I remember seeing your post in another thread with models in the ceiling. That looks absolutely awesome. Actually measured the spacing of my floor joists after seeing it. I could probably make it work, but the spacing is pretty wide. Might have to revisit that one again.?

After about eight years of not airbrushing, I’m finally getting ready to get back into it. I’m basically set up now, but I’m still in the process of reorganizing the basement. Probably have about another week to go of that. When I stepped away from airbrushing, I was using testors square bottle and MM paint, all of which were enamel. Many of the top brands you hear about now weren’t around yet. And if they did exist, I wasn’t in the know about them. Now there are so many options! So what I want to know is: 1- What’s your favorite type of paint? Lacquer, enamel, or acrylic? 2- What is your favorite brand? 3- And finally, why? Looking forward to getting your input and really looking forward to firing up the compressor!

Same here. I've had my eye out for one for years. Never really expected to find one. Funny enough but me too. My first thought was "please don't be priced stupid high". My second thought was of Carl. I'm in no rush to build it. I just want to enjoy it as it is for a while. I will probably crack the seal, since the box is rough anyway. Then once I'm tired of looking at the box, this bad boy is getting built!

Nothing too exciting. I supervise a metrology lab at a major supplier of the automotive industry. I’ve been in metrology since around ‘94.

Here’s a question for those of you with large stashes: How do you organize/sort them? I’m in the process of restructuring my basement storage and adding a bunch of shelving, about 2/3 of which will end up being for models. Up until now, they’ve been kept in shipping boxes with very little in the way of organization. Cars mixed with planes, etc… It’s been a real pain trying to find anything, but there hasn’t really been a better alternative until now. I’m leaning toward sorting by car manufacturer (all Fords together, Chevys together…), then by kit manufacturer. So AMT kits together, etc, basically so the boxes will be the same size. But before I start the process of sorting, I want to hear how you guys do it and maybe it will spark a better idea for me.

Picked these up today. I was pretty excited to find the river rat kit still sealed. I built that one as a kid. Too bad the box is rough.

I never have created a back story for any of my builds. But I do enjoy reading it when others do make one up. I'm a sucker for a good story teller.

My basement was really getting out of hand, so we got some shelving. This is phase one of two I think. After tax time, I order another set of four. About half of them are reserved for my stash, which is currently in boxes. I plan to set it all up like many others have done, so I can actually see what I’ve got. Really looking forward to having my own private hobby shop!?
