Fun '80s plastic toy cars
stitchdup replied to Brian Austin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Growing up one of my friends had a large plastic ford transit mk1 van. I think it was around 1/12 scale but could have been bigger and i was always jealous that he had it. I've searched ebay looking for one just for the nostalgia value but never found another. It had the diesel transit front and was white plastic with a red a team stripe but that might have been added by my friend as he loved that show -
What about Nissan Hardbody pickups?
stitchdup replied to chryslerjunkandstuff's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
you could possibly use the bed from the aoshima datsun 720, or graft the front from this on it. the datsun is a very basic kit though -

Shane McGowan from the pogues passed away after illness today. Like many of his fans I was hoping he would cheat death again but sadly the years had taken their toll. I'm sure we'll be hearing fairytale of new york much more this christmas

is it near an air conditioner? the dust they spit out is enough to set off a smoke detector. we had one on the boat that kept going off and it turned out to be dust from the airconditioner unti blowing on the sensor. Moved it 3 ft and it worked fine -
Is there any paint that will match
stitchdup replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Look for the colours RAL code. The RAL number will be the same for the plastic and paint as its the colour code used for mixing paints. They use the same numbers for plastic colours. Its not the manufacturer number you need, that is just for the car manufacturer colours. for example the RAL code for vantablack is #010100 and for base black it is #9005. -
Finding the center of these hubs

Draw an equilateral triangle on the circle with each point touching the circle. now measure half one side, and mark on all 3 sides. draw a line at 90 degrees to the triangle wall from this point on all 3 sides, towards the centre on each line and the point the lines meet will be the centre -

I just cant get interested in strange evidence but the last 3 i enjoy. I like the josh gates show too, something about his excitment makes what could be kinda dull interesting. Its almost like an excited toddler tasting chocolate ofr the first time but fun to watch. after humans was a good watch too -
I think I need to cut the roof and make it easier to work on the interior. I'll probably do a split front screen too so I'll do it before i cut the roof. I may make it a removable hardtop as the interior ties in with the running board detail and it will allow me to add another detail I think will work to tie it all together. I have some guide headlights i rescaled in the printer so I think I'm going to use one as the gauge cluster, which will blend the centre console to the dash nicely and tie in with the front lights. I'm tempted to try opening the doors for the first time too but we'll see how i feel when i get to that stage

I'm going to see a different sort of 3d printer sometime soon. Its a wax printer for making jewellery molds but I think it could have a use for making smaller aluminium parts. Aluminium melts at a lower temprature than silver so the possiblility is there. Its really down to the finish when it the cast parts come out as to whether it would be viable. and the cost obviously because it might be prohibative since its not a precious metal. It'll be interesting to seeeither way

You could drop it down by removing the height you want from the middle pillar, then use a template of the drip rail edge to find the front and rear pillar cuts. the front and middle pillar i would cut close to the top but the rear i would cut below the top curve of the rear screen. You have a choice of how to proceed from here. If you wanted to lean the front pillars back you might get away with not cutting the roof, but if you want the pillars at the current angle you would need to quarter the roof and add some filler pieces to the gaps. Leaning the pillars front and rear would avoid quartering the roof but would possibly make the citroen look more like a belly tank racer than a car if you take too much out. If you go with the quartering the roof method you might be able to cut down the kit glass but the other would need new glass.

i can imagine all the british folk reading about biscuits wondering why your putting cookies in your roasts? When I worked as a chef we had some americans staying at the hotel that wanted biscuits and gravy. they were not happy with bisto and hobnobs.
