of my build problems have been due to me assembling the body too early). I think we might get a model aa from icm next in probably civilian and first responder versions as it would tie in with the model ts they did.
  22. influencable and gullible mean the same thing in modern times
  23. you could try archiatectural suppliers. they use larger sheets when they build their models but it may not be plastruct or evergreen,
  24. well, that was unexpected. i thought the hok pagen gold pearl over black would give me brown but instead its given me an almost green gold but once the clear and foil is done it should look ok.
