Rise of the Machines...WARNING WARNING DANGER DANGER !!!
Atmobil replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
You should read 11/22/63 by Stephen King. -
Yes, I can also use another one of these
-
I also have the parts and I have cast some parts before but not sure if I can manage to make a cast of these. I do however know a few modelling guys that are very good at casting so I think I can ask them if they want to do it. I see that the major diffrences in my two 1978 kits is the front crossmember and lower A-arms, springs and dampers plus springs on rearaxle. There is also a diffrent driveshaft, different exhaust and the 2wd version has a benchseat. What of these parts are most important for making a proper 2wd and what parts can be found from other sources? And can these parts also be fitted to the Revell 1:25 rounded line trucks?

YES!!!! The Transit is back!!! Yes, this is going to be a reissue of the Esci 84 Transit, not released in 30 years. Italeri and Revell have both reissued old Esci kits before. Italeri did the Ranger Rover Paris Dakar, Gälendewagen Paris Dakar, Land Rover,Toyota Land Cruiser (as the Armed Pickup), Fiat 131 Rally and the Renault 5 Alpine rally and maybe some more that I have forgotten. Revell did the Gälendewagen Fire Brigade and the Mercedes 190E and possibly others aswell. I will buy several Transit vans when they arrive and I will build a custom van out of at least one of them. I also hope that some aftermarket company will make a mk1 resin conversion kit for it.

Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?

How would that thing fly? I don't see any engines on it. -
The least kitted brand....

Thank you for that link. I really wish they would make that in 1:24 or 1:25 aswell. I have some 1:35 kits but prefer 1:24/25 for cars. -
1979 Ford F150 Flareside 4x4
Atmobil replied to Atmobil's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thank you very much. I painted the wood with Humbrol number 61 Matt flesh first and then Humbrol Clear Orange on top. Gives a nice effect of varnished wood. One can also get darker color of wood by using a slightly darker basecolor at first and if one wants an unvarnished look one can use a darkbrown wash instead of the clear orange. -

I'm currently very busy with a 1:1 project but I have managed to do a bit of work on this one aswell. I have painted and assembled the bed. Still not done as I want to make a proper latch with chain for the tailgate. -
These are my Mercedes-Benz kits, as you can see there is several Revell made ones. An reissue of any of them would be nice but also older and newer models. What about the more modernday E-Class? Fujimi made the W210 but the W211, W212 and the soon-to-hit-the-showrooms W213 could also be nice to see.

I would count it in as a Opel, another brand that we do not have too many kits of. All I can think of is the AMT Opel GT, the ICM 1938 Opel Admiral, Italeri Opel Blitz truck, the rather rare PMC made Opel Rekord P1 sedan from ca 1960 and several different 1930s Opels in 1:35 from Bronco, ICM and some other makers I think. And ofcourse the Opel Blitz is available in most scales (1:35, 1:72, 1:76, 1:87). Then we got the Accademy/Minicraft Potiac Le mans that I could convert into a Kadett E sedan and one could maybe convert the MPC Chevrolet Cavalier into an Ascona with a lot of work. There is also some resinkits to be had. But I would love to see more Opel kits, like a Manta, Kadett, Rekord and the KAD car (Kapitän, Admiral, Dimplomat) and many others. -
I wonder if one could make resin casts of the twowheeldrive parts?
-
That looks nice, congratulations

I made a ficticious boxart for this: I would also love to see a W114/W115 and a W123 and S123 (sedan and wagon) and Revell did make 1:18 diecast versions of the W120 Ponton and W111 220SE so maybe they could downscale them and make them in plastic. And they could aslo reissue the old Esci Gälendewagen Firebrigade kit (they did a reissue back in 2004 with kit number 07366) and also do a reissue of the W124 sedan and wagon kits that they have had before and they also did a version of the Esci W201 190E with kamei styling that I would like to see reissued (even if I have two unbuilt in my stash). And why not a W116 S-class aswell

I'm sure that they will work it out. It is just a case of lawyers meeting eachother and agreeing on the contents of the contracts and how much money they will have to pay.

And what about a Tatra kit, maybe there is some truck available in smaller scales but I have never seen a kit of a passenger car. An other brand that I can think of is Saab, only thing I have seen is Airtrax resin. -

Not many Volvo passenger cars as kits either. The ones I can think of is Italeri/Testors 760, Tamiya 850 Sedan and Wagon and Palmer P1800. -
Thanks for the link. I do have it on DVD but watching it on youtube gave me an excuse to tape up my Mercedes hubcaps for paint When I now again saw the movie, I want to go there and see the places. Is there a place online where one can find the route they used and is it possible to drive it today?

This is probably on the limits of the boardrules and quite a bit off-topic for this one but I think that Tesla might not be interested in plastic model kits as they are (apparently) concerned about the environment and in many of these "green" think-tanks there is talk about banning plastics for use in consumer products. Now, the plastic kit industry is a very small one compared to toys and other things but if we are about to get a ban on products made of plastic from "fossil energy" it is very likely that the Tesla company are going to stay away from that aswell.

Wow, very funny idea

This is a very interesting read about Duel. I have never noticed the diffrences in years on the cars used but I guess that is because to me they are not familiar cars. I like that it did not end in a typical (and very unrealistic) hollywood type explosion. I have alwyas hated it when they make a huge mushroom-fire-explosion out of a car in a movie. I remember seeing a movie ones where a car went up in a huge fireball like that because the badguy shot the front bumper. Even shooting a fueltank with fuel in it will not need to create a explosion. It is clear from this film that Spielberg had the talents to make good movies early on and this movie has a mental drama all the way trough it that keeps you from getting bored. I have seen several modelprojects of the truck over the years and have been tempted at making my own aswell. I'm just afraid that a model will never be as scary as the one in the movie.

Like Diopark and the 1:35 Mercedes W123 they got that is just called 70s German made civilan car and Italeri branding the Mack Superliner kit as a American Superliner and the old Esci Land Rover kit as a 109" Long Wheel base four wheel drive. Yes, it has been done before and acn probably be done again.

Looks very good, this one is on my list for sure
