  1. I’m a sucker for a good deal on old aircraft kits. Brought these home yesterday.
  2. Hey guys, I’ve never done a group build before, but I’ve been thinking about it for a few months now. I recently signed up for one starting in January, and I’m pretty excited. But being a rookie to the concept, is there anything I should know going into it? I mean beyond following the rules of the gb . What I’m asking is, are there any unspoken dos or don’ts I should be aware of?
  3. Fort Wayne is FINALLY starting to get a few different kits. It’s not much, but at least we’re starting to see some. I picked up the vette and lotus.
  4. Wow, that is CLEAN. Gorgeous build.?
  5. I have that one and after opening the box decided not to mess with it any further. Yours is making me rethink that decision. Man, that looks great!?
  6. The Firebird kit seems vaguely familiar. Is that a snap kit?
  7. This guy must live in Detroit.
  8. I've thought about this so many times. Always makes me a little sad too when you see something like this when it's just been forgotten and discarded. Glad to see one coming back from the dead. That's gonna be killer when you get it all together.
  9. Wow, that turned out fantastic. The color is absolutely gorgeous ?
  10. That looks fast just sitting there! Great work!
  11. My kind of build! This looks great. Excellent color choice too.?
  12. Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. It's all finished and posted in the under glass section now.
  13. Wow Bill, you're on a roll. Can't wait to see it all come together. Those are some really cool old trains.
  14. Love this one!?. I know what I’m getting for everyone on my list now.?
  15. Dang... Ok, so which one of you guys wants all my tools. ?
  16. I'm guessing it's a regional thing. Probably has a lot (or everything) to do with what the nearest distribution center gets. I've been to many ollie's stores within a 2-3 hour radius of my home, and they all look just like that or worse. Fingers crossed some of these good kits start making their way closer.
  17. This is something I’ve been putting off for a while. Finally getting around to solving the clearance issue between the hood and engine. Started by moving the belt cover closer to the engine. To do this, the back of the generator, front of the engine and back of generator pulley were filled down. This got me closer. I could now get the hood to stay on, but it was still hitting. This caused the body to slide back and made the wheels sit too far forward in the wheel wells. Next, I opened up the holes in the transmission where the axle goes through. Making it oval shaped helped move the entire engine/transmission assembly in towards the center of the floor pan, away from the hood. That did the trick.
  18. Yup. I’ve got a scar on my right hand pinky finger I’ve had for about 40 years from one of the old Testors blades when I was a kid. Going the opposite direction from drinking alcohol while modeling, don’t drink caffeine either. I shake bad enough without it. Give me some coffee and a fine brush for detailing? My builds start looking like when I was seven years old again!?
  19. BMF is my kryptonite. I have a dozen kits stalled at that stage. It’s the next major hurdle I want to tackle.
  20. Oh that's just fine for the drunken sailors, but what about us milkmen? Guess we don't count! ?
  21. As has become the norm lately, I’m flipping back and forth between this and the beetle project this afternoon . That one is at a standstill right now while paint and cement cure. While that’s happening, I did some detail painting on the Camaro firewall, and got it installed. These two kits are really starting to get fun again now that I’m starting to see progress. I’ve been looking for a good dark grey that would look right over black for just such applications and I think I finally found one I’m pleased with. This one is Model Master Engine Gray (4749) on the wiring. It’s about the darkest gray I have currently. And here it is in its new home-
  22. Doing some rear suspension work today. The rear shock mount location doesn’t work well because the shocks are a little on the long side. The body of the shock interferes with the mounting point. Some round stock was added to the mounting position, and sticks out a little to give the shock something to attach to. After the cement is dry, I’ll touch up everything.
  23. It’s definitely appreciated. One of the things I’ve picked up from this forum is the different uses of the wip threads by different users. The way you present yours are educational and beneficial to anyone interested. So much more useful than just posting “well, the engine is done now”.
  24. Anyone ever tried this stuff for test fitting or gluing clear parts (or any other use)? I picked up a bottle a while back for something else but it seems like it would work. I’m going to try it out sometime, but thought I’d see if you guys have given it a shot.
  25. Another ambitious build and another classic Pontiac (my personal favorite brand). Looking forward to learning from your updates sir. Best of luck with this one.
