Do You Create A Backstory For Your Builds?
Sledsel replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do not have back stories per say but have many things that influence or lead me in a direction. Pictures I see, hot wheels, even others builds will give me ideas. I know if it is a subject I am not familiar with I will do some research to be sure what I am doing is correct. -
Updated photo of available parts. I'm not really looking for anything, just trying to help out if anyone needs or wants. Everything remaining is Revell.
-
Glad to help. Yes, you are correct on the AMT and MPC differences. Try repairing the hoods you have, it's not that tough. A lot of info on the "tips" page.
-
I will update the photo after I pull the parts Keef wants.
-
Your post got me thinking some more about this so I pulled out an AMT kit. The last AMT kit "Street custom" represents a 75 to 78 Mustang II. The hood will fit an MPC but will require a little bit of work. Just an FYI for you.

Go ahead and get him his part, may be days before I get a chance to look.

A question for Mr. Goldman - Re Round 2
Sledsel replied to iwantmodels's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'll third that!!!!! And as Mr. Metallic stated, a parts pack would be great. I am always looking for dropped axles. -
In-my-opinion (worth very little) a '73 would be much better. Cleaner look and no big bumpers. The front of the '77 is downright ugly to me. Now if someone were planning a '70's GM, I think (again, worthless opinion) a '73 Grand Am would be a much better choice to attract more builders.

Very nice, the color is perfect.

I had purchased a bunch of '70 Charger stuff from fleabay and was going to make a stock car using a late model chassis. I've got too many projects and decided to drop this one. See anything here you need or want, drop me a line. Thanks

I have one but I need to root thru stuff. I'll get back to ya

Nice lookin GTO! Do not be concerned about the space under the grill, the bumper should be below the headlight bezels as the kit is. On a 1:1 it depends who installed the bumper. LOL
-
Great lookin' Mustang and I like the subtle changes you made.
-
That is one nice build. Again, you step out-of-the-box for color and it looks great! One of your best IMO

Sweet simple and black!

Nice custom Galaxie! I can think of one word to describe it: Smooth!

What are the must-build classic kits?
Sledsel replied to OldNYJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I think of must builds I think of vintage kits and re-pops of those that got me into the hobby. I'd have to suggest: Monogram Badman Chevy or Street Machine version Any of the 70's era Monogram Street Vette's. Hopefully Atlantis gets these because they are pricey. AMT 40 Ford AMT 49 Ford AMT 66 Mustang -
Are you needing AMT or MPC? They are different. Also to note, the MPC '74 hood is different than the '75-'78. I have attached a picture of a 74 Hood placed on a 78 body. Both MPC. The year difference should be true for the AMT kits also but I cannot confirm.

Pretty sure I have one. I'll check and pm you

1/87 ( H0 ) Scale shop truck & racer

Impressive being so small. Definitely could save space if that's all you build!!! -
Ollie's strike again
Sledsel replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found it odd also. It was the only one there in a stack of Pinto's and Goon cars and to further the oddity, the sticker is on the box and the kit was taped closed with those pieces of round clear tape on each side.
