Dennis, i am enjoying watching you customize the 57 Chevrolet. I know that it isn’t an easy task I have two of these going right now and like all of us, I’ve seen good and bad customs made from the 57. Your take on the side trim and the rear is looking good so far. Please keep it going.

32 Ford AWD Update: I finally got the drivetrain in, it took me quite a bit of planning before getting things to this stage. My brake master cylinder and exhaust will work out although not quite in the way I am hoping. I’ve got a set of wheels and tires worked out but disc brakes are a bit of a problem. But things will work out. I might sidestep to the interior for a bit. Thanks for looking, keeping smiling.?

32 Ford AWD Update: Well how things change in 24 hours. I couldn’t get the Latham blower to sit right, after all my trickery it would not sit right - interference with the distributor even after scratch building a remote drive (yes they do exist). After a bit of messing around I looked in the Revell 32 Ford box and I found the intake and rest of the EFI setup. Hmmm - it doesn’t look too bad. Yup I’ll keep it. Hoping that y’all weekend went well. Cheers

Update: My apologies for not keeping things updated. I have been rather busy. The first three phots is what I had to modify for CD a radiator. A Revell 29 Model A gave up its radiator shell and the shortened radiator for the optional channeled rod were modified to fit inside the hood. The last photo shows the painting process so far. I have interior to think of. Thanks for all the kind words Y’all. Cheers

Well I got my first color on the 32 Tamiya Italian Red over Duplicolor grey primer and after two coats of the color I had to do a bit of color sanding this evening. Not sure what to do, I might try a third or fourth coats. Oh well, keep smiling everyone.

First coat of primer, not looking too bad. I have some very minor things to do. I do need to think of paint color(s).

A bit of an update: I got the hood sides glued up and I’m doing some finish up body work. I have finally settled on an intake setup for the small block Ford. Once again after a bit of mocking things up the Latham blower and carbs will fit inside the hood. Cheers

Steal away, I kinda borrowed the front nose idea from Kit Karson anyway - sort of.

Paul, I don’t have any idea for engine mods. The 5.0 liter is out of the box and I’ve all the mechanicals to fit. I’ve been racking my brain for intake and carbs or fuel injection of some type. No idea.

I have started this as a challenge build on Facebook and I thought that I would share it here too. On Facebook there is a 4x4 challenge and all the moderator requires is that all four wheels are driven, so this is my entry, I’ve always wanted to do this and now I found the excuse. The inspiration for this build is the Summit Racing Quadradeuce. I am using the Revell 32 5 window coupe. The roof has been chopped. The frame’s wheelbase has been extended to roughly 114”, the rear of the frame has been modified too. Front A-arm suspension and rear differential & suspension is from the Smooster kit. The front differential and transfer case is from the AMT 97 Chevy Blazer. The engine is from the Revell 32. The front hood nose piece is from the 37 Ford Pickup (the latest release). Hope that y’all enjoy, cheers.

It’s been quite awhile, my apologies but I’ve been rather busy on some other projects. I had to spend today making the truck bed floor. I took the resin bed floor and cut it up to fit the tubs and such in the back, next I cut a fresh sheet of Evergreen 040 to size. The fit is okay but not the greatest. I may need to redo it. Got to think it over. Things are moving ahead, soon to start thinking about paint colors. -
K&R Kustoms+Rods '34 5ive Window Chopped Coupe
carnut replied to Kit Karson's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Kit, Thank you for the kind words. Truth be told, I started this about 5 years ago, I finished it 3 years ago for an online challenge. The roof I stretched not slanted. Also I wish that I had found out about the Stepped Chop method then - it would have saved me a world of fussing over this build. But when done I enjoyed building it and it opened up new avenues of doing stuff. I do have an old AMT 33 3 window I’m just itching to do a Rolling Bones chop to. I have used the Step Chopped method since. It is very adaptable to other projects. I like what Gene Winfield says “Still going to school”. Keep on the sunny side. -

Thanks for sharing this Kit, I’m planning on doing the stepped chop on a 32 3 window soon. I’ve already done it on a Revell 41 Chevy Pickup cab - it works. Below is my 34, 5 window outlaw build from a few years ago. Enjoy and thanks again for sharing. -
I too like the direction you’re going with this. I also have an AMT new tool 57 Bel Air going and I got curious one night, so I grafted in a 58 Plymouth Belvedere roof on mine. Please keep your project going.

