    Dumpster Car

Ohhhhh, be careful. somebody here may blackmail you with that post!
  3. Some trimming and sanding on the floor pan and bottom on the interior tub will give a better fit. A retool of this kit using the 67 parts would be nice. Still a good looking kit that can build up nicely with some patience.
  4. Well, I will share your opinion and say the whites do look great. Great set of long roofs too.
  5. In 1973 Ford set out to design and build a new four-door LTD and two-door Landau, described as a 'personal coupe'. Construction was done using the Falcon coupe body, with revised rear side window openings, an LTD front with hide-away headlights and a padded vinyl roof. The rear was slightly altered using a long horizontal joined tail light and indicators. There are four major external features that differentiate the XA, XB, and XC Hardtop and the Landau. Totally different front end sheet metal and grille with hide-away headlights Totally different tail light panel with a single strip of lights Totally different Dash and instruments Interior has four bucket seats The original Interceptor was created using a 1973 Ford XB GT Falcon Hardtop (the last pic)
  6. I love easy questions...... Flathead or 390 powered.
  7. How about an Indy car Cosworth? AMT kits of the 90's have em Or from the Dan Gurney kit....
  8. You have the Del Rio yet Charlie?
  9. I have the correct rear bumper from the Revell Chopped Ranchero. Wonder if it fits?
  10. Lindbergh 48 Lincoln, so bad, but I have quite a few.
  11. Scott, it is understandable and the thread did go way off track. As stated before, I pointed out the issues with the 57 Custom with hopes some may have been addressed. It was also meant as an FYI for those who may wish to build a more correct looking kit. I was happy that the sedan and Del Rio were being made, but being a huge 57 Ford fan, I was personally disappointed with the kit. That is my choice and it is also my choice to purchase or not. The Del Rio, yea, I'll get one, spend the time correcting it, at that time, I will decide if I want another. The fact that old kits were also incorrect from being updated each year is one thing, the bodies and the way they looked overall was much better and accurate (looking) than some kits of today. Just seams like it takes so long to get a kit out when 50 years ago, the new kit of the current cars were out in that same year and actually looking pretty accurate.
  12. Well, the front always looked too big to me. The front on the real 57 Ford is very slim as you see in Mikes pics of his car. the grill should be up tight to the lights. It is an easy fix but raising the valance and bumper is a little tougher. As noted before, having a 57 Ford in the garage I see all the time, something on the Revell just bugged me. Took awhile to figure what it was. This is only meant to be an FYI to fellow builders since i have seen other posts mentioning the front header above the grill looked too thick. Well, it is.. The AMT 57 the grill is up to the bottom of the lights and the area behind the headlight bucket is shaped better, closer to what it should be.
  13. I showed front issues in the General forum. Did not wish to stoke this fire
  14. Roger, you are correct, the header is too thick and grill is too low. That is why (in my eyes) the front looked clunky and heavy. The lower part of the grill bar needs to be thinned and the angle below the headlight needs to be flattened to raise the grill, bumper and valance. The bottom of the bumper should actually above the bottom of the doors.
  15. I need pics of the kit front, straight on. I am pretty sure I got it
  16. Way better than my AAR.... Very kewl
  17. Sweet pair
  18. I am with Ace.... Measuring is not some far out, just learning technology. Also, photography is so much better now. Even without a 1:1 car to look at, photos can tell you 1000 things. Heck, I pointed to flaws with photos, no measuring. So why are there so many very accurate looking 50-60 year old kits Yes, it is only a model, but they are not really cheap either. The case with me and the 57 Custom was that with the flaws, (seen on the box and in builds here) I did not buy any. I may have purchased many if not for the evident things wrong visually. Am I the only one? Probably not. Now that I pinpointed the wonky heavy front end issue, I may get one, but only one. The fixes in the body will just consume too much time (for me)
