  1. My opinion? WOW! And I thought I was a decent model builder. Well, back in the day anyway.
  2. Nice build. I don't think I've ever built a Fujimi kit. How'd it go ?
  3. Very cool. Nice job!
  4. Yeah, I never would have seen that until I did this! It's amazing at all the hidden details in some of these quality die casts.
  5. I've got a few more on my site: http://www.shamblesmodels.com/wrecked.html
  6. I'd be interested in knowing which of the decal sheets you designed and printed. I'm back into it and could probably use a few pointers. Here's the ones I did today:
  7. Decided to go full tilt on this one. Tonight, I completely disassembled the cab so I can strip it and repaint a different color. Taking one of these apart really makes one appreciate the detail that goes into high quality die cast models.

  9. Exactly! I went to Darlington several times in the 90s but, by then, they weren't doing the Darlington Stripe anymore. The new "stock" cars couldn't handle it.
  10. Hi Jeff. You must have way more patience than me. The last resin model I tried was a '58 Chevy Sedan Delivery. It only came with the body and hood so I bought a couple of kits for the other parts but could never get them to work right. After many hours of working, I gave up, weathered it, and hauled it off to the Shambles Performance Salvage lot.

Impressive build, Jim. Citrus Springs ain't far from me... I'm in The Villages. Does your model club have a website?
  12. Very nice. You're getting really good. Great photos too.
  13. What issues? Looks perfect to me.

    Old build

Did this one long ago, but kept it when I sold off my collection in 2017.
  15. Yeah, I know what you mean.
  16. Always been partial to '57s. Back in the late 90s, I did a 57 Sedan Delivery resto-mod. Never quite finished it but it was a fun, 6 year project that my friends helped me with. My intention (other than having fun) was to letter it up for my business and take a tax write off. Somehow, that never worked out like I'd hoped.
  17. Very nice build. I tried that one a few years ago, but wasn't happy with my results. I just can't detail 'em like I used to.
  18. Really nice build. Much better than mine, which crashed a few years ago and went off to Shambles Performance Salvage yard.
  19. Nice, Tim. When did you build that one?
  20. I built one of these back in the 90s. I think it was a Monogram kit and they were my favorites. This one was molded in blue so I just clear coated it.
  21. Looking good so far. Any more progress? I've got a couple of classic Nascar projects going and have spent several hours googling the different ones for the builds I'm doing that were not kits.
  22. Impressive. I've tried a couple of resin kits but didn't have much luck. I built a Johan '68 Caddy years ago. Was this the one you used for the donor?
  23. Dang! That's some VERY impressive work!
  24. I've never done a pre-decorated kit and I saw this one on Model Roundup's site. A little expensive at 50 bucks, but I'm not disappointed. The quality of the kit is pretty good, and the decorated parts remind me of what I could do 30 years ago when I had good eyesight and no arthiritis in my fingers. So far, the only painting I've done was making the dash gauge faces green. Not having to do much or any painting really speeds up the build. The instructions showed decals for some parts but they were not in the box. I did some searching but had no luck so I contacted Model Roundup to see if they could help. They replied and said that kit was issued 15 years ago and may have included the instructions from a similar, non-predecorated kit. They were just small decals for the dash, hoses, etc. so not a big deal. Got a little more done today and just sort of seeing how everything fits before gluing anymore.
