Anybody recognizes this chassis?
Can-Con replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's this,, I checked mine, not a guess. -
Preach it Brother Alan! 👍 I knew more about cars and could identify the parts in grade school better then some of these grown men, so called "car guys". 🙄 How long does it really take to do a couple minutes of reasearch before putting yourself out before the public?

Yea, those scoops were pretty neat. They were Cal Custom. -

A couple of the Japanese kits I have include self adheasive metal transfers like that. I'd suggest leaving a question in the comments section of the video asking about them. Usually best when asking about a model to ask the person who built it. That being said, there's these on e-bay, https://www.ebay.com/itm/364889477582?itmmeta=01K33T6ZK6FQTNVQMXPPD859Z5&hash=item54f51b91ce:g:fiUAAOSw6jJcSTIj But, aside from being pre-painted and self adheasive, I see no real difference to the MCG photoerth ones Keith mentions.

AMT 60 Ranchero non lump frame
Can-Con replied to ManiacModeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looking at the pic I posted above Steve, It looks like you are correct. I don't see any straps on that tank. -
I think Alclad is the only one that needs a gloss black enamel base and even then it dosen't need to be black. Any dark gloss enamel will do. I understand dark blue works very well. From what I've seen, the rest seem to go over anything glossy without problems, including bare plastic.

AMT 60 Ranchero non lump frame
Can-Con replied to ManiacModeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Trumpeter car kits are notoriously over-complicated but this one looks relativly normal. Found this pic on the net. -
As I've said before, ANY kit from ANY company needs to be taken on it's own merit. That being said, it also depends on the skill set of the builder. Some can build a great model out of anything, some should stick to Lego.

Forum Changes
Can-Con replied to Xingu's topic in Forum News and Questions (formerly: How To Use This Board)
I'd like to see a "rod and custom" section that would allow pickups, vans, etc. as well as cars as long as they were clearly customized or hot rodded. And before anyone asks, No, just a set of mag wheels and/or a non-stock paintjob does not count as customized or hot rodded. Leave the replica stock cars, trucks and light commercial vehicles to the categories they're currently in.- 220 replies

Chrome rims for metal axles
Can-Con replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you can find this set, the bottom right wheels look almost the same as the ones in the '70s reissue of the kit. IIRC, they're included in the last reissue of the '36 Ford kit also. -
More my style so I can do it with any version they care to release. 😉

I have one somewhere. Nice body. Almost a direct copy of the MPC annual body so 1/25. But, curbside with generic interior and chassis plate. The dash is just flat piece with a decal. These parts are shared with a couple other kits in the series. Could be a nice curbside , maybe use an AMT '65 dash. Not 100% but close.

IF you airbrush I'd suggest mixing the Tamiya racing and pure white 50/50. I think that would get you close. I used the racing white on my mast pickup build and in my opinion, it's a bit too dark for the GM white or even the Ford Wimbledon white.

Pretty well all the off road accessories on that Jimmy kit ['80s Monogram 1/24 kit] came directly from the Hickey off road catalogue. Hood, fender flares, wheels, headers, winch and brush guard, , , all of it was available from them. -

"Sour Apple" '74 GMC
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks everyone. Man, this thing was a project and a 1/2. between being a restoration , buggering up the paint and having to redo it and the extras I ended up adding, it was about 7 months. I think I'm gonna do a nice simple curbside or two and get my ducks in a row before another involved project again. -

Pretty sharp Eric. Nice job on the cab conversion and it sits just right.👍 -

The side trim is just done with Plastistruct strips. Nothing to it really. -
I love that one Mark. The modifications are so subtle a person not familiar with those cars would never know the difference. Sorry I haven't e-mailed you back since last time, BTW. I'm getting kinda forgetful in my old age. 🙄

I'd rather have the kit 'Right' than 'Right now'. So would I. I was just asking, not trying to push.

Hey, couldn't hurt to ask, right? 😉

Great googlie wooglie, that sounds great! So, can we expect to start seeing them before the end of the year, if I may ask? , ,and if I may be so bold, PLEASE, one with a "pro touring" setup similar to the '64 Comet you have coming out. Saves us hotrodders a lot of work. 😉