Update: Sorry to be late on this, I’ve been busy on other things. Some more of the major assemblies are done. The 426 Max Wedge is assembled and spark plug holes drilled, long tube headers are built and yes they will fit. I took the donor kit’s inside wheel wells and trimmed them to fit inside the engine bay- yes they fit like a glove. Lastly I did have to make some inside fender pieces, the resin body firewall leaves a huge gap. I’ll be gluing these in during the assembly later. Time to start thinking of colors to paint. Hope that y’all like it. Cheers. -

This looks so cool, as soon as I get one I’m going to see if the chassis-frame from the 66 Chevy II Nova will fit. It should, I can’t wait.- 599 replies

1964 Dodge D100

Update: sorry it’s been awhile but I’ve been rather busy with another few model building projects. As you can see my planning and fabrication is paying off. The first photo is showing the D100 finally up on wheels, I have the stance I want but the wheels don’t really cut it for me. A very good friend of mine is 3D printing a set of wheels to go into a similar set of tires. Photo 2 is the 426 Max Wedge in the engine bay, with the headers from the Dodge 330 kit jut fitted in, they will work out just fine. Time to do a search for where the spark plugs go and drill some holes for plug wires. yes I do need to also address the missing inside fender wells and lower firewall. Lots more to do. cheers. -

Update: I finally got back to this - been busy the last few days. I got the chassis pan and frame glued up. It looks a bit ugly but it will do the job. It almost looks like something Roadkill would do, Ha ha ha. I’ve lined up a few of the other parts from the Dodge 330 kit. But there is a lack of some detail. I’ll see if I can make this work still. Rind to think of wheels and tires. Cheers. -

that’s crazy, whoever is selling it can keep it. I do wish that someone would do up one of these 1960’s Dodge pickups. Although I’m a Ford person, I do like building different stuff. -

Update: I have been working on the chassis for a bit and I am surprised as to how well the Dodge 330 chassis fits up in the cab, with a bit of work. I measured the cab space and lined up everything and cut the chassis in half almost. The chassis width is a little smaller than the cab. So I added Evergreen strip styrene around the edges and everything looks good. I also cut out the inside well wells, but I’ll rebuild them later. I did make a goof, I went online and found out that the 330 is a unibody with subframes so I made frame extenders to tie it all in. I forgot about the torsion bars - so I drilled holes for those to mount up in the crossmember. I’ll redo the tranny mount later. Enjoy the photos, and keep smiling. -
It has been quite awhile since I posted any builds so here goes. I picked up this Modelhaus 64 Dodge D100 SWB pickup a few months before they announced their retirement. The resin kit is ok, there will be some cleanup on this. It is inspired by Gas Monkey’s build from a few years ago - I want to keep mine all Mopar, the donor kit is the Lindberg 64 Dodge 330. What do you think? More to follow. Cheers

Here is what I did on my Tamiya 66 VW. I wanted my VDub to stupid low, so on the front end I cut the front axle horizontally down the middle and then cut 1 mm from each piece and then glued it back together. Next I cut up in the mounting box so the axle is really moved up. The rear end I cut notches on the suspension arm and then pushed it up and glued it in place. Evergreen styrene was used to re-enforce the glue joints.

I seem to remember someone said that the Chevy Luv pickups came with an ISUZU 4 cylinder. If so then another source might be the MPC 1978-80 or so Chevrolet Chevette. If someone can verify but I think the Chevette’s 4 banger is one. If true then once you find one you can then do a resin cast of the parts.
