  1. Simple one-piece wire axel chassis Frank, you wouldn't like it anyway.
  2. Would grafting the Buick roof on the GP body be feasible, then grafting in the 2+2 emblems into the body? Or am I missing something here?
  3. OK, just went and pulled it apart. Separate doors, Revell S.D. for sure. BUT,, I can't see any evidence of surgery inside the cowl. There's a prominent "KI" cast in there though. The hood and rad are AMT as the hood is 1 piece. I think the firewall is AMT too. Maybe they glued on the firewall and sanded a puttied the rest up to look like a '29 maybe?? Also, the fender unit has the braces molded to the underside of the running boards, the Revell '29 pickup I'm working on right now is smooth in this area suggesting this is AMT ,, but the fenders seem to be separate from each side,, I have no idea what I'm looking at with these parts. Rear cross pieces cut out to accommodate the Revell S.D. floor maybe? The frame is separate with metal axels, AMT, I'm pretty sure.
  4. Thanks Bill, good to know. I have a couple of the 5 windows but just a stock built-up of the Tudor. you sure wouldn't tell they were based on the same kit by just looking at the outsides.
  5. Thanks for the replys guys. I thought although it looked pretty good, it wasn't exactly "correct". I'm no expert in these old cars. I dug it out and took a few pics and I'm thinking it's an AMT '29 with the body of the Revell '31 Sedan Delivery grafted on. I think I might rip it apart , clean up the bodywork and rod it out. I just started working on a revel '29 pickup so it'll wait a bit longer though. Here's a couple pics of the subject,,
  6. I like the subtle color scheme. I was up late going through google images looking for a scheme for my '71. BTW, I used that exact wheel combo on a '29 roadster rod I did years ago. I suggest sanding the lip off the outer edge of the front ones to match the rears, then they look like they were made for each other.
  7. The '33/'34 sedan kit came out in the '80s. The 5 window came out in the '90s. I'm not sure they really share very much tooling. The dimensions of the sedan are off quite a bit ,, not to mention the too-square roof. It just doesn't have the nice flowing lines at the top of the roof that the real cars have.
  8. Art, I have a built-up'29 2dr sedan I got in a bunch of builts years ago. It's definitely Revell parts. I know Revell didn't do a '29 Tudor, looks like the builder used parts from the '29 pickup [cowl, hood, rad] and '31 Tudor to build this car. My question is, is the '31 body accurate [or at least pretty close] for making a '29 Tudor like this builder did?
  9. I think the Supremes look pretty good myself although they are a bit deep.
  10. Definitely Monogram Thunderbird.
  11. Would you believe 15 years? Buddy said he parked it after his son was born and never got back to it. I really haven't had a chance to take a good look under it yet to check the break and gas lines. Like I said, the floor needs some work but the exhaust looks like it was installed last month but the previous owner said he put it on around '91. Gotta love stainless steel.
  12. Larry Watson painted Doug Carney's '63 Grand Prix when it was relatively new. It's generally considered the first "lace paintjob".
  13. It's an '85. Been sitting for quite a while but after putting oil down the cylinders and working the old gas through the lines it starts right up and pulls strong. There is some rust in the floors and a few bubbles here and there but generally an easy fix and pretty good shape for sitting for so long. Dosen't seem to be much mechanically wrong with it besides an exhaust leak near the front, [a gasket], mostly cosmetic. I'll work on it the rest of the year and repaint it next spring then it'll be all ready for cruis'n next summer.
  14. Just a thought, the windshield from a '63 or '64 Ford should also work in that merc. They'd be the same part in the real cars.
  15. Just like on a real 1/1 windshield, the only way to fix it is to replace it.
  16. Modelhaus makes some '64 Dodge pickups. The regular cab ones are all listed as "8 beds but the crew cab ones list "6-1/2 beds. I understand they're pretty good with custom orders so maybe you could order a regular cab and short box with the needed interior and trim by them selves minus a chassis and use the chassis from an MPC LRE pickup?
  17. Started on this one several years ago. The body and fenders have been painted since '08 but just not quite feeling it. Here's what the frame looks like,, I've been thinking about it and I've come to the conclusion that it should be a closed cab truck. I had this old MPC '27 [ish] tall T coupe body kicking around for years so I thought I'd do some cutting this afternoon. Not sure if I'm gonna keep the 1/4 windows yet or fill them in but this is the way I'm gonna go with it. Engine will be a single carb 260 from an old AMT Cobra roadster builtup which I'll clean up and repaint. Hopefully, I can get the new paint on the body to match the dark green paint I put on the box and hood years ago. LOL
  18. I suspect that's exactly what they do.
  19. That looks great Steve. Never disappointed when I open one of your posts.
