  1. I think so too, Steve. I'm not going to put a lot of time into the rest of the body until I see how the roof looks afterwards. It's a bit of a bummer too, because I was pretty happy with how the side scripts and front emblem turned out.
  2. Perfect.?. The wheels and stance, the paint…. I’m really digging this one.
  3. My next project is the Revell ‘71 Plymouth GTX. This is being built for a group build on another site. Never done a GB before and now I’m signed up for two! Hope I’m not getting in over my head here, but it’ll be fun regardless. As some of you know, I spent last summer trying to up my painting skills. This was the last kit I shot before the weather turned. Color coats went on beautifully. They were allowed to cure for a couple of weeks. Then, clear coats were going really good too. But it was getting late in the evening and I was losing daylight, and the next day’s forecast was not good. This would be my last shot to get it done until next spring. You can see where this is going I’m sure. I went too heavy with the final coat. It was looking really good too, but in the morning the results were pretty bad orange peel on the roof and trunk lid. Haven’t touched it for a couple of months now, so I’m going to try to wet sand it out, and hopefully it didn’t affect the color coats. But if so, no big deal. We’ll be stripping it off and starting again. Wish me luck.
  4. Got the Chevelle washed and ready for clean up this morning. That may be as far as I get until Thursday. Next few days will be busy. Tomorrow we’re taking my daughter to the airport. Back to school. I miss her already and she isn’t even gone yet.
  5. I love the look of this one. Very aggressive! This would be a cool one to build a second version of with your current skills.
  6. I hope you do decide to join in, Carl. Looking forward to having you be a part of the fun.
  7. Yup. Good call. I'm doing the exactly same thing on an unrelated build.
  8. Man, your paint jobs are slick!?
  9. Nice job!?. That paint looks super smooth.
  10. Awesome stuff! Looks like you had a good year.?
  11. All three are really cool. Great job! Something about that vette really grabs my attention.?
  12. Holy smoke, that’s really cool. Great weathering too.?
  13. Another quick update. Got the engine nearly complete. All that’s left is to mount the exhaust and touch up the paint, then it’ll be ready to go in. Also, the dashboard was installed this morning. Still need to reattach the support tubes that broke off. This has been the most difficult and frustrating part of the entire kit. I just want this step to be over with. Honestly, it’s exactly the kind of thing that in years past would have seen me shelving the whole project. But I’ll push through and get this little bug across the line.
  14. That looks terrific! Really nice work.
  15. Made a little progress on the “interior” today. I also almost destroyed the front roll bar. While fiddling with it, it broke into three pieces. The assembly is very weak and fiddly anyway, so it didn’t take much to mangle it. I pinned the main support bar to get it back together. I’ll probably just use ca to re-attach the front support bars when I install the whole unit. Here’s a shot of the progress so far.
  16. Funny you should mention that ‘67 Impala. I almost picked that kit for this. And thanks for the suggestion of the efi setup. Pretty sure I have the ‘70 Chevelle. I was hoping to do something like that anyway. That’s perfect.?
  17. I’m in. I’ve never done a group build before, so I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve signed up for another one on a different site also, so hopefully I’m not getting in over my head. But I’ll have eleven months to figure that out. My pick- If you’re going on a cross country road trip, what better car than the family station wagon? Lots of space to stretch out, maybe even take a nap in the back, room for spare parts, etc. But my dad was a hot rodder, so the old family truckster might have a few tricks up its sleeve. I’m going with the Revell ‘66 Chevelle Station Wagon kit. I don’t have all the details ironed out yet, but it’ll most likely be getting some aftermarket wheels, different seats, and a new cowl hood. See you all on the starting line!
  18. That's pretty crazy about the decals. Never seen that before. Cool project though. Looking forward to watching you bring it to life.
  19. Thanks a lot guys! It started out as just a practice body and I ended up with this. Had a lot of fun working on it.
  20. It's between two kits for me. And I'll probably add a few aftermarket goodies.
  21. Very cool. Question for you. How did you do the wood panel?
  22. Very cool. Looks like another barn find in this state. I'm digging it. You guys are all posting some really great stuff. Love it!
  23. I think I’m going to call the dashboard done. I thought about painting the bolts around the perimeter but I’m thinking of quitting while I’m ahead. I don’t want to overdo it and make it look too toylike. Also, pretty sure I have the exhaust figured out. At least I hope so. I just shot primer on it. Pics of that coming once I get it assembled.
  24. Hey David, I believe you're correct about the drum brakes. Now that you mentioned it, I think every set I've seen is the reverse of what this kit shows. Knowing that, I think if I were going to build another one, I'd look into correcting that. Also, instructions do show the battery in the passenger foot well. I don't think it would fit under the gas tank here. You could always raise the tank. This whole thing is so far removed from stock though. You sort of have to either go with it or make it your own. I'm doing a little of both. Actually, I'm just now sitting down to do some more work on it.
  25. Thanks for all your comments guys. Very much appreciated! Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it.
