  1. That’s not a 1:1?? Wow. Looks like it was well worth the effort then. ?
  2. I think this is a really cool idea. And yes, he’s really going above and beyond.?
  3. What he said. @Dave Van- that thing is absolutely awesome as is. I really love the paint cracking. Looks like a barn find race car.? Great looking old kits guys. This is exactly what I was after!
  4. David, that turned out just great. Outstanding build my friend.?
  5. I don’t think this has come up for a while. Sorry if I missed it. But I was thinking about my “roots” in model car building and what the oldest build I still have is. What I’m looking for here is the OLDEST, UNRESTORED, untouched build you did that’s still intact. I’m sure these won’t be the prettiest things we’ve seen on the forum. And that’s a big part of their history and ours. I’m expecting to see glue bombs and orange peel galore. No shame in that!? Let’s also hear a little of the history that you remember about the builds. These aren’t the first cars I did, far from it. But everything prior to these didn’t survive my early teens. I’m starting off with two because I really don’t know which is older. Both would have been built around ‘86 give or take. (I started around ‘77) This first one is the Monogram ‘85 corvette. I had seen a 1:1 in this color and for some reason at the time loved it. Now I can’t stand the color!?. Just a box stock build here. I was really proud of this next one. The Monogram ‘69 Camaro. Still my all time favorite kit! This was built to replicate a friends car. It was the first time I tried any kind of kit-bashing/scratch building. The exhaust was made up of parts from other kits because I didn’t want side pipes. At that time, this build was a benchmark for me. So there you go. A little history from the atomic holiday hobby room! Now let’s see some of yours!?
  6. Hope you’re feeling better soon Carl.
  7. You know I’m digging this one! Great work as always buddy!?
  8. I wish it had the stock hood. It's got the shaker scoop on one of the trees still.
  9. Fort Wayne store now has all of the Monogram kits I’ve seen shown on here. But almost all of the AMT stuff is gone. Just a few of the smaller scale stuff left. I’m hoping they get more in stock. There are still a couple from this latest round I would consider picking up. I Finally got my ‘69 Camaro! (As if I needed another one…?)
  10. You’ve been busy this year! Those are some great looking builds my friend.?
  11. I think it's really cool. And I love the that you built it how you wanted regardless of historical accuracy. Great job!
  12. Oh man, that color is BEAUTIFUL! Well done!
  13. This looks great. I'm digging your color choices. Mine is still in progress, but I hope it turns out half as nice as this.
  14. I hate to hear that. They were a really good band and his voice was a perfect fit. “Nature of the Beast” was a terrific album start to finish. RIP Myles.
  15. I agree. My expectations were higher. And while mine is still in progress, I'd have to say it's been the most difficult kit I've tacked so far. Not impossible to get good results, but you'll work for it.
  16. It’s not terrible if you know the fixes. There are several wips for it that detail how to fix the known issues. Mine included, but still in progress. Main problems are the firewall/floor pan fitment and subframe issues. I recommend avoiding the orange box kit. Mine had several molding issues.
  17. Thanks for your replies. Here’s a question for you. Is it acceptable to enter the same model into more than one GB if it fits all the rules?
  18. Never been in a contest, but is there a difference between "box stock" and "out of box" (OOB)? If there is, maybe one would allow such mods?
  19. Yup. I knew I wouldn't have been happy with it if I couldn't get that closed. Even after mods, it just barely fits. Not a lot to report now. I did some detail painting of various engine components last night. Really there are only two hurdles left. I still need to work out what I want to do about the ill-fitting steering damper, and I want to rework the exhaust. I'd kinda like to have just two pipes exit out the rear end, near the center. I have a few ideas. Just need more bench time.
  20. Interesting. I've never seen that decal on the '57. I like that kit a lot too. It was one of my early builds.
  21. Very cool car. Well done.
  22. That top is starting to look very convincing. Are you using half-round stock for this?
  23. That is a great idea.?
  24. On a whim, I decided to make a steering column support loop for this project. No idea what possessed me to tackle this. It was totally unplanned and not something I would usually tackle. I blame you guys and all the model car related YouTube videos I watch.? It was actually very easy. Two small holes were drilled into the front roll bar behind the dashboard. The support loop is just a piece of paper clip cut to size. Then that will be fitted into the holes after the steering column is installed. For now, I’ll leave it off until the roll bar is painted and the instrument panel is detailed.
